To moss flora of south-west part of Buryatia (East Sayan)

In results of the study of the moss collection gathered by the authors in southwestern part of Buryatia (East Sayan Mts) in summer 2008 the annotated list is provided. The list includes 178 species and 1 variety. In this collection 21 species are new for the moss flora of Buryatia, 14 of them were published (Tubanova et al., 2008; Tubanova et al., 2009; Afonina, 2009) and 7 species are reported for the first time — Brachythecium boreale, B. capillaceum, Bryum calophyllum, B. elegans, B. lonchocaulon, Philonotis falcata, Schistidium boreale.

We studied in detail a moss-lichen component of Shokalsky Island vegetation for the first time and identified 79 species of mosses and 54 species and 2 subspecies of lichens and lichenicolous fungi. All species of mosses and 23 species and 2 subspecies of lichens and lichenicolous fungi are recorded for the first time for the island. The study is based on collections made in South West part of the island, in arctic tundra. We also explored the participation of the mosses and lichens in the main types of plant communities and the species distribution in 10 ecotopes. The paper describes the noteworthy findings (Abrothallus parmeliarum, Aongstroemia longipes, Arthonia peltigerea, Caloplaca caesiorufella, Catillaria stereocaulorum, Ceratodon heterophyllus, Lecanora leptacinella, Sphagnum concinnum, S. olafii) and features of bryo- and lichenoflora of Shokalsky Island.

An annotated list of new records of 45 weevil species is provided. Hadroplontus litura, Larinus iaceae, Magdalis exarata, Pissodes validirostris, Stereocorynes truncorum, Platystomos albinus, Nanophyes globiformis, Ceutorhynchus dubius, and Dorytomus suratus are registered in Ukrainian Polesia for the first time. 34 species are recorded in the west part of Volynian Polesia (= Volyn Region) for the first time. Total known richness of weevils in Volyn Region is increased by 9%. Currently, the list of Curculionoideae inhabiting Volyn Region includes 386 species and subspecies. Additional data on 11 species rare in Ukraine are given. The west range limit of Asproparthenis foveocollis is extended to Volyn Polesia. Discovery of Asproparthenis vexata in Volyn Polesia confirms coexistence of specific insect assemblages associated with endemic psammophilous flora. An alien Lygniodes bischoffi entered into Ukrainian Polesia presumably from Poland. The hornbeam, Carpinus betulus was detected as a new host plant of Cossonus cylindricus for the first time.

The paper provides the results of seven-year study of downy mildew on Skadovsky Zvenigorod Biological Station of Moscow State University (ZBS MSU, Moscow Region). A total of 29 species of Peronosporales (Oomycota) were revealed during the study. An annotated list of species is presented, among them Peronospora anemones is recorded for the first time for Russia, P. chelidonii and P. stachydis are new for the European part of Russia, 8 species are new for the Moscow Region.

The annotated list of hepatics of the Sochi National Park includes 80 taxa. It is based on literature records and identification of 250 specimens collected by the authors. Scapania obcordata (Berggr.) S. W. Arnell and Calypogeia fissa (L.) Raddi var. intermedia (C. E. O. Jensen) Jorg. are new for the Caucasus, 17 taxa are new for Krasnodar Territory, 41 hepatics are reported for the first time for the park. New localities of 3 red-listed European species and of 6 species included in the Red Data Book of Krasnodar Territory are cited, indicating significant conservation value of the reserve.

An annotated list of hepatics of Monche-tundra Mts. was compiled for the first time. It includes 123 species and 8 varieties. Lophoziopsis excisa var. elegans is reported as new for the Murmansk Region, Lejeunea cavifolia was recorded secondly for the region, and Scapania tundrae is new for Lapland State Nature Reserve. There are 18 species listed in the Red Data Book of Murmansk Region.

Taxonomy of some Central, Middle and South West Asian representatives of Lepidium s. l. is revised and updated. Poorly known taxon, L. rubtzovii, is shown to be unrelated to L. coronopifolium s. l., but close to L. lacerum. Three new combinations (L. lacerum subsp. rubtzovii, L. leventii, and L. macrocarpum) are proposed. The names L. deserti, L. persicum subsp. arianum and L. seravschanicum, and Stroganowia kazachstanica are newly recognized as synonyms of L. obtusum, L. ferganense, and L. cardiophyllum, respectively. For L. ferganense and L. macrocarpum, lectotypes are designated. Besides, L. lacerum subsp. rubtzovii is reported for the first time for China (instead of subsp. lacerum), L. leventii for Iran, L. macrocarpum for Tajikistan, and L. obtusum for Afghanistan. In contrast, occurrence of L. lacerum in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan is considered doubtful.

Marx met the then 22 years old Blind) for the first time in May 1848, when he and Engels made their appearance in the revolutionary state of Baden (Germany), after the Neue Rheinische Zeitung had been suspended. At that time they declared to the members of the republican committee at Karlsruhe (Landesa usschuss), that they considered the revolt in the South-West of Germany irretrievably doomed to failure, if no decisive moves in Hungary or another revolution in Paris should come to its rescue. The only members of the committee who supported this opinion were, as stated by Engels), Karl Blind and Amand Gögg. Soon afterwards Marx and Blind met again in Paris. On September 5 Marx gave Blind's address to Freiligrath as his own. Blind had been sent to France by the revolutionary governments of Baden and the Palatinate as one of the members of the legation, which these two shortlived republics intended to establish there. But Louis Napoleon's government ignored this legation, and consequently did not respect Blind's diplomatic immunity, when the latter, soon after his arrival, proved to be involved in the abortive coup of Ledru-Rollin of June 13. Blind was placed under arrest and expelled from France on the same day, on the ground that his presence was “such as to disturb public order and calm”.

Fifty-one species of Reduviidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) are recorded from Belize; literature citations are provided where relevant, and specimen data are included for examined material. Thirteen previously-described species are reported from Belize for the first time, ten of which represent new generic records: Eupheno histrionicus Stål, 1862 (Cetherinae); Ghinallelia signoreti (Dohrn, 1860) (Emesinae); Rasahus albomaculatus (Mayr, 1865) (Peiratinae); Leogorrus interruptus Champion, 1899; Microlestria laevis Champion, 1899; Nalata quadrituberculata Champion, 1899; Nalata setulosa Stål, 1862; Pseudozelurus superbus (Champion, 1899); Zelurus spinidorsis (Gray, 1832) (all Reduviinae); Oncerotrachelus conformis Uhler, 1894; Saica fuscipes Stål, 1862 (both Saicinae); Gnathobleda litigiosa Stål, 1862; and Stenopoda wygodzinskyi Giacchi, 1969 (both Stenopodainae). Among the ten subfamilies reported, Belizean records for one subfamily, Saicinae, are reported for the first time. Accompanying the checklist are the descriptions of Castolus omega Swanson sp. nov. (Harpactorinae) and Pygolampis aptena Swanson sp. nov. (Stenopodainae).

First and additional host-plant records for 38 species of Gelechiidae from South Africa and Kenya are presented. An annotated list with brief descriptions of larval biology and known geographical distributions is presented. Three species are described as new: Mesophleps kruegeri sp. nov. (Namibia: Kavango Region and South Africa: Limpopo Province), Istrianis inquilinus sp. nov. (South Africa: North West Province), and Teleiopsis sharporum sp. nov. (South Africa: Limpopo Province). The new combination Istrianis epacria (Bradley, 1965) comb. nov. is proposed. The male genitalia of Hypatima melanecta (Meyrick, 1914) is described for the first time. It is noticed that male hitherto associated with T. commaculata (Meyrick, 1918) in fact refers to T. pundamilia Bidzilya & Mey, 2018. Hypatima stasimodes (Meyrick, 1931), Dichomeris coenulenta (Meyrick, 1927), Dichomeris eustacta Meyrick, 1921, Neotelphusa similella Janse, 1958 and Argophara epaxia Janse, 1963 are recorded for the first time from South Africa, and Istrianis epacria is new for Kenya. The adults, male and female genitalia are illustrated for some species mentioned in paper. The first record of the genus Teleiopsis Sattler, 1960 from South Africa is briefly discussed.

The results of field studies of the lichen flora of the Kerzhensky Reserve (Nizhny Novgorod Region), carried out mainly in the Kerzhenets River valley in May 2019, are presented. An annotated list of taxa previously unknown for the reserve includes 121 species from 70 genera. Of these, 97 species and 31 genera are new to the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The species Micarea soralifera and Rinodina excrescens are published for the first time for European Russia. We have found some very rare species in European Russia previously known from single records (Agonimia repleta, Bacidina indigens, Gyalideopsis alnicola, Sclerophora amabilis, Stigmidium mycobilimbiae, Telogalla olivieri, and Verrucaria ochrostoma).
