The diet of some populations of Lissotriton montandoni from north-western Romania is composed of prey belonging to 20 categories. The food components of the Carpathian newts are similar to those of other species of newts. Most of the prey are aquatic animals, but terrestrial prey also has a high percentage abundance. The consumed prey categories are common in the newts' habitats as well, but in natural ponds the prey item with the highest abundance in the diet is not the most frequent one in the habitat. Thus, although the Carpathian newts are basically opportunistic predators, they still display a certain trophic selectivity.

The rationale of this paper would be extracted from the fact that a regional policy, in the full European patterned comprehensive sense, was never thoroughly pursued in Romania since joining EU in 2007. Our research try to evaluate if there are any preliminary historical assets in order to ease the process of modern regionalization and further on to investigate the policies that were officially implemented in order to comply with the overall EU territorial developmental framework. Last but not least we investigate the ad-hoc approaches of several of the local public administrators in the country, innovative approaches conceived in order to mend the evident lack of consistency of governmental public policies in this area. Within this respect our endeavor is to benchmark the overall progress of the country towards genuine regional development to some recently taken steps by some local administrative bodies, steps that already proved to be lucrative for a few counties in North-Western Romania.

Abstract The main objective of this study is geared toward how the public understands the nature and the environment, and relates to them. The research universe is represented by the inhabitants of the plain step in the northern half of Crisana Province (north-western Romania). It started from the idea that social representations generate attitudinal and behavioral patterns and the way in which people interact with the environment and nature has a significant influence on quality of life and social development. Therefore, the social representations about the environment and nature have direct effects on our future and can be oriented towards the active participation to the efforts to protect the environment and the nature in general. There were 671 residents of 34 villages questioned and their answers have set a certain socio-geographical pattern on the specifics of life environment belonging to plain. The life environment was perceived by us as a way of reporting to the nature and the environment. The rural respondents from the plain come up with the most common answers, even identical in content, drawing the nature and the environment as ambience, as the space around them.

The paper is based on the researches carried out during 1976-2010 in the long term trial placed on the prelvosoil from Agricultural Research and Development Station Oradea. The main field crops of the area (wheat, maize, sunflower, soybean, bean, potato, sugarbeet, alfalfa) were studied. Based on the soil moisture determination ten to ten days, the soil water reserve was maintained between easily available water content and field capacity on the watering depth. Pedological and strong pedological drought (the decrease of the soil water reserve on watering depth bellow easily available water content, bellow wilting point respectivelly) were registered every year. The use of the irrigation determined the improve of the water/temperature+light (Domuta climate index) report, the increase of the daily and total water consumption, yield gains very significant statistically, the improve of the yields stability and yields quality, the increase of the water use efficiency. The use of the good soil management didn’t worsen the soil structure and the chemical  and biological parameters of the soil were improved. The researches sustain the irrigation opportunity for sustainable agriculture in the North-Western Romania.
