Increasing the efficiency of steam boilers is largely due to the timely cleaning of heating surfaces, which improves their steam efficiency and saves a significant amount of conditional fuel. One of the promising directions in this way is the use of pneumatic pulse technology, which ensures the production of highefficiency, safe, remotely controlled cleaning systems. The implementation of this technology involves, among other things, evaluating the composition and layout of the necessary equipment of the compressor shop, solving the problems of their optimal design.

Abstract Off-grid concepts for homes and buildings have been a fast-growing trend worldwide in the last few years because of the rapidly dropping cost of renewable energy systems and their self-sufficient nature. Off-grid homes/buildings can be enabled with various energy generation and storage technologies, however, design optimization and integration issues have not been explored sufficiently. This paper applies a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) optimization to obtain an optimal design of integrated distributed energy systems for off-grid homes in various climate regions. Distributed energy systems consisting of renewable and non-renewable power generation technologies with energy storage are employed to enable off-grid homes/buildings and meet required building electricity demands. In this study, the building types under investigation are residential homes. Multiple distributed energy resources are considered such as combined heat and power systems (CHP), solar photovoltaic (PV), solar thermal collector (STC), wind turbine (WT), as well as battery energy storage (BES) and thermal energy storage (TES). Among those technologies, CHP, PV, and WT are used to generate electricity, which satisfies the building's electric load, including electricity consumed for space heating and cooling. Solar thermal energy and waste heat recovered from CHP are used to partly supply the building's thermal load. Excess electricity and thermal energy can be stored in the BES and TES for later use. The MOGA is applied to determine the best combination of DERs and each component's size to reduce the system cost and carbon dioxide emission for different locations. Results show that the proposed optimization method can be effectively and widely applied to design integrated distributed energy systems for off-grid homes resulting in an optimal design and operation based on a trade-off between economic and environmental performance.

This paper describes a method for optimizing the design of a spar-type composite aircraft wing structure based on multi-criterion approach. Two types of composite wing structures such as two-spar and three-spar ones were considered. The optimal design of a wing frame was determined by the Pareto method basing on three criteria: minimal weight, minimal wing deflection, maximal safety factor and minimal weight. Positions of wing frame parts, i.e. spars and ribs, were considered as optimization parameters. As a result, an optimal design of a composite spar-type wing was proposed. All the calculations necessary to select the optimal structural and design of the spar composite wing were performed using nonlinear static finite element analysis in the FEMAP with NX Nastran software package.

The article deals with such an important selection of the elements of electronic scheme of the given configuration, when the certain requirements of technical task are satisfied and at the same time the selected optimality criteria reach the extreme value. The gives task has been solved by the method of one-criterion optimization, in particular, the method of center gravity. To formalize the given scheme we have compiled a mathematical model of optimization, which considers the requirements of technical task. The optimal design task of the presented electronic scheme was brought to the task of multi criteria optimization. The computational experiments have been resulted in the Pareto-optimal solutions, from which there was selected a compromise on that corresponds to the minimum capacity, required by the scheme. According to the optimal values of resistors, we have conducted a computerized analysis of the transient process of the given electronic scheme with the help of a computer program Electronics Workbench.

Abstract The paper presents the results of the numerical analyses for the steam turbine rotor, dedicated for the newly-designed 900 MW steam unit with supercritical steam parameters (650 °C, 30.0 MPa). Basing on the design calculations, an optimal design solution was determined. Review of the available literature on materials for turbine rotors with supercritical steam parameters was done. Then the start-ups of the turbine were simulated. Thermal and strength states were analyzed. As a result, an optimal start-up characteristic was obtained.

A scheme of a statically determinate planar truss is proposed and an analytical calculation of its deflection and displacement of the mobile support are obtained. The forces in the rods from the external load, uniformly distributed over the nodes of the lower or upper belt, are determined by the method of cutting out nodes using the computer mathematic system Maple. In the generalization of a number of solutions of trusses with a different number of panels to the general case, the general terms of the sequence of coefficients in the formulas are found from solutions of linear homogeneous recurrence equations. To compose and solve these equations, Maple operators were used. In the process of calculation it was revealed that for even numbers of panels in half the span, the determinant of the system of equations degenerates. This corresponds to the kinematic degeneracy of the structure. The corresponding scheme of possible speeds of the truss is given. The displacement was determined by the Maxwell-Mohr’s formula. The graphs of the obtained dependences have appreciable jumps, which in principle can be used in the selection of optimal design sizes.
