An estimation for the power line communications (PLC) for Bangladesh is made referring various technical research papers and current Journals. The aim of this study is to identify essential aspect of the power line communications for both domestic and outdoor application and the use of consumer communication when various possible services are developed worldwide commercially [1,9]. Possible services, bandwidth, service area, quality, reliability, and the cost are also taken into considerations. The signal in a transmission line is impaired by the presence of unwanted extraneous signals (noise and interference) on the line. The frequency dependent characteristics of the transmission line are also responsible to impair the transmission of signals along the lines. Noise and interference, with its presence tends to impede the reception of the desired signal and is usually the limiting factor in its detection. Noise is usually composed of randomly occurring voltages, which are unrelated in phase or frequency and may sometimes be of a very peak in nature. Interference on the other hand is usually more structured than noise since it arises as unwanted coupling from just a few signals in the network. In this paper a brief discussion of noise in a power line environment and need for power line communication in Bangladesh is presented as an essential tool for digital Bangladesh. PLC network has been identified as the ideal choice to function as the last mile network, deliver load management messages to smart meters. However, there is need to address the security concerns for load management messages delivered over power line communications. The ubiquitous nature of the power line communication infrastructure exposes load management systems (LMS) deployed over it to a security risk. Ordinarily, PLC network does not em- ploy any security measures on which the smart meters and data concentrators can depend on. Therefore, the need to provide a secure mechanism for communication of load man- agement system messages over a PLC network. In LMS, source authentication is of highest priority because we need to respond only to messages from an authenticated source. This is achieved by investigating suitable robust authentication protocols. In this paper we present modifications to Timed Efficient Stream Loss-tolerant Authentication for secure authentica- tion to secure messages for load management over PLC. We demonstrate that PLC can be used to securely and effectively deliver Load Management messages to smart meters, with minimal overhead. </span></p></div></div></div>

Power line communication, that is, using the electricity infrastructure for data transmission, is experiencing a renaissance in the context ofSmart Grid. Smart Grid objectives include the integration of intermittent renewable energy sources into the electricity supply chain, securing reliable electricity delivery, and using the existing electrical infrastructure more efficiently. This paper surveyspower line communications(PLCs) in the context of Smart Grid. The specificationsG3-PLC,PRIME,HomePlug Green PHY, andHomePlug AV2, and the standardsIEEE 1901/1901.2andITU-T G.hn/G.hnemare discussed.

This paper proposes a safety confirmation system consisting of a mat sensor and a power line communication device that can be installed in small-sized senior citizen welfare facilities without a nurse call and in ordinary households. The proposed system detects when a senior citizen attempts to get out of bed or leave a room, sending an alarm to the control room or a caregiver in another room. The power line communication enables such housing facilities to set up safety confirmation easily and inexpensively. The usefulness of this system has been verified by field examination in the senior citizen welfare facility.

In this paper, we address a channel estimation scheme for power line communication systems based on compressed sensing techniques. With the properly designed pilot symbols, the received signals at the receiver can be reconstructed from a set of random projections, benefiting from a reduced sampling rate. Moreover, we propose a novel channel estimation structure for PLC systems, which can be applied for appropriate system design. Eventually, simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other algorithms and reduces the sample rate significantly.

This paper presents a new application scheme of Broadband Power Line Communication (BPLC) in smart home. In this scheme the power line was chosen as “the last one meter connection”medium in order to reduce the length of the PLC link and improve the network property. In the newscheme, the power lines and PLC modem were used to construct the indoor Ethernet, and the home appliances were connected to this indoor LAN through the serial port/Ethernet network adapter as an Ethernet unit, then to access or control the home appliancesfrom the Internet through the home gateway, which is different from the common ones, is available. The new application scheme not only increases the management efficiency and reduce the cost of smart home, but also conquer the shortcomings of the traditional methods.
