<p>In recent years, an increasing number of private firms are involved in public works using the funding strategy of public-private partnerships (PPPs), especially for civil infrastructure projects such as highways and bridges. In this paper, a framework is proposed to quantify the potential benefits of condition assessment in the operation phase. The updated safety condition of highway bridges is introduced as a constraint of the profit optimization problem. The framework includes the following three steps. First, structural identification is carried out to identify parameter values of the bridge involved in the highway project. Then the reserve capacity under the relevant limit state is calculated based on the requirements of bridge design codes. The last step is to investigate the effects of reserve capacity on the optimal operating profit. This framework is applied to a highway flyover project in Singapore. The optimal operating profit based on quantified reserve capacity increases relative to the case without information of reserve capacity. This significant potential economic benefit associated with bridge condition assessment in the operation phase of toll highways.</p>

Although modern bridge are carefully designed and well constructed, damage may occur in them due to unexpected causes. Currently, many different techniques have been proposed and investigated in bridge condition assessment. However, evaluation efficiency of condition assessment has not been paid much attention by the researchers. A fast evaluation of the urban railway bridge condition based on the cloud computing is presented. In this paper dynamic FE model and Artificial neural networks technique is applied to model updating. The cloud computing model provides the basis for fast analyses. It was found that when applied to the actually railway bridges, the proposed method provided results similar to those obtained by experts, but can improve efficiency of bridge

<p>In this contribution a practical and rational decision-making approach is presented to be applied for common bridges typically managed by public authorities. The authors have developed a model with the intention to be applicable for practical cases for common bridges in the daily work of bride operators responsible for a large number of assets, yet still maintain the principles of more generic frameworks based on probabilistic decision-theory.</p><p>Three main attributes of the verification of sufficiency of structural performance are considered, namely: 1) the level of sophistication of modelling performance, 2) the degree of verification and acceptance criteria in terms of dealing with uncertainties and consequences, 3) the extent of information is obtained and incorporated in the verification.</p><p>The simplicity of the approach is demonstrated through an illustrative case study inspired by practical condition assessment decision problems. It is argued that in practical cases it may be desirable to utilize less advanced methods owing to constraints in resources or lack of reliable data (e.g. based on structural health monitoring or other on-site measurement techniques).</p>

Evaluation of type and planting system at the median road of Ir. SoekarnoMedian strips the City of Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat. Planting plants in the median strip Ir. Soekarno was dominated by Trembesi trees (Samanea saman) with tree branches that grew beyond the median strip. It was quite dangerous for road users because the Trembesi trees can easily be fallen when exposed to strong winds. Despite its problems, the Trembesi tree had ecological potential benefits such as the highest oxygen-producing and pollutant-absorbing capacity. This study aims to determine and evaluate the types of plants in terms of the physical categories and functions of plants and spacing. This study was located in Ir. Soekarno Road, South Tanimbar District, Town of Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat Regency. The standard of assesment for median road plant used The Guidelines Regulation of Public Works Minister 2008. Survey method with quantitative descriptive approach was used was this study by taking four samples of the median road segment. The physical assessment results for the four samples varied, those were moderate, good, and very good. The assessment result of functions in each segment had been fulfilled the categories with good and very good criteria, howevere the function needs to be improved. The value of distance assessment for each segment varied, those were good and very good. In order to increase plant distance category, it was necessary to add plants in each segment.

Condition Assessment of assets is one of stages in assets management system that supports effective and efficient improvement and maintenance strategy. The objective of this paper is to develop a condition assessment model based on important components that build an asset. A building asset hierarchy is proposed in which four main categories that build spaces inside building is the principle element of evaluation. The Physical component in which selected as the variable of this research, based on Regulation of the Minister of Public Works of Indonesia no.24 in 2008 about building maintenance guidelines. Data are collected via questionnaires from experts to ranking and assign relative weights as model’s attribute using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques. Multi attribute utility theory (MAUT) is used to calculate entire building condition based on rank and relative weight of selected components. This research model is applied to a case study dormitory of Universitas Gadjah Mada, located in Yogyakarta. Result of the research is condition of the entire building based on components that build spaces inside that building. This result of this research will assist owners and facility managers in select effective and efficient improvement and maintenance strategy for the building.
