Abstract This research was conducted with the main objective to develop a model of character education integrated with science learning in elementary, junior, and senior high schools. The research was focused on the needs analysis study involving 36 elementary school science teachers, 34 junior high school science teachers and 27 senior high school science teachers to collect information on science learning in relation to character education. Data were collected by questionnaires, observation and interviewing techniques. Data were analyzed by descriptive and qualitative meaning. The results showed that: 1) character education can be developed through selection of science learning model, assessment model, and teaching materials, 2) science learning models that contribute significantly to the development of the character of students are inquiry learning, problem-based learning, cooperative learning , science-technology-society, problem solving, and contextual learning models, 3) science teacher’s responses to the character education are generally very positive and seek to develop good character through a learning process, 4) some (55.3%) science teachers include indicators of character values that to be target of learning in the syllabus and lesson plans, and some (44.7%) do not explicitly specify its, but implicitly implied in the syllabus and lesson plans. Keywords: character education, integrated science learning

This research is motivated by the lack of knowledge of teachers in the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 on the learning process. Teachers do not understand fully the curriculum in 2013, because of socialization of the service is still lacking. The problem in this study is how the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 of integrated thematic learning on the theme?óÔé¼?ØIndahnya Negeriku?óÔé¼?Ø Sub Theme ?óÔé¼?ôKeanekaragaman Hewan dan Tumbuhan?óÔé¼?Ø class IV in the 2nd half of the fourth grade students of SDN Tompomulyo 02?. The purpose of this study is to investigate the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 on the theme of integrated thematic learning on the theme?óÔé¼?ØIndahnya Negeriku?óÔé¼?Ø Sub Theme ?óÔé¼?ôKeanekaragaman Hewan dan Tumbuhan?óÔé¼?Ø class IV in the 2nd half of the fourth grade students of SDN Tompomulyo 02.This research uses descriptive qualitative research approach that is research data collection in the form of words. Location of the study in 02 Pati SDN Tompomulyo fourth grade 2nd semester.Data sourced words research results. The average percentage of lesson plans prepared by teachers good observer I category with a percentage of 82,21%, a good observer II category with a percentage of 81,77% . The average percentage of the implementation of learning that teachers do a good observer I category with a percentage of 82,19%, a good observer II category with a percentage of 8,.43%. Assessment of learning evaluation conducted after a study showed that six of 21 people there are 10 students or 47,62% to the category of very good, good category there are 5 students with a percentage of 23,80%, good enough category there are 4 students with a percentage of 19,05%, unfavorable category there are 2 students or 9,53%, and there were no students in the category of bad result.Suggestions given to teachers , learners and the school is implementing in order to further develop the learning in the classroom in accordance with the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 .

The study was conducted in Wai Sari sub-watershed, Western Seram Regency Maluku to develop an accurate land degradation assessment model for tropical small islands. The Stocking’s field land degradation measurement and RUSLE methods were applied to estimate soil loss by erosion and the results of both methods were statistically tested in order to obtain a correction factor. Field indicators and prediction data were measured on 95 slope units derived from the topographic map. The rates of soil loss were calculated according to both methods, and the results were used to classify the degree of land degradation. The results show that the degree of land degradation based on the field assessment ranges from none-slight (4.04 - 17.565 t/ha/yr) to very high (235.44 - 404.00 t/ha/yr), while the RUSLE method ranges from none-slight (0.04-4.59 t/ha/yr) to very high 203.90 - 518.13 t/ha/yr.  However, the RUSLE method shows much higher in average soil loss (133.4 t/ha/yr) than the field assessment (33.9 t/ha/yr). The best regression equation of  logD/RP = - 0.594 + 1.0 logK + 1.0 logLS + 1.0 logC or D = 0.2547xRxKxLSx CxP was found to be a more suitable land degradation assessment  model for a small-scale catchment area in the tropical small islands.
