The article is devoted to the monuments of modern Old Believers’ culture – hand-drawn wall sheets with large text fragments created by the Old Believers of the Chapel Concord living on the Yenisei. These sheets are both a continuation of the Old Russian and Old Believer traditions and a form of modern propaganda art. In this article, the works of the Old Believers of the 20th century are considered in the context of their historical origins. Statement of the problem. Since the Old Believers’ culture as a whole is characterized by deep knowledge of the previous book culture and traditionalism of thinking, for comprehensive assessment of the painted sheets as a cultural phenomenon, it seems necessary to establish to what extent the creators of these monuments, which have an ultramodern form, were guided by tradition. The purpose of the article is to identify the literary and pictorial sources of the painted sheets of the Yenisei chapels and to characterize the features of their use. Review of scientific literature. The monuments were recently put into scientific circulation by a group of scientists who conducted archaeografical expeditions in Yenisei Siberia. The published works by A.A. Prigarin, E.V. Bykova, A.V. Kostrov, and A.A. Storozhenko are mainly devoted to the problem of visualization of images and characteristics of the environment for these sheets. Methodology. Classical historical, philological and comparative methods are used in the work. The results of the study. Specific sources of such sheets as “Two Roads – Two Ways”, “Ship of Faith” (“Ship of the Cross”), “World Wide Web. The World Wide Net” revealed the exact textual and pictorial quotations used by their creators from various editions of the facial Apocalypse, and the Life of Basil the New. In addition, the tradition is shown, within the framework of which the sheet “The inner state of the human heart during a righteous and sinful life” was created. Conclusion. A detailed analysis of the hand-drawn pictures that exist among modern Yenisei Old Believers of the Chapel Concord, shows that with all their modern content and form, they continue and creatively develop the age-old Old Believers’ tradition, which is based on a high book culture and religious thinking. Deep knowledge of this tradition is precisely confirmed by a variety of not only textual, but also pictorial quotations from the Apocalypse and other authoritative eschatological writings.

Pagrindiniai žodžiai: inglingai, Kabala, lingvistika, neopagonys, rasizmas.Linguistical Transformations of IdentityAušra Kristina PažėraitėSummary In this paper I presented an analysis of a recent religious movement in Russia, called “The Old Russian Pravoslavian Old Believers – inglingian Church“ (Древнерусская церковь православных староверов-инглингов). This neo-pagan movement, whose founder, Alexander Yuryevich Hinevich, using a variety of linguistic manipulation and “Slavonic Vedas” of unknown origins, increasingly spreading up in paper and electronic format, – is trying ambitiously justify his doctrine of the genetic origins of ancestors of Slavic (having in mind Russian) – Aryan peoples going down to gods (namely Perun) for many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, years ago, who descended here, on the planet Earth from other planets, and occupied the northern hemisphere. Slavic-Aryan culture, in accordance with his doctrine (and of the rest of close to his church neo-pagan authorities, in particularly that of Trehlebov’), has been a real originator of all great civilizations in the World, but during the time of introduction of Christianity in Russia other nations “have robbed their history and their cultural advancements” trying to destroy their national memory by imposing them degraded self-images... In this study is presented analysis of “linguistic approach” of Hinevich, which revealed, that he uses a series of interpretative methods of Jewish Kabbalah, which fit naturally to semitic languages, but not so well to Indo-European ones. What results in distortion made by Hinevich of Russian language rules to fit those interpretative methods, not neglecting to explain that these techniques are also old Russian techniques, which were from them took off. As a possible prototype of these Kabbalistic methods was presented some examples from the Zohar with commentaries. Keywords: ingliizm, Kabbalah, hermeneutics, racism, neopagans.

The term "self-organized criticality" in the scientific literature is shown to have spread in a fractal, tree-like process. The probability that one of the original papers will be cited in a subsequent paper is related to the random network growth of the entire field, much like the growth of the World Wide Web. This is in opposition to recent publications that argue for a multiplicative process in scientific publishing where publishing success is based on attributes directly inherent to the author.

Abstract The world market for food supplements is large and is driven by the claims of these products to, for example, treat obesity, increase focus and alertness, decrease appetite, decrease the need for sleep or reduce impulsivity. The use of illegal compounds in food supplements is a continuous threat, certainly because these compounds and products have not been tested for safety by competent authorities. It is therefore of the utmost importance for the competent authorities to know when new products are being marketed and to warn users against potential health risks. In this study we present an approach to detect new and unknown stimulants in food supplements using machine learning. More than 20 new stimulants were identified from two different data sources, namely scientific literature applying word embedding on > 2 million abstracts and articles from formal and social media on the world wide web using text mining. The results show that the developed approach may be suitable to detect “unknowns” in the emerging risk identification activities performed by the competent authorities, which is currently a major hurdle.

The article is devoted to research of features of mythological model, which is reflected in the late journalism of Valentin Rasputin. The complex of interconnected myths is revealed, their historical roots are traced. The eschatological myth is considered; the author shows that the messianic idea of Russia’s unique role in the world is accompanied by the construction of the enemy image. Images of internal enemies (liberals) and external enemies (Europe and America) are demonized. The eschatological experiences of the crisis moments of “adjustment period” and the beginning of the 21st century are accompanied by utopian nostalgia for the “Golden Age”, which the writer saw in the historical background of Russia, particularly in the Soviet era. The article considers Rasputin’s utopian idea of power and the government leader. Denying liberal values, the writer asserts the idea of a strong ruler, whose main function is to “fulfill God’s laws”. Stalin is recognized as an example of a leader who expressed the «national spirit». Rasputin’s mythology has common features with the concept of “Third Rome” and with some categories of Old Russian autocratic ideology of the 16th century, as well as with the ideas of Old Believers. The article traces the ways of constructing the author’s myth. The writer’s mythology is based on non-critical use of concepts and myths and is based on archetypes of national mythology. Besides, the writer constructs the myth with the help of language tools, creating neologisms and using estimation vocabulary. Rasputin's mythological model reflects the conceptual core of conservative ideology.

The integrity of book culture is examined from the viewpoint of dialectical unity of the dynamic and the static: what ensures reader interest and long life of printed books in the historical time and what makes the mobile superstructure adapting the book culture to the changing environment and expanding its life. The author emphasizes that the book culture subject-object and subject categories, i.e. the humans and books/documents, take up the more stable and static positions. The book culture stability is manifested through its autonomy and persistence within the changing historical and cultural landscape (homeostasis, autopoiesis, and self-referencing). The dynamics is manifested in the processes of organization, disorganization and self-reorganization. The author substantiates that the World Wide Web enforces the fundamentals of the printed books and printed word; the functionality of libraries is to change in the future as they will be functioning both offline and online. These factors will influence the book culture and give rise to its new forms and contents. The technological era challenges the human ecosystem. The deep processes have been changing the book culture. However, the inevitability of the process must not be overestimated. Being analyzed and interpreted, the process can be managed.

Purpose. The World Wide Web has become a significant source of health information for the public, but there is concern that much of the information is inaccurate, misleading, and unsupported by scientific evidence. To explore this issue, the validity of health claims for the herb Opuntia on the World Wide Web was analyzed. Data Sources. From December 1998 to May 1999, health claims were identified from Web sites utilizing nine search engines. A corresponding search was conducted of the scientific literature. Search terms included common and botanical names for Opuntia. Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria. Nutritional support guidelines for herbs were used to identify claims from relevant sites. Scientific studies included established methodological designs with no restrictions on source, language, type of subjects, or dosage forms for Opuntia. Data Extraction Methods. A checklist of significant information was prepared for Web sites and scientific studies. The quality of scientific studies was assessed with two instruments, the Jadad and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) scales. Data Synthesis. Validity of health claims on Web sites was compared with scientific reports. Searches retrieved 184 Web sites, 98 with health claims and 51 with research studies. Only 34% of the claims were addressed in the scientific literature, and evidence was conflicting or contradictory. For human studies, none met the criteria for high quality as determined by the Jadad and JAMA scales. Major Conclusions. The majority of health claims were based on folklore or indirect scientific evidence and could not be validated by scientific research. This suggests a need to check the validity of herbal information on the World Wide Web.

AbstractFe XIV 530.3 nm coronal emission line observations have been used for the estimation of the green solar corona rotation. A homogeneous data set, created from measurements of the world-wide coronagraphic network, has been examined with a help of correlation analysis to reveal the averaged synodic rotation period as a function of latitude and time over the epoch from 1947 to 1991.The values of the synodic rotation period obtained for this epoch for the whole range of latitudes and a latitude band ±30° are 27.52±0.12 days and 26.95±0.21 days, resp. A differential rotation of green solar corona, with local period maxima around ±60° and minimum of the rotation period at the equator, was confirmed. No clear cyclic variation of the rotation has been found for examinated epoch but some monotonic trends for some time intervals are presented.A detailed investigation of the original data and their correlation functions has shown that an existence of sufficiently reliable tracers is not evident for the whole set of examinated data. This should be taken into account in future more precise estimations of the green corona rotation period.
