This study aims to analyze the effect of zakah revenues and job creation on poverty rates. Using a panel data set of 23 districts in Aceh for the period of 2011-2017, a fixed-effect method of the panel regression model and the Granger causality test was utilized to analyze the functional relationships between the three variables. The study found out that the zakah revenue and job creation have a negative and significant effect on poverty rates. However, the negative effect of job creation on poverty rates is greater than the negative effect of zakah revenues. The Granger causality test indicates that there is bidirectional causality between poverty rates and zakah revenues and between employment creation and poverty rates. Conversely, there is no causality between zakah revenues and job creations.

The focal point of this paper is focused on assessing the causal relationship between ODA and economic growth in the localities of Vietnam. This research uses panel data of ODA and GDP from 63 provinces of Vietnam by using Granger Causality test. The results showed that ODA has a causal effect on economic growth (GDP) and vice versa, economic growth decides to attract ODA in provinces in Vietnam. This result complements studies on the causal relationship between ODA and economic growth using new empirical evidence through case studies in the provinces of Vietnam.

RGDP is the total of all goods and services value which produced by all economics unit within a region. This study aims to determine the causality’s direction between government budget and RGDP, investment and RGDP, labor and RGDP, using panel data on RDU Jember and its regional area during 2000– 2014. The Granger causality test is used to identify the direction of the relationship between the variable between government budget and RGDP, investment and RGDP, labor and RGDP. The result of this study showed that there is a causal relationship between variables. Keywords: Granger causality, RGDP, government budget, investment, and labor

Workers’ remittances are assuming a significant function as a wellspring of foreign exchange earnings for developing countries. As a result, these countries inflows are growing rapidly. This study inspects the relationship between worker’s remittances and economic growth of Bangladesh using the data set for the period 2007-2018. The results using the Granger-causality test show that the workers’ remittances and economic growth show a bi-directional causal relation. There is a bi-directional causal relation between capital and economic growth. The relationship is negative when the study considers number of workers growth and economic growth. The used growth model shows that economic growth of Bangladesh is remittances-dependent. Hence, it provides evidence to support those remittances is a regulating issue of economic growth of Bangladesh.

This paper tests the existence and the direction of causality between fiscal decentralization and economic growth. The previous literature has implicitly assumed that decentralization causes economic growth, and has largely ignored the possibility that economic growth can cause fiscal decentralization as well. This paper applies the Granger-causality test to panel data from 21 countries between 1975 and 1995, and finds that fiscal decentralization does not cause economic growth, but that economic growth causes fiscal decentralization.

Abstract This paper has aimed to examine the causal relationships between energy consumption – economic growth, export – energy consumption and export – economic growth in Lithuania during the period of 1998 – 2015. Descriptive statistics analysis and econometric techniques have been applied for this purpose. Granger causality test has been used to a time series data set to determine the causality between variables. The results of Granger causality test have shown unidirectional causality running from GDP to energy consumption, from export to GDP and from export to energy consumption. It is obvious that GDP and export play significant roles in accelerating energy consumption in Lithuania. The determination of the causal links between energy consumption – economic growth, export – economic growth and energy consumption – export has provided policy makers with the main insights to formulate future policy directions for sustainable economic development in Lithuania.

Background: From a causal point of view, there exists a set of socioeconomic indicators concerning life expectancy. The objective of this paper is to determine the indicators which exhibit a relation of causality with life expectancy at birth. Methods: Our analysis applies the Granger causality test, more specifically its version by Dumitrescu–Hurlin, starting from the information concerning life expectancy at birth and a set of socioeconomic variables corresponding to 17 Spanish regions, throughout the period 2006–2016. To do this, we used the panel data involving the information provided by the Spanish Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare (MHCSW) and the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). Results: Per capita income, and the rate of hospital beds, medical staff and nurses Granger-cause the variable “life expectancy at birth”, according to the Granger causality test applied to panel data (Dumitrescu–Hurlin’s version). Conclusions: Life expectancy at birth has become one of the main indicators able to measure the performance of a country’s health system. This analysis facilitates the identification of those factors which exhibit a unidirectional Granger-causality relationship with life expectancy at birth. Therefore, this paper provides useful information for the management of public health resources from the point of view of the maximization of social benefits.
