Background: Spatial epidemiology is used to evaluate geographical variations and disparities in health outcomes; however, constructing geographic statistical models requires a labor-intensive process that limits the overall utility. We developed an open-source software for spatial epidemiological analysis and demonstrated its applicability and quality. Methods: Based on standardized geocode and observational health data, the Application of Epidemiological Geographic Information System (AEGIS) provides two spatial analysis methods: disease mapping and detecting clustered medical conditions and outcomes. The AEGIS assesses the geographical distribution of incidences and health outcomes in Korea and the United States, specifically incidence of cancers and their mortality rates, endemic malarial areas, and heart diseases (only the United States). Results: The AEGIS-generated spatial distribution of incident cancer in Korea was consistent with previous reports. The incidence of liver cancer in women with the highest Moran’s I (0.44; p < 0.001) was 17.4 (10.3–26.9). The malarial endemic cluster was identified in Paju-si, Korea (p < 0.001). When the AEGIS was applied to the database of the United States, a heart disease cluster was appropriately identified (p < 0.001). Conclusions: As an open-source, cross-country, spatial analytics solution, AEGIS may globally assess the differences in geographical distribution of health outcomes through the use of standardized geocode and observational health databases.

Abstract There is still lack of bruselosis in beef cattle in Barru District, South Sulawesi. The aim of this study was to analyze data about the temporary distribution of disease by measuring spreading speed, and spatial distribution by mapping risk areas for bruselosis over the past three years. The data of this study was collected using the records from Dinas Peternakan and conducting interviews using structured questionnaires. This research was a descriptive study by measuring the incidence rate and describing the risk map using geographic information system (GIS). The results of this study indicate that, based on the incidence rate, the average of distribution rate of bruselosis in beef cattle in Barru is 5 cases per 10 000 heads/year. This incidence rate always decreases every year. There was no sub-district that classified as high risk. There was one area that classified as medium risk namely sub-district of Mallusetasi. Control measure that have been carried out by goverment were successful to reduce the spread of disease. Keywords: Beef cattle; Bruselosis; Incidence rate; Occurrence; Risk.   Abstrak Informasi mengenai penyebaran kejadian penyakit pada sapi potong di Kabupaten Barru Sulawesi selatan masih kurang. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis data distribusi kejadian penyakit secara temporal dengan mengukur kecapatan penyebaran, dan secara spasial dengan memetakan wilayah berisiko bruselosis selama tiga tahun terakhir. Data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan rekapan dari Dinas Peternakan dan wawancara mendalam menggunakan kuesioner terstruktur. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode deskriptif dengan mengukur incidence rate dan menggambarkan peta risiko menggunakan geographic information system. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa berdasarkan incidence rate, kecepatan rata-rata penyebaran bruselosis pada sapi potong di Kabupaten Barru sebesar 5 kasus per 10 000 ekor/tahun. Nilai incidence rate tersebut selalu menurun setiap tahunnya. Kejadian penyakit paling tinggi terjadi di Kecamatan Mallusetasi dengan incidence rate sebesar 35 kasus per 10 000 ekor/tahun. Terdapat satu wilayah yang tergolong ke dalam risiko sedang, yaitu Kecamatan Mallusetasi. Tindakan pengendalian yang telah dilakukan oleh pemerintah setempat dikatakan berhasil dalam menekan tingkat kejadian penyakit. Abstract: Geographic Information System of Diarrhea in Children in the Area of Puskemas Kota Banjarbaru. Incidence of diarrhea was always found every year in Banjarbaru. Incidence rate of diarrhea in Banjarbaru in 2009 to 2012 are respectively 20.98, 19.86, and 16.39. The presentation of data on the incidence of diarrhea mainly done using tables and graphs. The aim of the study was to describe the incidence of diarrhea in children aged less than 5 years in the area of Puskemas Kota Banjarbaru using geographic information system. This research is a descriptive study. Four of the eight health centers in Banjarbaru was chosen as samples. All children aged less than 5 years old who suffered from diarrhea in the four regions had been recorded. Furthermore, measurements of the coordinates of the house where there is a child aged less than 5 years of the living was done. Based on data from the coordinates, thematic maps of the incidence of diarrhea was made. The results showed that during the months of January to June 2013, the incidence of diarrhea is solid in the areas of Puskesmas Banjarbaru and Puskesmas Sungai Besar, is width in the Puskesmas Sungai Ulin, and is solid and long in the area of Puskesmas Cempaka. The results showed that during the months of January to June 2013, the incidence of diarrhea is solid in the areas of Puskesmas Banjarbaru and Puskesmas Sungai Besar, is width in the Puskesmas Sungai Ulin, and is solid and long in the area of Puskesmas Cempaka. It is recommended that a follow-up is done in order to prevent or reduce the incidence of diarrhea through concrete and effective interventions.Keywords  :   Diarrhea; GIS; Banjarbaru

Terdapat 2 wilayah yang tergolong ke dalam risiko tinggi, yaitu Kecamatan Mallusetasi dan Kecamatan Tanete Riaja. <p>Erupsi Gunungapi Merapi tahun 2010 mengakibatkan banyak korban jiwa, kerusakan aset dan kerugian di berbagai bidang. Untuk meminimalkan korban jiwa, kerusakan dan kerugian, diperlukan upaya pengurangan risiko bencana (PRB). Salah satu upaya yang dilakukan adalah program desa bersaudara (<em>sister village</em>) yang digagas oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Magelang melalui Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD). Program desa bersaudara ini bertujuan agar ada kepastian tempat pengungsian, mengurangi kesemrawutan proses pengungsian serta memudahkan pelayanan pengungsi. Program ini dapat memanfaatan Sistem Informasi Geografis/<em>Geographic Information System</em> (GIS) yang berbasis web (<em>WebGIS</em>). <em>WebGIS</em> mampu mendiseminasikan peta yang dihasilkan dalam program desa bersaudara, misalnya peta jalur evakuasi. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mendiskripsikan pemanfataan <em>WebGIS</em> dalam mendukung program desa bersaudara, dengan mengambil kasus di Desa Ngargomulyo (desa rawan bencana) dan Desa Tamanagung (desa penyangga/ penerima pengungsi). Metodenya adalah memaparkan proses pemetaan jalur evakuasi. Proses penyusunan peta tersebut terbagi empat tahap:   survei lapangan, penyiapan data spasial, coding dan publikasi. Hasilnya adalah tampilan peta jalur evakuasi yang bisa diakses oleh siapapun tanpa menggunakan aplikasi GIS yang memudahkan masyarakat pengungsi, penerima pengungsi, pemerintah maupun parapihak, mengetahui asal pengungsi, jalur evakuasi dan titik pengungsian. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pemetaan <em>WebGIS</em> dapat mendukung upaya PRB dengan keunggulan bisa dijangkau pengguna secara sangat luas.<strong></strong></p><p><strong>Kata kunci</strong>: desa bersaudara, <em>sister village</em>, pemetaan jalur evakuasi, <em>gis</em>, <em>webgis</em></p>
