Crown lengthening is a procedure widely used in periodontal practice, for esthetic procedures and also for pre-prosthetic ones; situation that is present with great frequency in the daily practice in periodontics. It is very important the knowledge of the anatomic structures of the periodontal anatomy in order to do a proper surgical procedure, preceded by a deep clinical and radiological exam and a pertinent treatment prosthetic plan. It is also important that the clinician knows all the surgical techniques, because not all the procedures need the same approach and there are certain anatomic and surgical characteristics that must be taken in concern at the moment of planning a surgical crown lengthening. In this article we present a clinical case where it is integrated the periodontal and prosthetic discipline.

Subject. The obturator for dissociation of an oral cavity from a nose cavity, the maxillary of cavities, the post surgeons of defects of maxillary bones. Purpose ― to carry out stomatology rehabilitation of the patient with the acquired defect of the lower jaw with use of the obturator. Methodology. Surgical treatment in maxillofacial area, often doesn't do without appearance of defects of maxillary bones. Elimination of the arising deformations unconditionally perhaps both surgical techniques, and orthopedic designs. Temporary closure of the formed defects and restoration of functions of breath, the speech and food can be the purpose of orthopedic maintenance, at surgical interventions, as division of an oral cavity from cavities of a nose, a bosom, and. We made use of experience of production of various obturator at more than 50 patients needing orthopedic rehabilitation for writing of this article, and in honesty in production of various designs the obturator of artificial limbs, at the moment and after the surgical and combined methods of treatment of new growths of maxillary bones postponed. All of them are at different stages of rehabilitation. Results. On example of a clinical case is shown a possible orthopedic way of closing of temporary defect of the lower jaw, by production of the obturator artificial limb adapted in an oral cavity. The Obturator artificial limb has the small sizes, can independently be established and be taken by the patient, for hygienic leaving, doesn't influence diction and an articulation, helps to avoid of postoperative defect and also to normalize meal. Conclusions. The assessment of results of the carried-out orthopedic treatment is carried out, its efficiency is established, practical recommendations about clinical use and ways of production are made.

Hemorrhagic thrombocytopathy with defective signal transduction CalDAG-GEFI is a rare disease associated with a mutation in the RASGRP2 gene. At the moment, this disease is described in 10 person in the world. We present clinical case report of this pathology of a 9-year-old child. We also offer a review of the available literature about pathogenetic features, clinical manifestations and prevalence of this rare disease. The patient’s parents gave their consent to the use of their child’s data, including photographs, for research purposes and in publications.

Aim: The aim of this paper is to describe a clinical case in which the patient's gingival melanin pigmentation was treated using diamond burs and scalpels.Case report: The present study describes a periodontal plastic surgery procedure to correct or improve the amount of gingival melanin pigmentation apparent on mandibular and maxillary arch of the patient. Conclusions: After the surgical procedure successfully performed, and considering the high degree of satisfaction of the patient, the author concluded that the studied technique is easy to perform and stands out because of the excellent results achieved.

Ankyloglossia is an anatomical variation that has been associated with a variety of problems such as: suckling, swallowing and speaking. In this perspective, frenotomy is a surgical procedure commonly performed on babies to correct ankyloglossia. In this sense, the objective of this work is to report a clinical case of ankyloglossia in which the frenotomy procedure was performed on twin newborns, who had difficulty breastfeeding, carried out in the Extension Project “Língua Solta”, from the Federal University of Pernambuco. The evaluation of the lingual frenulum followed the protocol recommended by Martinelli, 2013. After application of the protocol, newborns showed the need to perform frenotomies. The surgeries were performed and, after 7 days, the babies showed significant improvement in breastfeeding. The diagnosis made, through the protocol and experienced professionals, is of fundamental importance for the success of the surgery. In addition, early intervention contributes to improved breastfeeding and development of the newborn.

Forequarter (interscapulothoracic) amputation is a major ablative surgical procedure that was originally described to manage traumatic injuries of the upper extremity. Currently, it is most commonly used in the treatment of malignant tumours of the arm. With the advent of limb-sparing techniques, primary forequarter amputation is performed less frequently, but remains a powerful surgical option in managing malignant tumours of the upper extremity; therefore, surgeons should be familiar with this procedure. A classic case report of forequarter amputation, with emphasis on indications and surgical techniques, is presented.

Mini screws represent a new treatment modality in orthodontic biomechanics. They provide absolute anchorage, no secondary movements and reduced orthodontic treatment time. Futhermore, the surgical procedure for mini implants placement is quite simple and this type of treatment requires no patient compliance. We selected a clinical case in order to emphasize one of the most important indications of the mini implants: retrusion of the upper incisors for a incresed overjet case in a young patient. Two mini implants were placed in order to obtain the correction of the overjet and the retrusion of the anterior teeth. The retrusion was obtained in a reduced period of time using retraction devices on crimpable hooks.

Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome is neuropathy of compressive origin, surgical treatment can present complications that are difficult to solve, among them, painful neuromas of the peripheral nerves, affecting 2–60% of patients with nerve damage. There is no consensus on the ideal treatment for painful neuroma. Consequently, numerous modalities to treat neuroma pain are described. Case report: Female, 45 years old, presented with a left hand carpal tunnel syndrome clinic. There is a report of having undergone a surgical procedure for decompression of the carpal tunnel with endoscopy, progressing with worsening of symptoms. Another surgical procedure was performed (conventional open route) in the region of the left wrist with intra-op visualization of total nerve rupture. Neurorrhaphy of the median nerve was performed. Patient came to our service complaining of severe pain (VAS 9/10) in median nerve topography associated with paresis of the muscles innervated by the same. Neuroma resection and sural nerve grafting for the tenar motor branch, ulnar and radial median group and patient evolved with significant pain improvement (VAS of 2/10). Discussion: A wide variety of surgical techniques are described to treat painful neuroma. In this case, the success of the chosen tchnique is evidenced by the drop of 07 points in the VAS. Conclusion: It is evident that the endoscopic correction of carpal tunnel syndrome is not without complications and should be indicated with caution. It is necessary to carry out more studies that can evidence the best conduct for each case.
