The study presented here was conducted on post-stroke patients in the years 2014–2017. Data was collected using a survey questionnaire based on single-choice questions, Barthel ADL Index and the modified Rankin Scale (mRS). As many as 128 out of 135 respondents (94.8%) were referred for further treatment after initial rehabilitation. Of these, 33.6% did not continue their rehabilitation. Most of the remaining ones chose outpatient (32.9%) or inpatient rehabilitation in a hospital (29.4%). After the second examination of the physical condition of the patients, improvement was noted in those who participated in long-term rehabilitation. This feeling was also declared by the patients themselves. Out of all respondents, 92 people suffered from speech disorders, of which only 21.7% participated in speech therapy, and in this group 90% noticed a significant improvement in verbal communication. A small percentage of patients with aphasia recognize and follow speech therapy recommendations. Patients and their carers should be informed in more detail about the benefits of rehabilitation and speech therapy.

The article presents the results of the study, which relates to the efficacy of speech therapy means and methods for the development of speech and non-verbal communication processes for children with autism. A number of researchers' observations show that the range of contact between children with autism is very limited. Mostly these children feel calm and they are relatively manageable only among their extremely close people. The difficulty of selective and original communication contributes to the more isolation of children with autism. The communication difficulties described in the context of not performing early diagnostics work start to be strengthened and deeply rooted in the mental processes of these children. The inability to communicate and the active rejection of any communication contributes to relapsing behaviors whenever there is an attempt to draw any attention and the requirement for a directive ends with a fight. Based on the multi-year pedagogical activity in this field, the author presents experimental studies with autistic children. Taking into account the individual features of each child during the two-year training, we have created different play situations to try to make an interest and expand the range of contacts. Initially, we tried to create about 5-10 similar situations during one speech therapy session, and later, when appropriate skill is well-formed, we try to strengthen it in other situations or in the presence of other strangers.

Introduction:Non hemorrhagic stroke is an attack on brain tissues that occurs suddenly and could cause paralysis or permanent disability in any part of the body. Health issues that arise due to the stroke are vary widely. If the stroke occurs in the left side of the brain it will affect the speech, the patient will experience speech disorders. One way to restore speech ability could be implemented by using verbal communication therapy by mentioning vowels. Objective:The study aimed to determine the application of nursing care to the patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke who experienced speech disorders and which can be done by implementing speech therapy vowels on communication ability of patients with non-hemorrhagic stroke. The method used descriptive case study. The subject of the study was conducted on 2 patients with the same case who experienced speech disorders. Results:The results showed that non hemorrhagic stroke was associated with impaired verbal communication. The intervention and implementation were performed by analyzing the general condition of the patients, distinguishing between aphasia and dysarthria, speakingdirectly to the patient slowly and calmly, communicating in normal tone and avoiding fast conversation, asking to follow simple command, and pronounce the vowels such. Conclusion:The evaluation carried out for 3 days and found that the patient could pronounce the vowels but its still unclear.

Twenty-four moderately asphasic stroke patients attending a rehabilitation centre were treated for 4 weeks with speech therapy and for 4 weeks with either an operant training procedure, based on that devised by Goodkin (1966), or an attention placebo non-specific treatment. Speech therapy was given first to half the patients, while a quarter received operant training first and a quarter non-specific treatment. Results indicated no significant differences between the treatments. These treated patients were also compared in improvements in language abilities with nine moderately aphasic patients from hospitals with very limited speech therapy services. No significant differences between “treated” and “untreated” groups were found over a 4-week period. All groups of patients, however, showed some significant improvements in language abilities.

Context: Early initiation of rehabilitation procedures in stroke patients can enable greater return of neurological functions and prevents complication, thereby improves long term outcome and quality of life. Functional Independence measure (FIM) score is one of the commonest scale used to measure outcome. Study design: Prospective type of study. Place of study: Dept. of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, BSMMU. Method: 48 acute onset first episode stroke patients were assessed Rehabilitation procedures started immediately after attending the Dept. According to a comprehensive rehabilitation plan physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy was given and continued for 8 weeks, with proper education to the patient and the attendant. Result: Outcome was measured and the result showed significant improvements (p value <0.001) in early treatment group of patients. Key words: Stroke, FIM, Outcome.   doi: 10.3329/bja.v7i1.3028 Bangladesh Journal of Anatomy January 2009, Vol. 7 No. 1 pp. 62-67
