The coral reef ecosystem is one of the typical tropical ecosystems with high biodiversity which has an important role both biologically, ecologically, physically as well as socially and economically. Several coral reef areas in Indonesia were reported to have suffered damage, not only due to climate change which has an impact on rising sea surface temperatures and ocean acidification but also due to anthropogenic factors and irresponsible management of marine tourism. This study aimed to analyze the condition of coral reefs based on covering in Pramuka Island, which is one of the famous tourist destinations in the Seribu Islands. The study was conducted using Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method at predetermined coordinate points. The results showed that the dominant coral reef life form was Acropora Submassive (ACS), namely 18.9%, and Acropora Branching (ACB) as much as 12.48%. Besides, the types of life forms found were coral foliase (9.42%), Miliepora Coral (9.2%), Coral Massive (4.8%), Acropora Encrustring (4.24%), and so on. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the condition of coral reefs in Pramuka Island is still relatively good with a total coral cover percentage of 72.38%. Efforts to protect the coral reef ecosystem in this area need to be considered so that its condition can be maintained.

Conservation effort and knowledge on coral reef ecosystem are necessary to protect marine ecosystem. Coral reef ecosystem is very important to support marine biota especially fishes and benthos. The presence of coral reef indirectly support local people income, therefore is is necessary to conserve coral reef ecosystem. District of South Waigeo is one of tourist area as well as preserve area in Raja Ampat Regency of Papua Barat Province. The aim of this study is to identify the current condition of coral reef in Saporken Village of South waigeo District. Data were collected by survey method using coral reefs Point intercept transect method, observation and interviews to determine the social, economic and cultural impact., and measures taken to manage coral reef management in village Saporkren Marine Protected Areas. The results showed that knowledge Saporkren Village community, the conservation community knows about how destructive such arrests are not carried out the bombing, while the traditional way people work is local wisdom. Condition of coral cover in the village of Marine Protected Areas Saporkren in good condition (live coral cover=51%) and very good water quality, flow velocity at high tide ranged from 4.25 to 22.3 cm/sec and the flow velocity at low tide over small ranging from 5.07 to 19.60 cm/sec, salinity ranged from 32–35‰ and wave height ranged from 0.75 m. Based on the results of this study concluded that: Village community know Saporkren conservation activities of local government programs, and the traditional way to preserve coral reef still implemented.Key words: Conservation, coral reefs, Saporkren village, Raja Ampat.

Foraminifera telah banyak digunakan sebagai indikator kualitas perairan sekitar terumbu karang di Indonesia berdasarkan perbandingan kelompok foraminifera bentonik tertentu. Studi tersebut diterapkan di sekitar Pulau Tegal, Teluk Lampung yang merupakan salah satu destinasi wisata yang secara tidak langsung memberikan pengaruh terhadap ekosistem terumbu karang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur komunitas foraminifera bentonik kaitannya dengan kondisi perairan terumbu karang Pulau Tegal, Teluk Lampung. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 16 stasiun penelitian di Pulau Tegal yang mewakili semua sisi pulau dengan variasi kedalaman dari 0 meter hingga 28 meter. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan 6.918 spesimen foraminifera bentonik dengan keanekaragaman yang tergolong rendah. Genera Amphistegina dan Elphidium ditemukan sangat melimpah pada hampir seluruh stasiun. Nilai Indeks FORAM (FI) diatas 4 ditemukan pada 11 stasiun penelitian yang mengindikasikan bahwa sebagian besar perairan Pulau Tegal berada dalam kondisi yang sangat baik dan kondusif untuk pertumbuhan serta pemulihan terumbu karang. Hasil ini sejalan dengan melimpahnya kehadiran kelompok foraminifera yang berasosiasi dengan terumbu karang pada perairan Pulau Tegal.Kata Kunci: Bioindikator, Pulau Tegal, Indeks FORAM, Terumbu Karang, Komunitas.Foraminifera has been widely used as an indicator of the quality of the waters around coral reefs in Indonesia based on the comparison of certain groups of benthonic foraminifera. The study was implemented around Tegal Island, Lampung Bay, which is one of the tourist destinations that influence the coral reef ecosystem. This study aims to determine the structure of bentonic foraminifera communities related to the condition of the coral reef waters of Tegal Island, Lampung Bay. This research was conducted at 16 research stations in Tegal Island representing all sides of the island with variations in depth from 0 m to 28 m water depth. The results of this study found 6.918 specimens of bentonic foraminifera with relatively low diversity. The genera Amphistegina and Elphidium were found to be very abundant in almost all stations. The FORAM Index (FI) above 4 was found in 11 research stations which indicated that most of the waters of Tegal Island were in very good conditions and conducive to the growth and recovery of coral reefs. This result is in line with the abundance of the presence of foraminifera groups associated with coral reefs in the waters of Tegal Island. Abstract Coral Reef Condition In Coastal Waters of Empu Rancak, Mlonggo, Regency of Jepara Empu Rancak coastal  waters in Karanggondang village, Mlonggo District is one of the coral reef ecosystem location in coastal area of  Jepara Regency. Following the growth of culinary and Marine  tourism bring the need for monitoring the condition of coral reefs so that such activity does not provide ecological impacts against the condition of coral reefs. The method used to assess the condition of coral reefs  is Line Intercept Transect which done by percentage calculation of living coral coverage. The research results shows that the condition of the coral reefs in a depth of 3 metres found coral cover percentage of 4.5%, while at a depth of 6 meters found coral cover percentage of 9.7%. From this result indicates the coral reefs in critical condition,however the high biodiversity and dominance index value is presumed that these coral reefs was in good condition. It`s showed by the high percentage of coral die either at a depth of 3 metres (95.54%) or at a depth of 6 meters(90.30%). The diversity of species of coral were found at a depth of 3 meters consist of 6 genus, they are: Goniastrea sp., Favia sp., Galaxea sp., Porites, Acropora sp. and Montipora sp., whereas at a depth of 6 meters were found more species of coral diversity for at least 11 genus, they are: Acropora sp., Favites sp., Echinopora sp., Goniastrea sp. Symphyllia agaricia sp, Favia sp., Goniopora sp., Porites sp., Montipora sp., Platygyra sp., and Montastrea sp. The condition of coral reefs cover which relatively critical are caused by decreasing the quality of waters ecology that caused by sedimentation rate and runoff processes of land activity, high waves in northwest monsoon and the growth of culinary tourism as well as marine  tourism in Empu Rancak coastal  waters gradually worsen the condition of coral reefs. Keywords : Coral reef, tourism, Line Intercept Transect, AbstrakPerairan pantai Empu Rancak desa Karanggondang, Kecamatan Mlonggo merupakan salah satu lokasi ekosistem  terumbu karang yang berada pesisir di kabupaten Jepara. Dengan berkembangnya aktivitas wisata kuliner serta wisata  bahari, maka perlu dilakukan pemantauan kondisi terumbu karang agar kegiatan tersebut tidak tidak memberikan dampak ekologi terhadap kondisi terumbu karang. Metode yang dipergunakan untuk menilai kondisi terumbu karang adalah  dengan metode perhitungan persentase penutupan karang hidup menggunakan Line Intercept Transect. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Kondisi terumbu karang di kedalaman 3 meter ditemukan prosentasi tutupan karang sebesar 4,5 %, sedangkan pada kedalaman 6 meter ditemukan prosentase tutupan karang sebesar 9,7 %, maka kondisi terumbu karang di perairan pantai empu rancak Mlonggo, dalam kondisi buruk sekali, namun tingginya keanekaragaman dan nilai indeks dominasi, maka diduga bahwa terumbu karang dilokasi penelitian pernah dalam kondisi baik sebelumnya. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan tingginya prosentase karang mati baik pada kedalaman 3 meter (95,54 %) maupun pada kedalaman 6 meter (90,30 %). Keanekaragaman jenis karang yang ditemukan pada kedalaman 3 meter terdiri atas 6 genus yaitu : GoniastreaSp., Favia Sp., Galaxea Sp., Porites Sp., Acropora Sp.,dan Montipora Sp.,sedangkan pada kedalaman 6 meter ditemukan keanekaraamanan jenis karang yang lebih banyak (11 genus), yaitu : Acropora sp., Favites sp., Echinopora sp., Goniastrea sp., Symphyllia agaricia, Favia sp., Goniopora sp., Porites sp., Montipora sp., Platygyra sp. ,dan Montastrea sp. Kondisi tutupan terumbu karang yang relatif buruk sekali  diduga  diakibatkan oleh menurunnya kualitas ekologi perairan yang diakibatkan oleh oleh tekanan  laju  sedimentasi serta proses  run off dari aktivitas didaratan, tingginya paparan  gelombang pada saat musim barat serta  berkembangnya  wisata kuliner serta wisata bahari  di perairan Pantai Empu rancak yang  memperburuk kondisi terumbu karang.  Kata Kunci : Terumbu Karang, pariwisata, Line Intercept Transect

Coral reefs are one of the marine tourism potentials that need to be managed in a sustainable manner by looking at the suitability of tourism and the carrying capacity of the environment. Data on the potential for coral reefs will support government programs related to conservation and rehabilitation of coastal and marine ecosystems as a focus area for maritime research. This study aims to determine the potential and percentage of coral reef cover, know the tourism suitability index and environmental carrying capacity, know the direction of coral reef ecosystem management. The research method is using UPT (Underwater Photo Transect), as well as measurement of environmental parameters on Larea-rea Island. Data analysis using CPCe 4.1 software, and Arcgis 10.8 (Kismanto et.al, 2018). Damage to coral reef ecosystems due to environmentally unfriendly fishing activities (Wardani, 2018). The number of lifeform types ranged from 8-12, while the number of fish species obtained was 37-44 species. The suitability class category based on the results of the analysis at the three stations obtained the appropriate category (S2), with a percentage of the IKW value of 50-67% (Yulianda, 2018). Then, area carrying capacity (DDK) in the diving tourism category is an average of 528 people / day from the three stations. Management and development of marine tourism can be done by determining the zone of utilization and rehabilitation of coral reef ecosystems, as well as limiting visitors for certain periods to reduce the potential impact of environmental degradation.

Coral reefs are ecosystems with high productivity while being very vulnerable to environmental changes. The oil spill incident in Balikpapan Bay in 2018 still caused damage to the coral reef ecosystem in Tanjung Jumlai, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan due to the use of dispersants in handling oil spills. Research on the condition of coral reefs is carried out to ensure the sustainability of the benefits of ecosystem products and services provided by coral reef ecosystems to communities around Balikpapan Bay. Coral reef research has been carried out at three transect station locations in the Tanjung Jumlai reef area. This research is aimed to determine the distribution, abundance, and structure of coral reef ecosystems in these waters. The study was conducted in October 2019. Data collection was carried out using the Point Intercept Transect (PIT) method. The results showed that the average percentage of coral cover was 55.7% with a good coral cover category. Substrate covering the bottom of the coral reef ecosystem is dominated by Acropora Tubulate and Acropora Branching from the biotic component, and Dead Coral with Algae and Rubble from the abiotic component. Diversity index value (H') in the waters is categorized as low species richness. This research has been identified only 10 genera in the study area where 9 genera are hard coral species. Similarity Index value (E) included in the medium category and dominance index value (D) belong to the medium category which means that there are no species that are very dominant in the observation area. Water quality at station 1 representing all observation stations shows results that the study area are still appropriate for marine biota according to Minister of Environment Decree 51/2004, except for nitrate content. <p>Bengkoang Island is an unpopulated island in the northern region of the archipelago. The island is divided into 2 zones, Marine Protection Zone and Marine Tourism Utilization Zone, based on the zoning and management plan of the Karimunjawa National Park, Central Java. This research is aimed to observe the condition of the coral reef and coral community fish abundance in Bengkoang Island based on the zoning. There were 2 stations to represent each of the zones at depths of 5 and 10 meters. Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method was used along 100 meters to data the reef substrate and Visual Census method with Belt Transect was used to data the coral community fish. The result showed that the coral cover was the highest in Station 1 at 5 m which was located in the Marine Protection Zone with 80,31%, while the lowest was found in Station 2 at 10 m which was located in the Marine Tourism Utilization Zone with 18,81%. Meanwhile, the coral community fish abudance was the highest in Station 1 at 10 m with 15.600 individual/ha and lowest in Station 2 at 10 m with 4.280 individual/ha. Based on the result, it can be said that the condition of the coral reef ecosystem in Bengkoang Island varies with a high margin between the data stations. Olele Marine Park is one of the Regional Marine Conservation Areas (KKLD) which is designated as a conservation area based on the Decree of the Regent of Bone Bolango No. 165 of 2006. As one of the Marine Parks, the Olele KKLD provides a coral reef ecosystem which is an important asset in attracting local and foreign tourists to visit. Seeing tourism activities in the area referred to by monitoring and observing the condition of coral reefs is a big concern to do for the sake of ecosystem sustainability in the future. This study aims to study the extent and extent of coral cover in the Olele Regional Marine Protected Area. This research was conducted in April to May 2019 in Olele Village. The study used the LIT method at three stations at depths of 2 and 4 meters. The results showed station I depth 2 and 4 m wide coral cover 12.8% and 22.9% classified as bad, station II coral cover area 24.1% and 37.5% classified as poor on the surface of 2 m and moderate at height 4 m, while at station III the area of coral cover is 86.5% at a depth of 2 m and 95.4% a depth of 4 m with coral conditions that are still very good. The abundance of Acanthaster planci can be used as a health indicator of coral reef ecosystem. A high abundance of A. planci become phatogen on coral and an indication of unhealthy coral reef ecosystem. The objective of this study was to evaluate health of coral reef ecosystem based on the abundance of A. planci and the percent coral cover at Tunda Island, Banten. Field observation conducted in January 2014. The stations were selected by purposive sampling method and based on four-wind direction i.e., north, south, east, and west. Reef data was measured using Line Intercept Transect (LIT), while sampling method for A. planci using Belt Transect. Results showed that the water temperature ranged of 26-28°C, brightness 100%, current speed ranging between 0.05 ms-1and 0.19 ms-1, and salinity  of 30-32 ppt. The water quality values showed a normal range which support  the life of the coral and A. planci.  The Percent coral cover ranged of 54.95-73.00% indicating a good condition. The abundanceof A. planci was of 0.02-0.03 ind/m2. Result showed that coral cover percentage and the abundance of A. planci did not have a significant relationship. Eventhough an A. planci eats the coral polip, but with small amount of A. planci in the coral reef, they merely help to clean the old and unhealthy polip.  This activity will help corals to regenerate their polip. Overall, based on the small abundance of A. planci and the relatively high coral cover percentage, the coral reef ecosystem in Tunda island was categorised in a healthy condition. Poncan Godang Island is included in the appropriate category based on the suitability of land for the Sibolga tourist area, with the presence of tourism activities that can also affect the amount of biodiversity in it. Considering the importance of coral reefs for biodiversity and sea urchins which also have a role in coral reef ecosystems, it is necessary to conduct research on the condition of sea urchins population and the percentage of coral reefs on Poncan Godang Island. Sea urchin and coral reef data were collected using the Line Intercept Transect (LIT) method by monitoring directly on the transect line along 50 meters. The results obtained indicate that the population of sea urchins in the waters of Poncan Godang Island, North Sumatra can be described, that sea urchins do not affect the coral reef ecosystem because at stations 1 and 5 there is no sea urchin and the percentage of coral cover is classified as bad, but at station 3 there are 32 individuals with coral reef cover conditions, while at stations with The percentage of good coral cover is that at station 4 there are only 25 individuals, as well as at station 2 where the percentage of coral cover is higher than station 3 and there are no sea urchins

ABSTRAKIkan karang Famili  Scaridae adalah salah satu ikan herbivora yang hidup di ekosistem terumbu karang. Namun keberadaan dan kondisi ikan ini belum banyak diketahui di perairan Taman Nasional Bunaken. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi dan distribusi ikan famili Scaridae yang berhubungan dengan terumbu karang, di Taman Nasional Bunaken yang dilakukan di tiga pulau pada bulan Februari hingga Mei 2017. Pengamatan ini dilakukan dengan metode sensus visual Line Intercept Transect (LIT) Dalam penelitian ini ditemukan keragaman ikan famili Scaridae terdiri dari 9 spesies, dua spesies ikan yaitu Scarus spirus dan S. niger memiliki distribusi spasial di seluruh perairan. Jenis ikan yang memiliki kelimpahan tertinggi adalah S. gobbhan (110 ind/ha).  Kesamaan spesies dicirikan oleh kecenderungan dari kelompok yang terjadi di perairan Pulau Bunaken yang kerucut. Penilaian ekologi ikan Scaridae menunjukkan bahwa terumbu karang di perairan Taman Nasional Bunaken masih dalam kondisi baik.Kata Kunci: Distribu spasial Scaridae, keanekaragaman, Taman Nasional Bunaken ABSTRACTCoral fishes Scaridae family is one of the herbivorous fishes that live in coral reef ecosystem. But  the existence and condition of this fishes has not been widely known in  of Bunaken National Park waters. This study aims to determine the composition and distribution of Scaridae family associated with coral reefs, in Bunaken National Park conducted at three islands in February to May 2017. The observation is ware made with the visual census method Line Intercept Transect (LIT)  In this study found diversity of Scaridae family consists of 9 species, two species Scarus spirus and S. niger has spatial distribution throughout the waters. S. gobbhan has the highest abundance (110 ind/ha). The similarity of species characterized by the tendency to from groups that occur in the conical Bunaken Island waters. Ecological assessment of the Scaridae fish shows that the coral reefs in the waters of Bunaken National Park are still in good condition.Key Words: Spasial Distributian, Scaridae, diversity, Bunaken National Park
