Introduction the first month of Pokemon Go is the only time this world knew peace @cake_hoarder (Twitter, September 2019) The above tweet illuminates the nostalgia and fondness that is often evoked by the memory of summer 2016, a summer that was characterized by the release of Pokemon Go, a smartphone app based on the anime series, Pokemon. The twitter user likens this period to “world peace”, a comparison that is rooted within the design of the game that motivated social interaction among its users. One of the ways that Pokemon Go promoted communal gameplay was through the inclusion of PokeStops, a digitized meeting hub that allows for players to collect Poke Balls. These digital hubs mirrored the ones featured within Pokemon, and similarly to the characters within the anime, players would often encounter other players while visiting Poke Stops. This allowed for players to interact with one another, leading many to exchange tips on where to find rare and hard to catch Pokemon and even forming teams to widen their scope. The fusion of nostalgia for the times of trading Pokemon cards in schoolyards, the collective goal of players, and the warm weather created a rose tint around the summer, one that almost felt like “world peace”.

Abstract. Places can be characterized by the ways that people interact with them, such as the times of day certain place types are frequented, or how place combinations contribute to urban structure. Intuitively, schools are most visited during work day mornings and afternoons, and are more likely to be near a recreation center than a nightclub. These temporal and spatial signatures are so specific that they can often be used to categorize a particular place solely by its interaction patterns. Today, numerous commercial datasets and services are used to access required information about places, social interaction, news, and so forth. As these datasets contain information about millions of the same places and the related services support tens of millions of users, one would expect that analysis performed on these datasets, e.g., to extract data signatures, would yield the same or similar results. Interestingly, this is not always the case. This has potentially far reaching consequences for researchers that use these datasets. In this work, we examine temporal and spatial signatures to explore the question of how the data acquiring cultures and interfaces employed by data providers such as Google and Foursquare, influence the final results. We approach this topic in terms of biases exhibited during service usage and data collection.

The paper analyzes the cultural interaction in mixed marriage of Indian national who live in Jakarta with Indonesian in the more penetrating globalization process in Asia in the 21st century. The research aims to examine the binding of two cultures tied in the knot in the marriage institution, its problem and negotiation. The qualitative methods used here is conducted through questionnaire and direct interview and through the social media. The result of which shows that factors such as cultural difference, respective country rules, and family tie interfere the social interaction in mixed marriage. But, despite the challenges, it is capable to generate negotiation and cultural appropriation of each party to support a multicultural and cosmopolitan marriage.

Background: The increasing demand and shortage of experts to evaluate and treat acute stroke patients has led to the development of remote communication tools to aid stroke management. We aimed to describe the experience of the Brazilian Stroke Network in the implementation of a telemedicine stroke program using a low-cost smartphone application system (JOIN App, Allm, Japan) for rapid sharing of clinical and neuroimaging patient data. Methods: We evaluated the initial experience of the telestroke program using a smartphone app measuring its feasibility, safety and speed in the acute stroke decision-making process, with a particular focus on intravenous thrombolysis. The App was implemented in hospitals without neurologists available for acute stroke evaluation and was connected with a stroke team to support the decision for thrombolysis. We analyzed the times of acute treatment and safety through the rate of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) in 24hours. The program was implemented as part of the partnership with the Angels Initiative in Brazil supported by Boehringer Ingelheim to improve stroke care across the globe. Results: The telestroke program started in May 2019 and since then 7 hospitals, in 5 Brazilian states, were included. Only 2 of these hospitals had previous experience with stroke thrombolysis. In all hospitals, the patients were assisted by emergency physicians with eventual support of local neurologists. The telestroke program was activated for 58 patients. The median age was 68yo (IQR58-72), 47% were female and the baseline NIHSS was 11 (IQR8-16). In 69% of the activation the diagnosis was ischemic stroke (IS), 7% hemorrhagic, 5% TIA and 28% other diagnosis. Thrombolysis was suggested in 48% of all evaluations (70% of IS patients). A total of 53% of IS were actually treated with thrombolys. The response-time of the stroke experts was 2.6 minutes (2-6), door-to-CT scan 20min (15-31) and door-needle time 59min (27-81). None of the patients had sICH. Conclusion: In a telestroke program using a smartphone App, thrombolysis performed by emergency physicians was feasible and safe. This mobile low cost technology can increase the possibility of patients with stroke to receive treatment in regions without neurologists across the globe.

A year after the release of the film “Spectre”, the Mexican government decided to organize a parade in Mexico city as a consequence of the representation in such film. Even though a parade is not even part of the original tradition. Cultures naturally change and evolve yet, how valid is it for foreigners to be responsible for these modifications? How are these actions different from the cultural impositions in the times of the colonies?

Abstract We consider the ways humans engage in social epistemic actions, to guide each other's attention, prediction, and learning processes towards salient information, at the timescale of online social interaction and joint action. This parallels the active guidance of other's attention, prediction, and learning processes at the longer timescale of niche construction and cultural practices, as discussed in the target article.

AbstractThe Algol-type eclipsing binary WX Eridani was observed on 21 nights on the 48-inch telescope of the Japal-Rangapur Observatory during 1973-75 in B and V colours. An improved period of P = 0.82327038 days was obtained from the analysis of the times of five primary minima. An absorption feature between phase angles 50-80, 100-130, 230-260 and 280-310 was present in the light curves. The analysis of the light curves indicated the eclipses to be grazing with primary to be transit and secondary, an occultation. Elements derived from the solution of the light curve using Russel-Merrill method are given. From comparison of the fractional radii with Roche lobes, it is concluded that none of the components have filled their respective lobes but the primary star seems to be evolving. The spectral type of the primary component was estimated to be F3 and is found to be pulsating with two periods equal to one-fifth and one-sixth of the orbital period.
