Schools promote all-round education for each of their students. This requires teachers to work on all of the possibilities offered by a subject, including mathematical ability. This process of adjustment and individualization is essential for students who have excellent performance or aptitudes. This study uses an ex post facto, descriptive and quantitative research methodology to examine the results of giving the online version of the Evaluation Battery for Mathematical Ability (BECOMA On) to 3795 5th-year primary school students. The sample was selected from 147 Spanish schools from 16 autonomous regions and 2 autonomous municipalities. Three levels of performance were identified, 3 being the highest, and different statistical indices were calculated for each of them. The results were also analyzed according to sex, with statistically significant differences in the highest performance level. In addition, the study highlighted a diagnostic gap in the identification of higher capacity students, a pending challenge for education systems for the educational inclusion of all students.

As an effort to achieve the developmental tasks of primary school age children, they are expected to obtain the basics of knowledge that are considered important to successfully adapt to adult life, and learn various important skills. However, there were several aspects that inhibit the achievement of the developmental tasks, for instance, off-task behavior, in which students disengaged from the learning environment by performing unrelated behavior. The occurrence of off-task behavior phenomena in primary school students needs to be addressed. Therefore, this research aims at investigating the profile of off-task behavior in primary school students. This quantitative research was conducted using the instruments of off-task behavior. This research involved 25 fifth grade primary school students in one private primary school in South Jakarta. The research results revealed that there were 60% of the students who were categorized performing moderate rate of off-task behavior with motoric aspect was the highest rare (38.7%).

Numerous contributions corroborate the need to include emotional education and the development of emotional competencies at school to improve students’ school learning and well-being. The present study aims to learn more about the development of emotional competencies in primary school students, taking into account gender differences across different cycles and analyzing the potential link with students’ overall academic performance. Participants were 2389 primary school students (51.2% boys and 48.8% girls), aged from 6 to 12, from 21 public and semi-private schools in Spain. The study is a non-experimental quantitative study, using an ex-post-facto descriptive method. The Emotional Development Questionnaire (CDE 9-13), the Emotional Competencies Observation Scale, and the overall grade point average were applied to the sample. The results show significant differences in favor of girls in the development of most emotional competencies in all three educational cycles. Differences were also observed in academic performance by gender in the primary school cycle, with girls achieving higher grades. At the same time, positive correlations were found between academic performance and emotional competencies. The results confirm the importance of including emotional education in primary education.

The essays of primary school students were studied as a potential source of data about their creative capacities in the field of writing and, more extensively, in the domain of linguistic expression. Sixth and seventh grade students (N=142) wrote an essay the creativity of which was evaluated by three teachers. Based on teachers' evaluations, two extreme groups were formed, which were then mutually compared: the students who wrote creative stories (N=17) and those who did not (N=19). A mixed method approach was applied in analyzing the data about students and their essays. The quantitative research results indicate that the authors of creative stories are characterized by a considerably higher creative potential as measured by the Word Production Test and Urban-Jellen Drawing Test (TCT-DP), a better school achievement and greater knowledge in Serbian language, a wider range of interests and a more pronounced interest in language and humanities. Analysis of narratives of the two groups of stories reveals important differences between the creative and noncreative group in the format, themes and components of creative written expression. The following are perceived in the papers assessed as creative: good composition, existence of a title, a guiding idea, originality, emotional expressiveness and ethical dimension. In the concluding part the authors discuss the advantages of combining the quantitative and qualitative procedures in studying the creative potential in school context.

<p><em>This study aims to determine the influence of digital comics learning media on primary school students’ motivation in social studies. The method used in this research was experimental quantitative research. The subjects of this research were fourth grade students at MIT Fatahillah Depok, namely class IV A as control class and class IV B as experimental class, totaling 29 students for each class. The instruments used in this research were in the form of questionnaires and documentation. The data was validated using correlation product moment and to test the reliability used Cronbach Alpha. After the data was declared valid and reliable, it was continued with the calculation of the normality test using the Liliefors test and the homogeneity test using the Fisher test. The results of hypothesis testing in this study used the t test and obtained t<sub>count</sub> was 4.392 and t<sub>table</sub> was 1.673. Therefore, this study proves that there is an influence of using digital comics learning media on primary school students’ motivation in social studies.</em><em></em></p><p><strong>Keywords: </strong><em>Learning Media, Digital Comic, Motivation, Social Studies, Primary School.</em></p>


The aim of this study was to identify the factors associated with school refusal behavior in primary school students. Student’s self-report and teacher’s measures were implemented; and students were recruited from 20 primary schools in six districts in Selangor, Malaysia. The survey was conducted at the end of school term in 2016, with a total of 915 students from Year 4 and Year 5 participating. The sample of students had been absent from school for more than 15% of school days in the current year. Pearson correlation shows a significant relationship between academic achievement and school satisfaction toward school refusal behavior. The findings of this study suggest that academic difficulties and dissatisfaction towards school environment could be the important risk factors for school refusal behavior. The present study underscores the importance of early detection and intervention as measures to reduce school refusal. Finally, the findings imply that the role of school factors should always be taken into account in connection with school refusal behaviour.
