The research talks about the conflict of the land acquisition of Jatigede dam construction at Wado, Sumedang. This research has a purpose to know how the process of a land acquisition is, the causative factors of a land acquisition, the impacts of a land acquisition and the conflict resolution for the land acquisition of Jatigede dam construction in Wado. This research usedqualitative approach and case study method. The data collected with observation technique, deep interview and documentation study. The research informant consists of the land acquisition committee, the institution in Wado, the society figure and the people who got the impact. The result of this research shows that the process of a land acquisition make horizontal conflict and vertical conflict come up which caused by the individual differences and had a impact on social system and society economic. Active participation and teamwork is the most effective effort in solving the conflict of the land acquisition of Jatigede dam construction.

The aim of the article was to determine the geographic and industry differences for employee-remuneration gap-enhanced labour productivity levels in a developing economy. The Winter-Ebmer and Zweimuller model was used to estimate the signs and magnitudes of the employee-remuneration gap-enhanced labour productivity levels for the different industries in the different geographical areas. The estimation results for all three industries indicated a significant difference between the higher gross geographical product (GGP) provinces and the lower GGP provinces in terms of the employee-remuneration gap-enhanced labour productivity indicator coefficients (ERGLP indicator coefficients). The negative sign of the ERGLP indicator coefficients for the industries of some of the lower GGP provinces relates to the non-existence of any possible positive labour productivity effects that might stem from employee-remuneration gaps. The introduction of business uncertainty resulted in smaller ERGLP indicator coefficients across all industries and geographical areas. The impact was much more severe in the case of the lower GGP provinces

In the construction of high-rise buildings, the effect produced by the excavation of deep and large foundition pits on the surrounding structures cannot be ignored. This paper presents a case study from a construction project located in Nanjing, in which the dynamic excavation process of a founditon pits is numerically analyzed with finite element method on Plaxis. The impact of various excavation stage on subway tunnel nearby is achieved in terms of the results of data analyses and assessments.

Abstract Housing construction is a common construction activity and is always needed from time to time. House construction can be in the form of building new house or renovating an existing building. The impact of construction work to adjacent building or structure is something that cannot be avoided but must be minimized. The case study in this research aims to increase the awareness of all parties in construction project related to the potential damage to the surrounding buildings that may occur. This research was conducted with a case study on the construction of residential houses in Case A and Case B located in Surabaya-Indonesia. Field observations, analysis of damage causes, rectification methods and estimated cost were carried out in this study. These two case studies presented the damages analysis on residential house due to settlement which caused by adjacent surcharge fill loading. This settlement causes a differential settlement on both sides of the existing building, which had impacts on floor slope and cracks in wall. Proposed rectification works were made to restore the house to reach minimum serviceability requirement and prevent further damage in the future. The cost of repairing and retrofitting the damage existing house significantly increases the budget for a new house construction project. Therefore, careful planning in construction project considering the impact of soil settlement is needed more attention, especially in a dense urban area. Good communication and coordination between contractors and owners of neighbouring building are also needed to minimize the potential conflicts during or after construction works.

The focus of this paper is on the impact of internal organizational factors on the inappropriate job performance and behaviour of employees. The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) in South Africa has been experiencing inappropriate job behaviour and performance of some of its workers. They include misappropriation of resources, maladministration, mismanagement, lack of service delivery, fraud, and corruption. Since many BCMM workers have various levels of formal education, such practices are not expected, because the structural-functionalist assumption is that formal education is a solution to societal challenges. Since inappropriate job behaviour and performance continue to be reported in spite of the formal education of BCMM workers, this study seeks to investigate how the two phenomena co-exist. It thus seeks to put into perspective the paradoxical co-existence of formal education with inappropriate job behaviour and performance, by focusing on the BCMM as a case-study. For data collection, this study used the mixed method approach; that is, a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The findings revealed structural, systemic, and human impediments to labour productivity in the BCMM. By and large, the unquestioning acceptance of the assumption that the skills shortage is responsible for inappropriate workers job performance and behaviour is discredited by the evidence of skilled personnel who exercise their responsibilities in a manner that undermines their occupational requirements. Therefore, this exploratory study affirms that the narrow conception of skills, that privileges job-specific capabilities, is not enough for cultivating a workforce with appropriate job behaviour and performance practices.
