The research is aimed to find out the speech act classification and types of request strategy from a dialogue of the characters in Tall Girl movie. The method of this study is descriptive qualitative analysis. Data is taken out of all dialogues of the characters and is observed by using theories. In this analysis, the writers found the speech Act Classification and Types of Request Strategy in the Speech Act. The speech act is classified in declaration, representatives, directives, commissives, and expressive. Directives served the dominant form among the five types of illocutionary act mostly expressed their utterance. And as request strategy is typed in mood derivable, explicit performative, hedged performative, locution derivable, want statement, suggestive formula and preparatory. Mood derivable served the dominant form among the other types to deliver their willingness.

This goal of this study is to describe the types of directive illocutionary act and to find out the most dominant directives speech act performed by the characters in The Complex: Lockdown movie through the theory of Speech Act by Kreidler (1998) and supported by the theory from Searle (1979). In analyzing the data, descriptive qualitative method is used. This study found 73 data of directive illocutionary act performed by the characters in the movie. In addition, it was found the most dominant directives used is command with 27 (37%) occurences followed by question with 23 (32%) occurences. Both types of directive is the most commonly used because the characters are forced to do a certain task quickly with a limited time to think. That causes they gave command to other and asked question frequently during the emergency situation after several bio-weapon attacks. The least dominant types of directive speech act are found  namely; request with 16 (22%) occurences and followed by suggestion with 7 (9%) occurences.

This research deals with the types of illocutionary acts in Donald Trump’s Inaugural Speech. The research concerns with illocutionary act produced by Donald Trumps as a President of American. The aim of this research was to analyze the types of illocutionary speech act which was dominantly used in that speech. This research applied descriptive qualitative method and speech act theory by Yule. There were 63 utterances and the percentage of utterances were Representative 46%, Expressive 11%, Directive 16%, Commissive 12,7%, and Declarative 14,3%. The result showed that Donald Trump assert to the audience about the nation will be.It is found that Trump’s speech acts in his speech are intended as statement of fact and assertion. Disscussion of hopes implied in Trump’s speech acts. As seen on the table above, it can be seen that Trump hoped that his audiences would be persuaded to act

The objectives of this study are to describe the types of speech acts used in Jokowi’s campaign speeches, to elaborate the realization of Jokowi used illocutionary act in campaign speeches, to know the reason of using illocutionary act. This study was conducted by descriptive qualitative research. The data of the research are the utterances of Jokowi’s speeches. The source of the data was Jokowi’s campaign speeches. The technique for collecting data is documentary technique. The technique of data analysis was interactive model by using Miles and Huberman. The findings show all types of speech acts were used in Jokowi’s campaign speeches, namely:  locutionary act, illocutionary act can be classified into five parts; there were assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, declarative and the last types was perlocutionary act. The realization of illocutionary act used in Jokowi’s campaign speeches, the directive speech act was used in form of warning, commanding, promising, offering, questioning, requesting. The reasons of using illocutionary act in Jokowi’s campaign speeches are to point out or to identify what the speaker mean from his utterance, which influence of meaning and information of the speech and to get information clearly from Jokowi’s campaign speeches.   Keywords: speech acts, campaign, campaign speeches

In this study, the researchers aim at describing illocutionary acts and the most frequently found in Anies Baswedan’s speech dealing with Covid-19. The researchers used a descriptive qualitative method to choose the data. The researcher tends to analyze the data using the pragmatic theory specifically a speech act proposed by Searle (1979) delivered by Anies Baswedan. Illocutionary acts can be divided into 5 types, there are representative, declarative, directive, commissive, expressive. Then, the researchers obtained the data from Anies in Mayoral Meeting Cities Against Covid-19 Global Summit 2020 with the clauses as the data analysis. The result shows that there are 102 data found in the video. Then, the dominant number found is representative with the total number 55 (53,9%), then followed by declarative 22 (21,6%), directive 12 (11,8%), expressive 8 (7,8%), and commissive 5 (4,9%). Then, representative one is dominant since the data tends to deliver the message by reporting, stating, describing a phenomenon, Covid-19 as the issue that must be solved. It is concluded that this study is in the line with the theories and the previous studies dealing with the illocutionary act. On the contrary, there is a previous study that contrasts with this study.

This research deals with the using of speech acts in Indonesia Lawyers Club (ILC): KPK vs Novanto: Berpacu dengan Waktu. The objectives of this research were: (1) to investigate the types of speech acts used by Karni Ilyas in ILC “KPK vs Novanto: Berpacu dengan Waktu”, (2) to describe the way of performing speech acts realized by Karni Ilyas, and (3) to explain the reasons why those types of speech acts are realized by Karni Ilyas. The research applied descriptive qualitative method. The source of data in this research was taken from Indonesia Lawyers Club (ILC) “KPK vs Novanto: Berpacu dengan Waktu” video. The instrument used for collecting the data was the observation by recorded the utterances of Karni from seven parts of videos. The data were clauses contained of Speech Acts used by Karni. The findings of this study showed that: 1) There were three types of speech acts, namely locutionary act, illocutinary act and perlocutionary act that utilized by Karni Ilyas in his utterances when discussion with all the guests in Indonesia Lawyers Club (ILC) “KPK vs Novanto: Berpacu dengan Waktu”. The dominant types of speech act was illocutionary act and the dominant classification was directive. 2) There were two ways in performing speech act used by Karni, namely direct and indirect speech. Direct speech was more dominant than indirect speech. 3) There were four reasons why Karni using speech act, namely to actuate, to entertain, to stimulate, and to inform. Abstract  This research was to investigate speech acts of Borish Jonshon’s speech concern in the illocutionary act and the use of speech act analysis by Hymes (2014). The speech was held in Prime Minister’s office and Borish Johnson has used a national TV address at 8.30 p.m. The data of this research taken from the script and speech video of the U.K. Prime Minister named Borish Johnson on 23 March 2020 which talked about Covid-19. The research applied descriptive qualitative as a method and hold in Yule’s speech act theory. Based on the analysis, the researcher was found and analyze 222 utterances. Those are consist of, 36% representative, 33% declarative, 16% directive, 9% expressive, and 6% commissive. As the result was representative is the highest use of the illocutionary aspect found in this research. It can be seen that Borish Johnson hoped that his audiences would follow what he said to reduce the coronavirus disease - 19. Keywords:        Pragmatics, Speech Act, Covid-19

This study entitled Illocutionary Acts in the Movie “Capture the Flag” is aimed to explain the type and function of illocutionary acts found in the movie and to analyze the context of situation which determines the illocutionary act of the utterance in the movie. The data were taken from the utterances in the movie entitled “Capture The Flag” and it was explained in descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by watching the movie and reading the movie script, then by noting down the utterances which belong to illocutionary acts. Then, the data were classified into types of illocutionary acts and their function. Afterwards, the context of situation which determines the illocutionary act of the utterances were defined. There were two theories used in conducting this study. The first theory was proposed by Searle (1976) and supported by Yule about the types of illocutionary acts. The theory was used to analyze the types of illocutionary acts and its function. The other theory usedwas proposed by Holmes (2013) about the context of situation. This theory was applied to explain the intended meaning of the utterances. There were five types of illocutionary acts found in the movie, namely Representatives, Directives, Commisives, Expressives, and Declaratives. The functions of each type were boasting, concluding,claiming, affirming, informing, commanding, warning, suggesting, inviting, threatening, offering, apologizing, thanking, blaming and declaring.

This study discusses speech act of bamamai (nagging) in Banjar language. Bamamai is an expressive speech act. Bamamai usually involves the speaker's emotion toward the speech partner when the speech is not in accordance with what the speaker wants. This research aims to describe bamamai speech acts based on Leech’s politeness scale. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collected are descriptive, taken from the speakers’ conversations in Banjar language’s oral variety. The theory used in this research is the politeness scale by Leech, namely (1) cost and benefit scale, (2) optionality scale, (3) indirectness scale, (4) authority scale and (5) distance scale. The research shows that there are polite speeches in the bamamai (nagging) speech act because they are in accordance with Leech’s politeness scale, namely the indirectness, authority and optionality scale. On the other hand, there are impolite speeches in bamamai (nagging) speech act because they are not in accordance with the indirectness scale and social distance scale. AbstrakPenelitian ini membahas mengenai tindak tutur bamamai (mengomel) dalam bahasa Banjar. Bamamai termasuk tindak tutur ekspresif. Bamamai biasanya melibatkan emosi penutur kepada mitra tutur ketika tuturan mitra tutur tidak sesuai dengan yang diinginkan oleh penutur. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan tindak tutur bamamai berdasarkan skala kesantunan Leech.  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskripsif kualitatif. Data yang dikumpulkan berbentuk deskriptif percakapan penutur berbahasa Banjar dalam ragam lisan. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini skala kesantunan yang dikemukakan oleh Leech, yaitu (1) skala kerugian dan keuntungan, (2) skala pilihan, (3) skala ketidaklangsungan, (4) skala keotoritasan, dan (5) skala jarak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam tindak tutur bamamai terdapat tuturan yang santun karena sesuai dengan skala kesantunan yang dikemukakan oleh Leech, yaitu skala ketidaklangsungan, keotoritasan, dan pilihan. Sebaliknya, dalam tindak tutur bamamai terdapat tuturan yang tidak santun karena tidak sesuai dengan skala ketidaklangsungan dan skala jarak sosial.

The aim of this analysis is to know and understand the criteria, causes, influence, characters and moral messages of Kevin in Analysis on Antisocial Personality Disorder of Kevin in “We Need to talk about Kevin Movie Directed by Lynne Ramsay”. This method uses descriptive qualitative analysis. The analytical results obtained are: (1) Criteria of antisocial personality disorder of Kevin namely among the other things deceitfulness, irritability, aggressiveness, reckless, disregard for safety of his own self or for others and lack of remorse. (2) The causes of antisocial personality disorder on Kevin is less responsive (genetic) and neglect of family on Kevin (Environment). (3) Kevin’s behaviour influencing the others is posing of a threat and (4) Moral message that people should anticipate with antisocial personality disorder is that people should not hurt the person and should communicate with him very well. As a result, Kevin has the characters of aggressiveness, easily lying and can injure others without feeling any guilt.

This research attempts to figure out the speech act of President of The Republic of The Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, particularly in identifying types of the Illocutionary act and Perlocutionary act in SONA Forum. The researcher is keen to explore duterte’s speech because Duterte is notorious for his unfavorable remarks. Therefore, by investigating his speech through the analysis of his speech act in the selected speech, the researcher will prove whether the speech contains the perlocutionary acts of insulting or not. This research also focuses on utilizing Searle’s theory on Illocutionary acts exemplifies 5 different types of illocutionary acts namely Assertive which is divided into stating, suggesting, boasting, complaining and claiming. Another type is Directives which comprises of ordering, commanding, requesting, advising and recommending. Expressive type comprises thanking, congratulating, pardoning, blaming, praising, and condoling. Commisive type includes promising, vowing, and offering. The last type is Declaration. The researchers use descriptive qualitative method by doing transcription of the speech and meticulously analyze every word.
