This article reports the findings of a scoping review of the use of small-sided games (SSGs) as a teaching or coaching pedagogy across four game categories. The selection criteria included empirical research available online, published after January 1 2006 and prior to December 31, 2016, in an academic journal. The data were analysed through an inductive thematic approach which generated two themes: Development and Practical considerations. This review found that SSGs can be used as a deliberate pedagogy to elicit physiological responses for a training effect. Given that the variables associated with SSGs include pitch size, game intensity, and number of players, a key determining factor in the implementation of SSGs includes the objective of the practice activity.

Workplace spirituality or spirituality in the workplace is about employees search for meaning, purpose, and interconnectedness in the workplace. Similarly, transformational leadership is a leadership style that encourages a higher level of moral maturity and performance standard for followers. In this chapter, through a review of literature and propositional analysis, the authors demonstrate that transformational leadership has the capacity to drive employees towards meaning, purpose, and interconnectedness with the organization's goals and values. Researchers agree that transformational leadership inspires, motivates, and also attempts to connect with followers. Thus, while workplace spirituality is a potent ingredient in the modern workplace, transformational leadership is the driving force that actually transforms the workplace. Thus, the authors conclude by proposing that transformational leadership can potentially encourage and sustain workplace spirituality. Suggestions and recommendations for future empirical research are provided.

Three Stages

<p>The industry of service has been progressing rapidly in recent years. In face of the financial crisis, innovation is becoming one of the most important factors along with the development of service innovation. It is important to fully consider characteristics both from theoretical and empirical perspective when identifying service innovation. This article conducts a systematic review of literature on research process of service innovation. In this paper, the research status on concept and typology of service innovation are demonstrated and classified in the second and third section, and three stages are discussed in the following, In addition, the development process is highlighted from four aspects: The customer, new service development and new product development, theoretical and empirical. At last, a recommended list of measures is provided for future theoretical study and empirical research. </p>

Researchers and practitioners use a wide range of terms when they discuss community involvement with information and communications technologies (ICTs). Common (English-language) terms include ‘community networks,’ ‘community computing,’ ‘community information networks,’ ‘civic networking,’ ‘community technology,’ ‘community computer networks,’ ‘online neighborhood network,’ ‘virtual community,’ ‘online community,’ ‘community e-business,’ and most recently, ‘community informatics.’ Since the late 1990s, the term ‘community informatics’ has come into use amongst many academic researchers as an overarching label for the academic study of projects and initiatives which deliberately engage community groups and organizations with ICTs. Evidence of the term’s acceptance in academic and research circles is found in the titles of at least one academic journal and the language of its articles (the Journal of Community Informatics), as well as in community informatics conferences and workshops held in a number of countries, university research centres, moves towards an ethics statement, and an entry in Wikipedia developed collaboratively by researchers and practitioners in the field. While many still use the term ‘community technology’ or its variants when referring to practice activity, community informatics has definitely become embedded as an academic reference point.

Background. Policy has direct bearing on occupational therapy practice and is a key dimension of the environment. To date, there has not been a synthesis of how policy is addressed in the occupational therapy literature. Purpose. The purpose of this review is to identify and analyze the ways that policy is addressed in the occupational therapy literature. Method. We conducted a scoping review of literature on policy and occupational therapy. Articles were analyzed deductively using a policy framework and inductively to identify overarching themes. Findings. Sixty-four papers were included for analysis. We present the descriptive information of the included articles according to policy type, sphere of action, stage of policy development, level, and actors. The qualitative analysis uncovered two broad concepts: “awareness” about the relationship between policy and practice and messages pertaining to “action.” Implications. There are numerous areas for further research into the policy–occupational therapy nexus, as policy has numerous pathways to shape practice. Practitioners will benefit from better understanding these pathways and actively engaging to align policy with the values of the profession.
