The terms ‘planning permission’ and ‘land use’ are of no anomalous amongst policy makers in the field of land administration and town planning. However, due to different policy jurisdictions, contradicting land uses are bound to arise and may affect land revenue. For the purpose of preliminary study, two surveys were conducted targeting two groups, 500 respondents amongst the public and 468 amongst policy makers in Selangor. Two different set of questionnaires in the form of Google Form were distributed within the course of two months via e-mail and ‘Whatsapp’ mobile application. The study is to test the level of awareness amongst the general public, and to test the level of awareness and readiness of policy makers as executors. It is later found that an average of 65% of all respondents are unaware of the policies in relations to land use. Alas, it is recommended that an in-depth study to be conducted to increase public awareness on top of equipping policy makers with sufficient knowledge in maximizing the use of Temporary Planning Permission in matters of land administration and town planning, thus improving land revenue collections.

Refrigerated warehouses are large energy consumers and account for a significant portion of the global energy demand. Nevertheless the opportunity for integration of renewable resources in the energy supply of large cold storage facilities is very often unjustifiably neglected, whereas the employment of renewable energy for many other industrial and comfort applications is actively promoted and explored. In that context, the purpose of this chapter is to bridge the existing gap by raising the public awareness of stakeholders, researchers, practicing engineers and policy makers about the availability of a number of smart engineering solutions and control strategies to exploit renewables of different nature (solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, etc.) in the food storage sector, as well as by calling the readers' attention to the specialised knowledge in the matter, which has been published so far.

Land use policy is central to the development of urban life and the emergence of cities. In many developed capitalist societies, both the planning and expansion of the cities are usually anchored on sustainable urban land policies such that the growth of urban sprawl is effectively controlled. In most developing countries, land use policies are not only disparate, they are usually not connected to the growth of cities because policy makers are after the money they could make from private investors. This chapter argues that though the coming of the Land Use Act 1978 ended the era of disparate land law regimes, it has, over the years, sealed the control of urban lands to state governors, a development that has created massive corruption and arbitrariness in the allocation and utilization of urban lands. This approach to land administration has also hindered effective and sustainable urban and regional planning in many Nigerian cities. This study suggests the review of the 1978 Land Use Act and effective utilization of modern technologies in the monitoring of urban sprawls.

The adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) have proven to be a crucial factor to decreasing the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) into the atmosphere. However, there are various hurdles that impede people from purchasing EVs. For example, long charging time, short driving range, cost and insufficient charging infrastructures available, etc. This article reports the public perception of EV-adoption using statistical analyses and proposes some recommendations for improving EV-adoption in Qatar. User perspectives on EV-adoption barriers in Qatar were investigated based on survey questionnaires. The survey questionnaires were based on similar studies done in other regions of the world. The study attempted to look at different perspectives of the adoption of EV, when asked to a person who is aware of EVs (technical respondents—people studying/working at universities/research centers and policy makers) or a person who may or may not be aware of EVs (non-technical respondents—people working in banks, governments and private non-academic organizations, etc.). Cumulative survey responses from the two groups were compared and analyzed using two-sample t-test statistical analysis. Detailed analyses showed that—among various major hindrances—raising of public awareness of such greener modes of transportation, the availability of charging options in more places and policy incentives towards EVs would play a major role in EV-adoption. The authors provide recommendations that—along with government incentives—could help make a gradual shift to a greater number of EVs convenient for people of Qatar. The proposed systematic approach for such a study and analysis may help in streamlining research on policies, infrastructures and technologies for efficient penetration of EVs in Qatar.

Immorality in the public/private service has been a great concern to various governments and researchers throughout the world because of its complexity. Despite all the existing laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the public service, the policy makers have failed to arrest the situation that is multiplying day by day. This may not be unconnected with the neglect of religious ethics that control the heart of an individual as it affects the public service. Islam provides comprehensive ethical guidelines for the running of public service which can be achieved through Islamic justice and fairness. To have faithful leaders, it is of great importance for the policy makers to ensure the manifestation of religious ethics and justice in the public service through the public awareness. Using proposed methodology this paper presents a conceptual review of the leader’s work ethics based on Islamic perspectives as well as its application in modern business toward sustaining the performance of the public and private organizations. This research is significant as there is a lack of Islamic code of ethics that guides the public and private organizations effectively. There is need for empirical test in the future as this research is conceptual in nature.

Bindu River Ecotourism is a tourist attraction that has natural potential as a place of recreation in the Denpasar City area. Apart from the potential offered by Bindu River Ecotourism, there are still problems that exist in Bindu River Ecotourism including river water which has a lot of sediment, the lack of public awareness to care about the surrounding environment, and the lack of exposure by the public makes only the surrounding community aware of it. If zoning is not carried out in its development, the natural potential of the Bindu River Ecotourism area that has been arranged can be reduced, for this reason, zoning is needed in its development to determine areas in the Bindu River Ecotourism area that are in accordance with the land use and development potential. Based on the delineation and the existing potential, the Bindu River Ecotourism area is divided into a conservation zone and a recreation zone. While the recreation zone can also be developed into several more zones. The upstream recreation zone can be developed into a recreation function development zone and the downstream recreation zone can be developed into an educational function development zone
