It has been documented that grit plays an indispensable role in the process of language learning and teaching. It is postulated that gritty people are more able to become involved in classroom practice and remain motivated even in light of challenges; however, what remains vague is the interplay of grit, well-being, and classroom enjoyment. To this end, 335 male and female Chinese EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners who were studying English in 28 universities took part in this study. They completed three questionnaires including the grit scale questionnaire (Grit-S), foreign language enjoyment scale, and PERMA well-being scale. The Pearson coefficient of correlation was run to investigate the first research question of the study while, after checking the preliminary assumptions, for the second research question a multiple regression analysis was used. The findings of the study demonstrated that there is a positive relationship between learners' grit and enjoyment, and high degrees of enjoyment were interrelated to high degrees of grit. The findings of the study also signified that grit significantly predicted students' well-being and was also a predictor of classroom enjoyment. Finally, some implications and recommendations have been offered for language teaching stakeholders in educational settings.

This study aimed to explore Sudanese EFL undergraduate students’ level and kinds of motivation towards learning English as a Foreign Language. Simple random sampling technique was used to select (25) firs-year students drawn exclusively from the English Language Department, at College of Languages, in University of Bahri. A questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection. The data was then analysed using statistical package for social science (SPSS). The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method to interpret the data obtained from the above mentioned instrument. The findings revealed that most of Sudanese EFL students have extrinsic orientation towards English language learning. Therefore, the study recommended that EFL teachers should incorporate authentic teaching materials and content into their lecture plans to supplement and enhance textbook units and topics to encourage internal motivation in students and help them achieve their goals.

ABSTRACT The learning process of language teaching seems to be very demanding and complicated, especially for speaking skill. Speaking, alongside with writing, is considered to be productive skill in which it requires students to produce the language in spoken form. The students need to be able to speak the language by considering some aspects of speaking such as fluency and accuracy. In other words, not only the student has to speak correctly, but also it has to be as smooth as possible. Such particular case becomes one of the reasons why it is difficult to master the skill itself. in another case, it has become much more difficult for the students to grasp the speaking material. Moreover, designing a speaking environment for language teaching in classroom context is no difference. Due to the fact that the scope of speaking skill is complex, the students are reluctant to say something or use the language. That is why the English teacher needs to come up with specific plans to teach English as second or foreign language. One of ways to overcome the problem is by implementing game. The nature of game will help the English teacher to develop such amusing and enjoyable atmosphere in the teaching and learning process.
