13 October 1937 entered in the fate of our people with the execution of our intellectuals, who devoted their lives to the development of science, literature, culture, ideas of independence, but whose desires, aspirations were stained with blood. The people of Azerbaijan have lost bright faces, outstanding teachers and world-famous scientists who make up the intellectual wealth of the nation. Among them were Haji Karim Sanili (1878-1937); Bekir Behbud oglu Chobanzade (1893-1937); Hanafi Baba oglu Zeynalli (1896-1937). Presentation of repressed Azerbaijani educators to the world should be the main task of young researchers - teachers, as well as journalists. For this reason, it is recommended that this article be made available to the general public. Key words: one of the members of the new alphabet committee, the creator of the Azerbaijani spelling, the founder of the pedagogical education system, the world-famous Azerbaijani academician, the victims of repression

Electronic resources (e-resources) have become an integral part of libraries’ resources in many parts of the world and enable libraries to meet users’ needs whenever and wherever they are located. Open access (OA) resources similarly decrease financial and geographic barriers to using content. Libraries incorporate open resources into their collections to enhance or replace their subscribed content. As pressure mounts for authors and publishers to make content open, many libraries also support the creation and provision of OA materials. During unexpected disruptions, such as the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, these subscription-based and OA resources enable libraries to continue to meet their users’ needs as they cancel events, close physical locations, and support efforts to move courses and workplaces entirely online. Techniques for Electronic Resource Management: TERMS and the Transition to Open provides a thorough and sophisticated overview of the work that goes into supporting these types of resources.

In our pilot research on polysemy and semantic changes of the Welsh adjective llawn we analyse its use in the language of Dafydd ap Gwilym (ca. 1320–1370), which can easily be done now with the help of the electronic resource www.dafyddapgwilym.net. We put this data in the context of a project on lexical typology, carried out by the Moscow Lexical Typology Group, which aims at describing polysemy patterns in basic adjectives of Russian, Serbian, German, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and other languages of the world. Both the direct and metaphorical meanings of the Welsh llawn are close to what is found in other languages analysed; however, there are certain peculiarities to be addressed.

The phrase 'joined-up' is fast becoming something of a badge for modern imaginative ways of thinking. While much of this attitude may be 'hype' there do seem to be trends which .stress joined-up views of the world. From a social perspective this is evident in moves towards political union in Western Europe and the global influence of multinational corporations. Technology is also contributing to the joined-up view. Multimedia supports new forms of expression, which integrate diverse forms of representation, as eloquently advocated by Negroponte (1995). Networked technologies enable and encourage global communication and information dissemination, as emphasized by the recent decision in the UK to support the development of a Distributed National Electronic Resource (JISC, 1999).DOI:10.1080/0968776000080201

Purpose The purpose of this paper in information literacy assessment is to explore how library training can promote electronic resource usage. Increasing the usage of electronic resources is an issue of concern for many libraries all over the world. Several studies stress the importance of information literacy and instruction to increase the usage. Design/methodology/approach The present article presents the results of implementing training programmes to increase the use of the e-library. Findings Training sessions increase the usage of library e-resources significantly; however, the effect seems to be short-lived and training sessions alone may not increase the overall long-term usage. Originality/value The present paper presents a study of training sessions as means to increase awareness and usage of library e-resources. Implications for the planning of training are discussed.
