The Graduate Attribute Information Analysis system (GAIA) was developed at the University of Ottawa to support data collection and performance management of graduate attributes for engineering programs at the program level and at the course level [10]. This paper reports on our research to develop support for cohort analysis and reporting by providing a single consistent view of graduate attributes (GA) and performance indicators for groups of students who started and finished an engineering program at the same time. This is supported by two special purpose reports: Graduate Attribute Report per Cohort (GAR/C) and Course Progression Report per Cohort (CPR/C). The former shows average GA data per attribute, the latter tracks student achievement as students progress in their program. It also adds to the historic data trend analysis for a program. Furthermore, a COOP Progress Report per cohort (COOPR/C) is generated.

Management, measurement, and visualization of graduate attributes in a program can be complex and challenging. At the University of Ottawa, we have developed a Graduate Attribute Information Analysis system (GAIA) to support performance management of graduate attributes. It simplifies data collection and improves visualization of results with historical trend analysis at both the course level and the program level. Graduate attribute measurements are defined in a tool that can flexibly integrate internal indicators (such as tests, assignments, exam questions) or external indicators (such as surveys or feedback forms). We have mapped the assessment results with a four-scale rubric that allows the use of weighted grading when dominant and secondary components apply. And we support measurement-specific range boundaries to better match the expected level of knowledge students must achieve.

We survey the approaches taken at several universities for faculty level support of graduate attribute assessment and continuous improvement process and present the approach taken at the University of Ottawa. Our approach consists of a common process for continuous improvement across programs, supported by templates for key tasks, and a common set of performance indicators for graduate attribute assessment supported by our Graduate Attribute Information Analysis system. We demonstrate our approach across three engineering programs (electrical engineering, computer engineering and software engineering) and report on specific issues encountered and results obtained.

A successful co-op program is a partnership between university, student and employer. At the University of Ottawa, we have chosen to use an Employer Evaluation form as a critical component of graduate attribute assessment. We also created a new first year course that introduced students to professional communication and responsibility in order to adequately prepare them for their first work term. The graduate attributes from both the coop work experience and the new course are imported into the Graduate Attributes Information Analysis system (GAIA) we have developed. We show the historical trend analysis at both the course level and the program level generated and provide a sample of how we are using these results to guide improvement of our overall program, as well as the co-op experience of students and employers.

The setting and use of targets in the public sector has generated a growing amount of interest in the UK. This has occurred at a time when more analysts and policymakers are grasping the nettle of measuring performance in and of the public sector. We outline a typology of performance indicators and a set of desiderata. We compare the outcome of a performance management system — star ratings for acute hospital trusts in England — with a productivity measure analogous to those used in the analysis of the private sector. We find that the two are almost entirely unrelated. Although this may be the case for entirely proper reasons, it does raise questions as to the appropriateness of such indicators of performance, particularly over the long term.

Presenting findings from our global evidence review of menopause transition and economic participation emboldened us to establish a menopause policy at the university where we all worked at the time. Our report was published in July 2017 and the policy was in place by November that year. Our critical reflection on this activism focuses on issues that are not commonly recognized around such interventions, and which we ourselves have only been able to acknowledge through engaged action. Challenges remain in normalizing menopause in organizations, specifically around gendered ageism and performance management. In drawing on Meyerson and Kolb’s framework for understanding gender in organizations, we highlight how policies are both vital and yet insufficient in and of themselves in revising the dominant discourse around menopause at work. At the same time, we highlight the importance and shortcomings of academic activism within these processes.

As an initial step in preparing faculty members for the new outcomes-based accreditation process introduced by the CEAB, a pilot workshop on creating learning objectives was developed for engineering professors at the University of Toronto. As the Graduate Attributes will be mapped to individual courses within engineering programs, the need for course-based learning objectives is even more critical; although research already supports the development and use of learning objectives as an effective educational practice. . This paper will describe the process of developing the workshop, facilitating it for the first time, and the lessons learned that were used in developing a second iteration of the workshop.

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze or re-evaluate the performance indicators of the Cirebon Regional Government contained in the 2019 LAKIP document with the OPM & M approach, so that an overview of the conditions of performance indicators in the LAKIP document can be seen, the suitability of information between performance indicators in the stipulation document performance and LAKIP documents, and the suitability of performance target information contained in planning documents (RPJMD, RKPD, TAPKIN) to reporting documents (LAKIP). The data used in this study are primary and secondary data with the sampling technique using purposive sampling. The analysis technique used in this research is descriptive technique with qualitative methods and a case study approach. The results showed that (1) the performance targets contained in the planning documents and accountability reports of government agencies had not shown the suitability of the information. (2) The performance indicators of the Cirebon Regency government which are contained in the planning documents and performance reporting documents have shown the suitability of the information. (3) SKPD performance targets and performance indicators contained in the Regional Government's 5-year planning document (RPJMD) with the SKPD 5-year planning document (Renstra SKPD) have shown the suitability of the information. (4) Performance indicators in SKPD planning documents with SKPD reporting documents have shown conformity of information. (5) The factors that become the consideration of the Cirebon Regency government in preparing performance indicators are due to the obligations of laws and regulations, so that when viewed from the institutional theory this situation is classified as coercive isomorphism. The importance of performance based benchmarking has become a necessity in a modern construction company and presents a constant challenge for the construction industry. The aim of this paper is to elaborate significance, role and types of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in the construction industry and show how different management perspectives perceive the indicators. A literature review was carried out in order to generate a listing of KPIs, used among academe and the industry. Afterwards, using surveys and semi‐structured interviews, the data was gathered from more than 30 South‐East European construction companies. Results were analyzed, producing a final set of 37 indicators. This study identified a low level of awareness of KPI models and performance management processes among the companies. Furthermore, the analysis showed a substantial difference in perception of KPIs among investors, consultants and contractors, which consequently led to a compiling list of KPIs. The top ten KPI's are: Quality, Cost, Number of investor interferences, Changes in project support, Time increase, Client satisfaction, Employees’ satisfaction, Innovation and learning, Time and Identification of client's interest. The paper concludes with final remarks and guidelines for the implementation of KPIs in practice. Be to, paaiškejo, kad investuotojai, konsultantai ir rangovai PVR suvokia gana skirtingai, ir del to teko sudaryti PVR saraša. Dešimt pagrindiniu PVR yra šie: kokybe, kaina, investuotojo kišimosi atveju skaičius, pasikeitusi parama projektui, nukelti terminai, kliento pasitenkinimas, darbuotoju pasitenkinimas, naujoves ir mokymasis, laikas, kliento interesu nustatymas. Darbo pabaigoje pateikiamos baigiamosios pastabos ir PVR taikymo praktikoje rekomendacijos.
