Abstract In order to increase the competitiveness of an agricultural holding through the efficient use of the production factors, the modernization of an agricultural farm was carried out by exending the existing greenhouse with at least 700m2 for the intensive cultivation of ornamental plants - Thuja Orientalis. The material is produced by initiating crops in pots, with seedlings grown in pots or transplanting them in pots right after the first year of the multiplication and growing them in containers, appropriate to their size, until reaching their full value. From a technical point of view, reaching the objective will also be possible through a localized irrigation system.

In the paper is presented a study regarding the bio-energetic potential of agricultural crops and the evaluation possibilities of agricultural wastes for energetic proposes. In the study is analyzed, from technical and economical point of view, the phases of energy from solid biomass conversion. The authors proposed an agricultural farm for the evaluation of energetic potential of agricultural solid biomass as a fuel.

The article analyses the productivity and competitiveness of Polish organic farms of different sizes, as well as their potential, production intensity and the costs. The analysis covers the period of 2013–2017. Information that was used in this study came from FADN farms and was included in the publications Technical- economic parameters according to agricultural farm groups participating in the Polish FADN from the years 2013–2017. Two methods were applied: a descriptive method with the use of tabulated summaries and a comparative method. In 2013–2017 the production potential, productivity and competitiveness of Polish ecological farms depended on their size. The largest farms with 50 ha of farmland turned out to be the most competitive, whereas those with 30–50 ha of farmland were found to be able to withstand competition. Farms that produce ecological products whose area is up to 30 ha were found uncompetitive despite subsidies.

Cloud computing and internet of things (IoT) are playing a crucial role in the present era of technological, social, and economic development. The novel models where cloud and IoT are integrated together are foreseen as disruptive and enable a number of application scenarios. The e-smart is an application system designed by leveraging cloud, IoT, and several other technology frameworks that are deployed on the agricultural farm to collect the data from the farm fields. The application extracts and collects the information about the residue levels of soil and crop details and the same data will be hosted in the cloud environment. The proposed e-smart application system is to analyze, integrate, and correlate datasets and produce decision-oriented reports to the farmer by using several machine learning techniques.
