Bureau of mining heavy equipment maintenance at PT. Semen Padang have task in maintenance mine heavy equipment with preventive maintenance although breakdown maintenance. Part inventory is needed to make this activity work properly. If stockout happened will have the impact to PT.Semen Padang mining and production activity. To solve this problem, minimum-maximum inventory control policy is used to give an optimum value of inventory mine heavy equipment. This research is focused in filter and lubricant inventory because they have high demand rate. Data consumption filter and lubricant from January until December 2010 is used in this research. The service level that used is 95%. The result is quantity optimum inventory mine heavy equipment at filter and lubricant with application part inventory of mine heavy equipment. Because it can keep stockout although excess inventory. Keywords: stockout, optimum, inventory

This paper studied service parts inventory control policy of a large equipment manufacturer which is on the transformation to service-embedded manufacturing. In order to get win-win solution for both supplier and client, a new cooperation pattern of service parts management was proposed. And a service parts model of multi-echelon inventory system in the after-sale service market was build based on the analysis of service parts demand under servitizaion. Based on this model, many issues of service parts inventory management were studied. Finally the inventory control parameters were exploited which aims at the maximum profit of service parts inventory. With this method, the reduced inventory of suppliers and improved service level could be calculated quantitatively, which could work as a reference to set price of extensional services. Experiments showed the method proposed in this paper is valid for service-embedded manufacturing firms.

This paper deals with the analysis of uncertain parameters in the (S - 1, S) inventory control policy. In order to determine the number of spare parts under the policy, parameters in a probability model for the number of failures during a replenishment lead time should be interpreted first. In case of the negative binomial distributed failures, the presented interpretation facilitates the incorporation of experts' opinions into the estimation of uncertain parameters. Determination of parameters via their interpretation is useful for deciding a service level in the area of reliability-based inventory control.

We solve a novel inventory-location model with a stochastic capacity constraint based on a periodic inventory control (ILM-PR) policy. The ILM-PR policy implies several changes with regard to other previous models proposed in the literature, which consider continuous review as their inventory policy. One of these changes is the inclusion of the undershoot concept, which has not been considered in previous ILM models in the literature. Based on our model, we are able to design a distribution network for a two-level supply chain, addressing both warehouse location and customer assignment decisions, whilst taking into consideration several aspects of inventory planning, in particular, evaluating the impact of the inventory control review period on the network configuration and system costs. Because the model is a very hard-to solve combinatorial nonlinear optimisation problem, we implemented two heuristics to solve it, namely, Tabu Search and Particle Swarm Optimisation. These approaches were tested over small instances in which they were able to find the optimal solution in just a few seconds. Because the model is a new one, a set of medium-size instances is provided that can be useful as a benchmark in future research. The heuristics showed a good convergence rate when applied to those instances. The results confirm that decision making over the inventory control policy has effects on the distribution network design.

Abstract Between the months of February and April of 2020, average weekly market hours in the U.S. dropped by 6.25, meanwhile 36% of workers reported switching to remote work arrangements. In this paper, we examine implications of these changes for the time allocation of different households, and on aggregate. We estimate that home production activity increased by 2.65 h a week, or 42.4% of lost market hours, due to the drop in market work and rise in remote work. The monthly value of home production increased by $39.65 billion – that is 13.55% of the concurrent $292.61 billion drop in monthly GDP. Although market hours declined the most for single, less educated individuals, the lost market hours were absorbed into home production the most by married individuals with children. Adding on the impact of school closures, our estimate of weekly home production hours increases by as much as 4.92 h. The increase in the value of monthly home production between February and April updates to $73.57 billion. We also report the estimated impact of labor markets and telecommuting on home production for each month in 2020.
