Pungency is an interesting sensory stimulus analyzed from different perspectives, in particular the underpinning mechanisms of its sensation and perception. In this study, grilled pork meat coated with three types of hot sauces were investigated regarding its main food oral processing characteristics and evaluated using time-intensity and temporal dominance of pungency sensations methods analyzing the pungency descriptors and intensities. Besides these methods, facial expressions obtained from video capturing were subject to emotion detection. Mastication parameters showed a slight, but not statistically significant, trend of an increased number of chews and consumption time associated with pungency intensity, while saliva incorporation indicated an increasing trend depending on the pungency intensity, especially after 25 strokes and before swallowing. Both time intensity and temporal dominance of pungency sensations showed that the complexity of understanding these sensations is in relation to intensity and type. Finally, the use of emotion detection software in analyzing the faces of panelists during mastication confirmed the increase in non-neutral emotions associated with the increase in pungency intensity.

AbstractAll aspects of daily life increasingly include digitization. So-called „smart home“ technologies, as well as „wearables“, are gaining attention from more and more dwellers. Therefore, sensor-based, individualized, AI-based services for improved post-intervention monitoring and therapy accompaniment will become feasible and possible if these systems offer a related context-awareness. This paper provides an approach on how to sense and interpret specific contexts with the help of wearables, smartwatches, smart home sensors, and emotion detection software.

In this article we present a case study concerning a simple but efficient technical and logistic concept for the realization of blended teaching of mathematics and its applications in theoretical mechanics that was conceived, tested and implemented at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) of the University of Trento, Italy, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The concept foresees traditional blackboard lectures with a reduced number of students physically present in the lecture hall, while the same lectures are simultaneously made available to the remaining students, who cannot be present, via high-quality low-bandwidth online streaming. The case study presented in this paper was implemented in a single University Department and was carried out with a total of n=1011 students and n=68 professors participating in the study. Based on our first key assumption that traditional blackboard lectures, including the gestures and the facial expressions of the professor, are even nowadays still a very efficient and highly appreciated means of teaching mathematics at the university, this paper deliberately does not want to propose a novel pedagogical concept of how to teach mathematics at the undergraduate level, but rather presents a technical concept of how to preserve the quality of traditional blackboard lectures even during the COVID-19 pandemic and how to make them available to the students at home via online streaming with adequate audio and video quality even at low internet bandwidth. The second key assumption of this paper is that the teaching of mathematics is a dynamic creative process that requires the physical presence of students in the lecture hall as audience so that the professor can instantaneously fine-tune the evolution of the lecture according to his/her perception of the level of attention and the facial expressions of the students. The third key assumption of this paper is that students need to have the possibility to interact with each other personally, especially in the first years at the university. We report on the necessary hardware, software and logistics, as well as on the perception of the proposed blended lectures by undergraduate students from civil and environmental engineering at the University of Trento, Italy, compared to traditional lectures and also compared to the pure online lectures that were needed as emergency measure at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The evaluation of the concept was carried out with the aid of quantitative internet bandwidth measurements, direct comparison of transmitted video signals and a careful analysis of ex ante and ex post online questionnaires sent to students and professors.

Accurate recognition of facial expressions and emotional gestures is promising to understand the audience's feedback and engagement on the entertainment content. Existing methods are primarily based on various cameras or wearable sensors, which either raise privacy concerns or demand extra devices. To this aim, we propose a novel ubiquitous sensing system based on the commodity microphone array --- SonicFace, which provides an accessible, unobtrusive, contact-free, and privacy-preserving solution to monitor the user's emotional expressions continuously without playing hearable sound. SonicFace utilizes a pair of speaker and microphone array to recognize various fine-grained facial expressions and emotional hand gestures by emitted ultrasound and received echoes. Based on a set of experimental evaluations, the accuracy of recognizing 6 common facial expressions and 4 emotional gestures can reach around 80%. Besides, the extensive system evaluations with distinct configurations and an extended real-life case study have demonstrated the robustness and generalizability of the proposed SonicFace system.

Facial emotion analysis is the basic idea to train the system to understand the different facial expressions of human beings. The Facial expressions are recorded by the use of camera which is attached to user device. Additionally this project will be helpful for the online marketing of the products as it can detect the facial expressions and sentiment of the person. It is the study of people sentiment, opinions and emotions. Sentiment analysis is the method by which information is taken from the facial expressions of people in regard to different situations. The main aim is to read the facial expressions of the human beings using a good resolution camera so that the machine can identify the human sentiments. Convolutional neural network is used as an existing system which is unsupervised neural network to replace that with a supervised mechanism which is called supervised neural network. It can be used in gaming sector, unlock smart phones, automated facial language translation etc.

Franchise is a business license from the franchisor to the franchisee. The franchise business industry continues to show an increasing trend every year. One of the food franchise businesses that has successfully developed and has outlets in various cities in Indonesia is ChiFry. ChiFry has been established since 2015 and now has 27 outlets throughout Indonesia. This study aims to determine the relationship strategy of the franchisor with the franchisee in the ChiFry food business, where ChiFry within 4 years succeeded in opening 25 franchise branches. The research is based on customer relations theory because the franchisee is a customer of the franchisor. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the case study method. The results of this study indicate that all elements of the relationship strategy at ChiFry such as commitment, communication, trust, respect, mutual understanding, confidentiality, and mutual exchange work well, thus encouraging customer satisfaction. This research also shows that when the franchisor meets aspects of customer satisfaction such as quality perception, perceived value, and handling complaints, it will create loyalty from the franchisee. Artificial intelligence systems to perceive human feeling have pulled in much research premium, and potential uses of such frameworks flourish, spreading over areas, for example, client mindful showcasing, health monitoring wellbeing observing, and genuinely shrewd robotic interfaces. Human are enthusiastic creatures and it assumes a significant job behind their thoughts and activity. In this way, it is important that emotion handling capacities are assimilated for planning of human condition. The investigation, recognition and synthesis of feelings can plan the human environment. In this procedure the data uses, for example, sound, visual, composed and mental data. An epic research theme to be developed in the Human Computer Interaction field is Emotion Recognition utilizing Facial Expressions.

Abstract The present study was undertaken with the databank of dissolved Pb and pH of the aquatic system in the East Kolkata Wetlands, an internationally unique Ramsar Site of Eastern India during a period of twenty years (2000-2019). Our study site is receiving huge amounts of domestic and industrial wastewater from surrounding areas of highly populated metropolitan city of Kolkata. The data on pH exhibits a decreasing trend with the passage of time, which may be attributed to the phenomenon of acidification in which CO2 dissolves with the water and shifts the pH to a lower value. This may result in the dissolution of accumulated Pb in the sediment and transfer the same to the overlying aquatic phase. The increasing trend of dissolved Pb confirms the hypothesis. The significant negative correlation between pH and dissolved Pb (r= -0.7763; p≤0.01) supports the view of the regulatory effect of pH on the dissolved Pb level in the aquatic systems of East Kolkata Wetland.
