A conceptual model of corporate project management standards development and implementation is proposed. Within this model the boundary conditions for created system and, respectively, for the standard are defined: functional framework of the standard and project management system are defined; key roles in organization project management processes are established; key processes and functions on organization project management are formulated. Besides, the project phases on development and deployment of project management corporate methodology are offered in this paper.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to highlight the application of Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) to analyze the barriers in implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). TPM is explained in brief with emphasis on maintenance programs to improve quality of products, reliability of processes and reduction in cost. Barriers in implementation of TPM are also discussed. Concept of ISM and steps in developing ISM are described in detail. The authors then illustrate the research methodology which involves applying ISM to analyze barriers in TPM. Design/methodology/approach – The paper starts off by describing the concepts of TPM and ISM. Barriers in implementation of TPM are discussed. It explains ISM as a methodology to understand the underlying interrelationship among the inhibiting factors. The authors draw up an action plan to carry out research on the usage of ISM to study the TPM inhibitors, to develop an integrated model to establish the relationship among the different TPM inhibiting factors and to suggest action plan to mitigate these factors. Findings – Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) can be used to analyze the driving and dependence power of the variables inhibiting implementation of TPM. The barriers to implement TPM are described with detailed explanation. The complexity of the problem and the degree of interconnection among the variables can be found out. This will help Managers take action on mitigating the barriers. Practical implications – By analyzing the interrelationships among the barriers and their strengths, management can chalk out the strategy to implement TPM in an organization. Management will become aware of the barriers which have the maximum influence and then can act accordingly to mitigate these barriers. This will help in implementing TPM faster and in an organized manner. Originality/value – Many authors have used ISM to study various issues. A couple of authors have used ISM to determine barriers in implementation of TPM. The authors feel that most of the papers describe ISM in brief making it slightly difficult for readers to understand. This paper aims to explain elaborately step-by-step on how to develop an ISM making it easier for researchers to understand the ISM concept. Even though there are papers on TPM and difficulties in implementation of TPM, this paper explains the barriers in implementing TPM based on the experience of the corresponding author having worked in the refinery industry.

Strategic leadership and management have been widely studied through the lenses of economics, business models, theories of work, and the like. This chapter offers a unique view of strategic leadership and management through the examination of two collections of imperatives: “Leadership Under Fire” written by a retired U.S. Army Major and “Live With Intention” written by a businesswoman and author whose published work has been read by millions. We make the case that effective leadership and management is a function of the relationship with one's self, one's work as well as with a myriad of stakeholders. The unique lens of this chapter provides a means to consider “outside the box” approaches to fueling bottom-line results, sustainability, and global impact through strategic leadership and management.

Research has led to greater understanding of what is needed to create and sustain well-functioning public health partnerships. However, a partnership’s ability to foster an environment that encourages broad member involvement in discussions, decision making, and activities has received scant empirical attention. This study examined the relationship between partnership members’ perceptions of how well leadership and management facilitated their involvement, and their satisfaction with their role and influence within the partnership. Data came from 60 individuals who participated in two waves of a quantitative process evaluation of six southern interorganizational partnerships, formed as part of a national pilot project to increase cervical and breast cancer screening rates. Results suggested that environments fostering broad partner involvement were associated with measures of member satisfaction, controlling for other partnership characteristics. Findings indicated that facilitation of member involvement deserves increased consideration from researchers and practitioners as an indicator of the quality of partnership functioning.

Purpose: The aim of the paper is to identify the relationship between accounting science and management sciences in the light of the formal separation of disciplines in the field of social sciences in Poland, and to indicate the consequences of this separation for the devel-opment of economic sciences, which, regardless of legal regulations, also include accounting. Methodology/approach: The considerations in the article are presented against the views presented in the literature by selected authors and the position of the scientific community on the research interests of the discipline of management and quality sciences. The article uses the method of critical analysis and synthesis of opinions of other authors as well as deductive reasoning. Findings: Accounting, as one integrated system of economic measurement – regardless of legal regulations in the field of science classification – is an integral part of organization management, which means that it should constitute a sub-discipline of management and quality sciences. Research limitations/implications: Qualifying the scientific achievements of accounting researchers in Poland to the disciplines distinguished within the social sciences may have a significant impact on the results of the evaluation of science for 2017-2021. Originality/value: The article proposes solutions for the classification of social science disciplines (including accounting) based on formally combining, not isolating them, which favors the development of an interdisciplinary approach to scientific research

International research has shown that the quality of school leadership and management (SLM) is important for teaching and learning, particularly in schools where there is acute resource deprivation. This article explores the relationship between leadership and academic achievement in South African secondary schools with varying socio-economic conditions. The study is based on data from 12,154 South African Grade 9 learners, 334 mathematics teachers and 292 principals who participated in the 2015 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). Using indicators that represent different aspects of school leadership, this article examines whether the type of leadership and management practices depend on the school setting and whether better school leadership and management supports academic achievement. The analysis revealed distinct relationships between school leadership and management and academic achievement based on the socio-economic status of learner bodies. Potential policy responses are discussed.
