Field experiment was carried out during the rainy season of 2019 in Tal, Billiri Local Government, Gombe State and Teaching and Research farm University of Agriculture Makurdi Benue State. The aim of the experiment was to investigate the performance of five varieties of sesame under organic and inorganic fertilizer. Treatments consisted of five varieties of sesame (E-8, NCRIBEN-01, NCRIBEN-02, NCRIBEM-031 and YANDEV-55) and five fertilizers (NPK, Poultry dropping, cow dung, goat manure and control). These were factorially combined and laid in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results of the study revealed that sesame generally responded to both varietal, fertilizer and location effects. All the parameters studied have significantly (P≤0.05) responded to the both varietal, fertilizer and location effects where variety NCRIBEN-01 and E-8 was observed to perform higher in both growth character and grain yield. NPK fertilizer and Benue location was significant in both growth, yield related character and overall yield. Based on the result obtained it can be suggested that the use of E-8, NCRIBEN-01 and NPK fertilizer will lead to optimum yield for farmer in Billiri local Government, Gombe state and Benue State Nigeria

Aim: The experiment was conducted in the Kintampo North Municipality during the 2017 cropping season from August to November to evaluate the response of cabbage to different soil amendments. Methods: It was a single factor experiment laid out in a Randomized Complete Block design with three replications. The five treatments which includes NPK 15-15-15, poultry manure, cow dung and goat manure and a control. Results: Parameters measured were plant height, number of leaves, leave length, canopy diameter, head diameter and head weight. Generally, all treatments performed better than the control used in the study. Conclusions: Poultry manure performed similar to NPK 15-15-15, and were superior to all other treatments in all parameters measured. Cow dung and goat manure performed fairly well in the parameters measured. Recommendation: The study therefore recommends the application of poultry manure for improved growth, yield maximization and sustainable cabbage production.  Application of cow dung and goat manure can also be adopted for appreciable yields of cabbage.

Marginal uplands are characterized by low soil fertility and crop productivity. To alleviate the problem, organic amendments combined with inorganic fertilizer were tested to assess their effects on the growth and yield performance of sweetpotato; determine the option treatment combination; and assess the soil physicochemical properties. A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used with 3 replications and 7 treatments, namely: T0 = (0-0-0); T1 = 1 t ha-1 Evans + 30-30-30 kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T2 = 1 t ha-1 Wellgrow + 30-30-30 kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T3 = 15 t ha-1 chicken dung alone; T4 = 10 t ha-1 chicken dung + 30-30-30 kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T5 = 15 t ha-1 Vermicast alone; and T6 = 10 t ha-1 Vermicast + 30-30-30 kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1. Application of 10 t ha-1 of either chicken dung or vermicast plus 30-30-30 kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1 in Inopacan, Leyte produced higher total root yield over the control. Root yield during the second cropping greatly increased to 16.19 t ha-1 which is almost 3 times higher than the first crop when 15 t ha-1 chicken dung alone (T3) was used. In Sta. Rita, Samar, most of the growth, yield, and yield parameters of sweetpotato were not affected by the treatments. Moreover, only a slight improvement in soil properties was noted.

A study was conducted at the Soil Science Field Laboratory of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during Boro season of 2014 to evaluate the effect of integrated use of manures and fertilizers for maximizing the growth and yield of BRRI dhan28. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with six treatments and four replications. The treatments include T0 [Control], T1 [Soil Test Basis-Chemical Fertilizer], T2 [(Cowdung) + STB-CF] on IPNS basis, T3 [(Poultry Manure) + STB-CF] on IPNS basis, T4 [(Compost) + STB-CF] on IPNS basis, and T5 [Farmer’s practice]. The maximum grain yield of 4340 kg ha-1 (95.59% increase over control) and straw yield of 4024 kg ha-1 (56.42% increase over control) were recorded in T3 [ (PM) + STB-CF]. The lowest grain and straw yields were found for T0 (Control) treatment. The N, P, K and S contents and uptake by BRRI dhan28 were profoundly influenced due to combined application of manures and fertilizers. The performance of the treatment T3 was better than T1, T2 and T4 in producing the yield of grain and straw of BRRI dhan28 although they received the same amount of nutrients. The results indicate that application of fertilizers in combination with poultry manure could be considered more effective in rice production. AbstractThe nutrients requirement for Cucurbita pepo L. (summer squash) for optimal yield and quality fruits production can be achieved through adequate nutrient supply. A field experiment was carried out during the cropping season of 2015 and 2016 at Landmark University Teaching and Research Farm, Omu-Aran, Nigeria to investigate the impact of Tithonia diversifolia, poultry manure and NPK fertilizer on the growth, yield, mineral and vitamin C content in the fruit of C. pepo. The experiment consisted of T. diversifolia at 30 tons ha−1, poultry manure at 10 tons ha−1, T. diversifolia at 30 tons ha−1 + Poultry manure 10 tons ha−1, T. diversifolia at 30 tons ha−1 + NPK (20:10:10), NPK (20:10:10) and control (no amendment of any kind) arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The growth and fruit yield of C. pepo using the mean of the two years was increased by 68% and 2% respectively by T. diversifolia + poultry manure as compared to control due to an increase in nutrient availability in the soil with the amendment used. Also, Vitamin C content and Mg value of the fruit was increased by application of T. diversifolia as soil amendments as compared to the control. While the application of NPK fertilizer alone significantly increased the Ca, Mn and Fe contents of fruits. Fruit content of K was increased by 39 % by the application of T. diversifolia + NPK. Therefore, for the purpose of growing squash for the quality of fruits (vitamin C), the use of T. diversifolia at 30 tons ha−1 as organic fertilizer is sufficient for the cultivation, while for growing the crop with interest in quantity, application of T. diversifolia at 30 tons ha−1 + poultry manure at 10 tons ha−1 is recommended.

ABSTRACTGoat manure is one of organic fertilizers used as the main input in organic farming practice in Indonesia.  Since the slower availability of  nutrient elements to the plants is the characteristic of this manure compared to the other manures, then research on the time of incubation needs to be evaluated.  The study was conducted  in Medan Baru Fields Experiment, district Muara Bangkahulu Bengkulu city. Randomized Complete Block Design was arranged for the experiment. Time incubation of goat manure in the field was single factor consisted of  no incubation, 1 week before planting, 2 weeks before planting, 3 weeks before planting, and 4 weeks before planting.  As much as 20 tons/ha  of  goat manure was incorporated in the field, no additional inorganic fertilizer was applied on sweet corn plants var. Bonanza F1.  The sweetcorn plants responded better growth to treatment 4 weeks incubation of goat manure compared to treatment of no incubation. Research about influence of goat manure and NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of green eggplant (Solanum mengolena L.) has been conducted in field village farmer-owned Semen Gandusari District of Blitar which took place in March-April 2016. The aim of this study was to know the interaction for among goat manure and NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of green eggplant as well as the effect of each factor. This study uses Randomaized Complete Block Design (RCBD) factorial consisting of 16 treatment and each 3 replicates ie: P0M0, P0M1, P0M2, P0M3, P1M0, P1M1, P1M2, P1M3, P2M0, P2M1, P2M2, P2M3, P3M0, P3M1 , P3M2, P3M3. The data taking were plant height, leaf number, fruit length, fruit diameter and weight of fruit per plant. The data were analyzed to F test as followed by a 5% test Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) error level of 5%. The experimental results very significant effect on plant height, leaf number, fruit length and weight of fruits per plant and the effect is not noticeable to the diameter of fruit plants green eggplant. The combined use goat manure 750 g / plant and NPK fertilizer 60 g / plant (P2M3) is proper fertilization to improve the growth and best yield of green eggplant with the highest total weight of the fruit crop that yields 1576.6 grams

This study evaluates the growth performance of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) utilizing various fermented products as organic fertilizers. Growth performance is determined through the plant’s weight and leaves and significant differences in growth among various treatments: (a) fish trash, (b) scrap seaweeds, (c) kangkong, and control groups urea (positive) and water (negative) was also determined. Kangkong leaves are fermented for 10 days, fish trash for 14 days and 1 month for seaweeds. Lettuce seeds are sown before transplanting (15 days after germination) into pots and placed in raised beds. Randomized complete block design is utilized in the experiment. Growth performance is measured through the number of leaves 10, 20, and 30 days after transplant and mass of plant upon harvest. After 30 days, the lettuce was harvested. Based on the findings, the soil and fermented products are acidic and the needed organic matter for optimum growth of lettuce are not sufficient as well as some nutrients of the fermented products. Among the organic fertilizers, kangkong at 30 ml performs best in terms of the growth performance of lettuce. Urea performs best in terms of the mass upon harvest. Significant differences exist in the mean number of leaves of lettuce treated with various amounts of organic fertilizers with the plants that receive urea. Lettuce produce more number of leaves and with the highest mass upon harvest when treated with urea compared with organic fertilizers applied after 30 days from transplant. The present research was conducted at the experimental field of Agrotechnology Discipline, Khulna University, Khulna during Rabi season 2016-17 to investigate the growth and yield performance of mustard varieties. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design consisting of eight mustard varieties (viz. BARI Sarisha-8, BARI Sarisha-11, BARI Sarisha-13, BARI Sarisha-14, BARI Sarisha-15, BARI Sarisha-16, Rai and Tori-7) as treatment and replicated thrice. All the growth, yield attributes and yield were substantially influence among the mustard varieties except the phenological parameters. Results of the experiment showed that the highest plant height (131.33 cm), seed yield (1813.33 kg ha-1) and stover yield (3876.67 kg ha-1) were found in BARI Sarisha-16. BARI Sarisha-11 was found better in respect of maximum siliqua plant-1, weight of seeds plant-1, 1000-seed weight and harvest index. Besides this, BARI Sarisha-14 showed the maximum number of seeds siliqua-1. Therefore, findings of this study suggested that BARI Sarisha-16 would be suitable for better productivity and recommended for cultivation in the medium highland of Khulna region of Bangladesh.

An experiment was conducted to assess the performance of sweet pepper varieties as influenced by nitrogen levels from August 2014 to February 2015 at Mangalpur, Chitwan. The experiment was laid out in two factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications having sixteen treatments. Varieties and levels of nitrogen significantly affected growth, yield and qualitative parameters of fruits. Hybrid Indra and NS 632 performed better than open pollinated varieties viz. Sagar and California Wonder. Days to fifty percent flowering of NS 632 were earlier than California Wonder. Indra variety had the highest plant height (52.18 cm), number of secondary branches per plant (13.51) from 250 kg N/ha through chemical fertilizer while number of leaves per plant was higher in NS 632 variety (57.22) than Sagar variety (47.37). Indra variety showed the highest fruit weight (87.59 g) and total yield (39.45 t/ha) but NS 632 variety produced more number of fruits per plant (9.25) than California Wonder variety. This study showed that sweet pepper yield of hybrid varieties applied with 250 kg N/ha through chemical fertilizer was appropriate dose to get optimum yield under Chitwan condition.

ABSTRACT The usual application of high 4-14-8 NPK fertilizer rates in the potato planting furrows, independently of the soil fertility or nutritional cultivar requirements, has become a paradigm in Brazil. However, the 4-14-8 NPK formula does not always meet the crop needs, and can unbalance the availability of nutrients in the soil. The objective of this study was to evaluate the tuber yield and economic results of ‘Atlantic’ potato as affected by rates of 4-14-8 and 6-30-6 NPK formulas applied in the planting furrows. The rates of both NPK formulas were calculated to reach P2O5 rates of 210, 420, and 630 kg ha-1. At each P2O5 rate, the 6-30-6 formula resulted in less 30% N and 65% K2O in the planting furrow compared to 4-14-8 formula. A randomized complete block design in a factorial scheme (2×3)+1, including an unfertilized furrow control, with three replications was used. Only the use of 6-30-6 formula increased the total tuber yield of ‘Atlantic’ potato. The marketable tuber yield reached higher levels (29.8 t ha-1) with higher P2O5 rate (440 kg ha-1) using the 6-30-6 than 4-14-8 formula. The fertilizer rates and formulas NPK did not affect specific gravity of marketable tubers. Therefore, the use of a fertilizer more concentrated in P2O5 that favors smaller contributions of N and K (as the 6-30-6 formula studied in this work) provides lower costs, and greater operational efficiency and profits in relation to the 4-14-8 formula traditionally used for the potato crop.
