The rapid increase in the number of overweight and obese individuals poses a significant threat to the health of the world's population of all ages. Obesity is able to induce a condition of chronic low-intensity inflammation underlying the number of diseases, and, in particular, the diseases of the cardiovascular system. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the response of the cardiovascular system and the state of autonomic nervous system to graduated physical exercises in young adults with normal body weight and overweight. Anthropometric measurements of 84 individuals of both sexes aged 18-25 years were carried out. According to the body mass index (BMI), the following groups were defined: control group of 22 individuals (BMI 18,50-24,99 kg/m2), group with overweight individuals (n=20) of both sexes (BMI 25,00-29,99 kg/m2). The condition of the cardio-vascular system was evaluated by heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure; the status of autonomic nervous system was assessed by the Kerdo index. Indicators were evaluated before and immediately after the graduated exercise test. Data obtained were processed statistically. According to the results of the study, the normotоnic type by its response to the physical exercise was found out in both study groups, but the overweight individuals of both sexes demonstrated the cardiovascular indicators were significantly higher compared to the control group. Having finished the physical exercise tests, overweight men and women showed marked sympathicotonia (≥ + 31). The Kerdo᾿s index in 29,65% of male and in 19,01% of female individuals was higher than in the individuals with normal body mass (p <0.05). It can be concluded that the dominance of sympathetic influences is characteristic for overweight individuals after physical activity. Correlation between anthropometric, cardiovascular and Kerdo᾿s index immediately following the physical exertion in overweight individuals indicate impaired autonomic nervous system balance restoration.

The control of cardiovascular system by autonomic nervous system using model-based analysis is very useful to predict blood flow and blood pressure at different locations of human body. The regulation of cardiovascular system by autonomic nervous system is a very complex mechanism, so, an experimental-based model analysis may prove very helpful in studying and analysing its working properly. In this article, a very basic model of cardiovascular system is presented with blood pressure dynamics studied throughout the body. A new bond graph model of the autonomic nervous system embedded with baroreflex system is also presented. Autonomic regulation of ventricular contractility is represented by means of transfer functions. The results in terms of maximum ventricular elastance ([Formula: see text]) and end systolic pressure are shown for two experiments. Another alternative modelling approach to represent the function of nervous system action in blood pressure regulation in terms of an overwhelming controller has been proposed. This controller overwhelms the system properties and therefore helps in managing the unmodelled parts or properties of a system and makes it impeccable for controlling complex systems. All the results and simulations are obtained using Symbols Shakti® software (Bond graph software).

Introduction. In connection with the widespread introduction of osteopathy into practical medicine, new facts confi rming its effectiveness are appearing. These facts need theoretical justifi cation. The biodynamic approach is the least studied and scientifi cally proven approach in osteopathy. There are only a few works describing the benefi cial effects of this type of treatment on the autonomic nervous system based on an assessment of heart rate variability. One of the most sensitive indicators of changes in the state of the body is the electrical activity of the skin (EAS), which is widely used in modern polygraphic devices.Goal of research — to investigate the EAS in the physician and in the patient during the session of craniosacral biodynamics (CSB).Materials and methods. The study involved 32 patients who were randomly divided into 2 groups — control group (10 patients) and main group (22 patients). In the control group there were 8 women and 2 men aged from 20 to 65 years (mean age 42±20 years). In the main group, 16 women and 6 men aged from 18 to 68 years (mean age 40±16 years) were examined. Two professional certifi ed computerized polygraphs «Chris» were used, simultaneously recording the EAS values of the doctor and the patient. In the main group, the background indicators were recorded at the fi rst stage (10 minutes), then the procedure of the CSB, which lasted 20 minutes, was recordered. The control group was used only for registration of EAS. At the same time, patients were in the same conditions as in the main group.Results. During the CSB, the state of both the doctor (p<0,001) and the patient (p<0,001) has changed signifi cantly. At the same time, the tendency of changes in individual indicators of EAS in patients during treatment was logical. The altered state of the physician practically did not depend on its original level (p>0,05). However, there was a high relationship between the states of the doctor during contact and non-contact treatment (correlation coeffi cient 0,80, p<0,001). The patient′s initial condition had a moderate, statistically signifi cant relationship with his condition during the treatment (p<0,001). Since the beginning of the craniosacral biodynamics, the patient′s condition has hardly changed. At the same time, the contactless impact on the patient′s body was comparable with the contact effect (correlation coeffi cient 0,97, p<0,001). There was no signifi cant relationship between the states of the physician and the patient before the beginning of the treatment (correlation coeffi cient 0,18, p>0,05). However, in the process of craniosacral biodynamics, a statistically signifi cant relationship was formed between them with a correlation coeffi cient for non-contact exposure equal to 0,49 (p<0,01) and for contact exposure — 0,34 (p<0,05). Biodynamic treatment statistically signifi cantly improved the state of the autonomic nervous system.Conclusion. The study of the electrical activity of the skin in craniosacral biodynamics is a highly informative method, which allows to verify and quantify the changes occurring in the patient and in the physician during the treatment.

The study of the restructuring of the body of a pregnant woman with relation to the theory of functional systems is necessary for a complete understanding of the formation of adaptive processes. Of particular interest is pregnancy resulting from extracorporeal fertilization (IVF). Aim. to estimate the adaptive capacity of women with physiological pregnancy and IVF. Materials and methods. The object of the study: healthy women before pregnancy and in the I trimester (I group), patients with tubal-peritoneal infertility at the planning stage and after an effective IVF (II group), women with an unsuccessful IVF (III group). We conducted a study of the functional state of the cardiovascular system of pregnant women with the calculation of adaptive potential (AP) by R. M. Bayevsky. We assessed the regulation of the vegetative nervous system — Kerdo index (KI). We determined the state of regulatory systems with the stress index (L.H. Garkavi et al.). Results. In patients with physiological pregnancy, we noted the effect on the cardiovascular system of the autonomic nervous system and the tension of adaptive reactions. In pregnant women with IVF we recorded the depletion of adaptive activity of the sympathetic autonomic nervous system. This led to a significant strain or failure of adaptation with the predominant influence of the parasympathetic autonomic nervous system. Conclusion. Significant differences in the studied parameters in women with ineffective IVF program at the stage of pregnancy planning may have important prognostic value for determining the tactics of management of patients.

Background. In most industrialized countries, allergic diseases affect up to 20% of the population. This pathology belongs to the most common in children: according to the World Health Organization, more than 15% of the world's child population suffers from it. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the frequency and more severe course of these diseases, in connection with which they are considered in modern society as a major medical and social problem. Thus, the prevalence of bronchial asthma, according to domestic and foreign authors, ranges from 0.2 to 8.1%. Purpose. In order to clarify the role of the autonomic nervous system in the genesis of the mild course of atopic bronchial asthma in childhood, the features of the interaction of the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions of the autonomic nervous system in the examined children were clarified. Materials and methods. 126 children aged 10 to 14 years were examined. Atopic bronchial asthma was diagnosed in 91 children. At the same time, 61 of them were diagnosed with an intermittent course, 30 a mild persistent course of the disease. The control group consisted of 35 healthy children also aged 10 to 14 years. Complaints, anamnesis data were studied in all children, an objective and generally accepted laboratory and instrumental examination was carried out. All examined children underwent daily monitoring of the electrocardiogram, according to the results of which, based on the analysis of time and frequency indicators of heart rate variability, a variant of the initial autonomic tone was established. Results. In children with atopic bronchial asthma, both with intermittent and mild persistent course, an absolute or relative dominance of sympathetic influences was revealed against the background of varying degrees of decrease in parasympathetic activity, which was interpreted as a compensatory reaction of the body in response to chronic allergic inflammation.

Introduction.Much attention is paid to the analysis of problems that arise during the initial stage of children's education in school in recent years. Preschool age is one of the sensitive and critical stages of individual development. Explicit structural and functional changes occur during this period. These changes are accompanied by an increase in the functional stress of psychovegetative mechanisms of regulation. Both psychological and physical stress are considered to be the cause of autonomic disorders. Such a provoking factor may be the beginning of school for a child. Formation of visual and auditory perception is one of the leading functions of cognitivedevelopment for older preschool children. This function provides the child's interaction with the external environment and its orientation in space. This function is also an indicator of the child's readiness for school. Therefore, the importance of studying the features of the functional state of the cardiovascular system during the audio-visual load of educational and developmental nature is relevant.Thepurposewas to study the features of autonomic regulation of heart rhythm of children 5-6 years old under conditions of cognitive load.Methods.Observation was carried out on children 5-6 years of age of preparatory groups of preschool educational institutions of the Sumy city (n = 192). We assume that changes in autonomic functions may be influenced bythe immaturity of motor-motor, visual-auditory, speech-auditory and visual-graphic components. An important component of educational and cognitive activities in preschool age is the development of reading and writing. Visual information was studied from two positions pictorial (elements of writing) and verbal (recognition of letters and words elements of reading). The method of phasography was used to study the state of the cardiovascular system. This method was used using the device "Phazagraph". This device is designed for recording and analysis of the electrocardiogram in the phase space to estimate the amplitude and speed parameters of any elements of the electrocardiogram, which allows you to accurately estimate the graph of the electrocardiogram.Results.It was found that sympathicotonia is manifested among the examined children aged 5 and 6 years during cognitive load. Activation of the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system occurs during writing compared to reading. That is, the adaptive mechanisms of the autonomic nervous system correspond to lower rates during writing compared to reading. The reason for this may be the immaturity of autonomous supply systems and mechanisms for their regulation and indicate an imbalance of autonomicsupply. In turn, the dominance of sympathetic influence on heart rate is accompanied by signs of dysregulation of cardiovascular functions during writing for children. The reason may be the immaturity of the functional systems of the interconnected brain areas, which is accompanied by a deterioration in the coordination of autonomic functions of the body. Originality. The idea of the formation of psychophysiological features in ontogenesis is expanded.Conclusion. A comprehensive assessment of children's adaptation to exercise was justified.

Background: The search for autonomic correlates of emotional processing has been a matter of interest for the scientific community with the goal of identifying the physiological basis of emotion. Despite an extensive state-of-the-art exploring the correlates of emotion, there is no absolute consensus regarding how the body processes an affective state. Objectives: In this work, we aimed to aggregate the literature of psychophysiological studies in the context of emotional induction. Methods: For this purpose, we conducted a systematic review of the literature and a meta-analytic investigation, comparing different measures from the electrodermal, cardiovascular, respiratory and facial systems across emotional categories/dimensions. Two-hundred and ninety-one studies met the inclusion criteria and were quantitatively pooled in random-effects meta-analytic modelling. Results: Heart rate and skin conductance level were the most reported psychophysiological measures. Overall, there was a negligible differentiation between emotional categories with respect to the pooled estimates. Of note, considerable amount of between-studies’ heterogeneity was found in the meta-analytic aggregation. Self-reported ratings of emotional arousal were found to be associated with specific autonomic-nervous system (ANS) indices, particularly with the variation of the skin conductance level. Conclusions: Despite this clear association, there is still a considerable amount of unexplained variability that raises the need for more fine-grained analysis to be implemented in future research in this field.

Introduction: Available data suggest that there is an association between endometriosis and a group of disorders including autonomic nervous system irregularities. A deeper understanding of relationship between endometriosis and autonomic nervous system is needed as it may lead to novel discoveries on the causes or consequences of endometriosis. In this study, we analyzed the prevalence of migraine in patients with endometriosis. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, medical records of women were reviewed through January 2013 to December 2017. Women with laparoscopically proven endometriosis (n = 185) were compared with those without endometriosis (n = 168). The 3-item screening questions (ID Migraine™) test was used to screen migraine. Data were analyzed using SPSS v25 (IBM Corporation). The χ2 test was used for analyzing the nominal parameters and group comparisons. Pearson χ2 was used to study the association between endometriosis and migraine. Results: The mean age was 31.86 ± 4.49 years of the endometriosis group and 28.95 ± 5.11 years of the controls (p = 0.408). The two pre-screening questions of ID Migraine test were answered positively by 86 patients of the endometriosis group (75.4%) and by 53 patients of the control group (54.6%) (p = 0.001). Of these patients, 51 (44.7% of endometriosis group) and 26 (26.8% of control group) were diagnosed as having migraine using 3-item Migraine questionnaire (p = 0.007). Conclusion: This study showed that the prevalence of migraine was significantly higher in patients with endometriosis. Because there is a strong correlation, patients with endometriosis should be screened for headache and migraine to increase the benefits of care.

Abstract   Within the framework of the research into pathological conditions and syndromes associated with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD), an emphasis needs to be placed on the changes in heart rhythm. In puberty, the severity of neurovegetative disorders caused by the presence of UCTD might increase manifold. The features of heart rate variability (HRV) in pubertal children against the background of UCTD have been studied insufficiently and require more detailed analysis. This study aims to assess heart rate variability and tone of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in puberty-aged children with UCTD. Two groups of children were examined, with methods including electrocardiography and cardiointervalography. The main group consisted of 36 puberty-aged children with UCTD, the control group consisted of 30 healthy children. ANS tone was assessed based on the HRV. In the control group of children aged 11, the value of variation range (VR) was 0.18±0.4, mode amplitude (MA) 35.2±2.4, stress index (IN) 72.8±4.3, which corresponds to the state of vegetative balance. As the puberty progresses, the state of eutonia is replaced by the activation of the sympathetic division of the ANS, which becomes most pronounced at the age of 13 years. In the control group of children aged 13, the value of VR was 0.08±0.02, MA 61.7±2.1, SI 210.6±8.6, which corresponds to moderate sympathicotonia. By the end of puberty, in healthy children, the severity of sympathetic activation begins to decrease, and at the age of 15 years, vegetative balance is again observed. However, this pattern is violated in children with UCTD. Upon entering puberty, moderate activation of the sympathetic division of the ANS is already observed in children with UCTD. At the age of 11 years in this group, the value of VR is 0.06±0.02, MA 72.4±3.1, SI 211.2±8.6. At the age of 13, pronounced sympathicotonia is observed, which is confirmed by the values of VR - 0.04±0.01, MA 80.2±4.3 and SI 34.3±14.7. By the end of puberty in children with UCTD, in contrast to the control group, the analyzed parameters indicate not an equilibrium of the ANS, but the predominance of parasympathetic activation. The research provides an insight into heart rate variability in puberty-aged children with UCTD. It was established that healthy children enter puberty in a state of equilibrium of the autonomic nervous system, which in the middle of puberty is replaced by moderate sympathicotonia, and then returns to its original values. Children with the presence of UCTD enter puberty with moderately pronounced sympathicotonia, which gradually increases to pronounced values and is replaced by moderate vagotonia.
