AbstractThere is increasing evidence that microbial biofilms which form on the surface of marine plastics can increase plastics palatability, making it more attractive to organisms. The same information, however, does not exist for freshwater systems. This study observed the response of the freshwater amphipod Gammarus pulex when exposed to 3 cm-diameter discs of biofilm-covered plastic, both alone and when presented alongside its natural food. G. pulex did not fragment or consume the plastic materials, and the presence of colonised plastic in the immediate environment did not alter the amount of time organisms spent interacting with their natural food. This study provides baseline information for virgin and microbially colonised low-density polyethylene and polylactic acid film. Further studies, with other types of plastic possessing different physical properties and with different microbial biofilm compositions are now required to build further understanding of interactions between plastic, microbial biofilms, and freshwater shredding invertebrates.

Significant challenges exist when defining the usage spectra of helicopter components due to the wide range of missions and manoeuvres flown by helicopters in-service. Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) trajectories provide a means of constructing helicopter flight manoeuvre statistics across entire in-service fleets. This paper explores the feasibility of characterising helicopter manoeuvres by applying rule-based algorithms to ADS-B trajectories from a fleet of twin-seat training helicopters. Despite challenges relating to low-altitude ADS-B coverage, a comprehensive set of flight manoeuvre statistics was generated, which highlighted that significant variability exists in helicopter flight manoeuvre occurrences. The generated statistics can also support validation activities concerning design usage spectra assumptions.

Jesus College, a constituent college of the University of Oxford, was founded in 1571 by Elizabeth I. The college has benefitted from parish patronages, with the right of advowsons, which have assisted the college's development. By the middle of the nineteenth century, the college held twenty such advowsons, including a relationship with Llandysul parish in Ceredigion (Cardiganshire) that was established in 1680 and survived until 1944. This study uses the college archive to provide an initial investigation into the historical connections before and since 1680, so raising awareness of the historical link with Llandysul and providing a framework for future research.

This study aimed at identifying the legal nature of the activities of the employees of the Public Security Agency, as it is one of the official state departments in spreading security and maintaining public order, and reviewing the role of the public security personnel in administrative control, judicial seizure, preliminary investigation, dealing with juvenile cases, and investigation of new crimes such as human trafficking and electronic crimes. To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive analytical approach was used in addition to the legal method, as they are among the most appropriate scientific research methods for the purposes of this study. The study revealed a number of results, including that the Public Security Agency is an armed statutory body that the state bears the responsibility for establishing, organizing, spending on it and providing it with what is necessary to carry out its duties of maintaining security and order. To achieve this, the Public Security Agency follows a comprehensive security strategy whose dimensions are the preventive dimension, the social dimension, the human dimension, the ethical dimension, and the civilization dimension to achieve a set of goals. The study also revealed that one of the most important duties entrusted to the Jordanian public security personnel is consistent with the axes of the public security strategy, including the duties of the main force, administrative control, judicial control, and the original powers of public security personnel for the initial investigation, dealing with juvenile delinquent cases, and the initial investigation of crimes. New developments, such as human trafficking crimes, combating electronic crimes, and protecting intellectual property. In light of the results, a set of recommendations were set, including an emphasis on spreading legal awareness among public security personnel with regard to disciplinary responsibility, criminal responsibility, civil liability, the responsibility of the administrative apparatus entrusted to them during the performance of their duty, and the need to spread awareness among citizens and policemen as far as possible. Whether the role of the Public Security Agency is not limited to security performance, but also to provide service to citizens and society, and then the public interest requires concerted efforts from both parties together to achieve this interest.

The development of LKS based on guided inquiry on the material of biodiversity in class XII SMA. This type of research is research and development which refers to the development of a 4D model, namely the process of conducting an initial investigation then designing then validating and revising the results as well as conducting socialization so that a learning tool can be obtained that can be used as a guide in implementing appropriate learning. done by students.

Critical thinking is one aspect of thinking skills that have to be developed in the 4.0 century. Critical thinking has an important role in the learning process. Students with high critical thinking skills will make a high contribution in increasing mastery of concepts. Therefore, an initial investigation was carried out by interviewing biology teachers and giving questions to students of class XI science at SMA 12 Negeri Padang. It is known that critical thinking in students is still low. One of the causes is an inadequate module. Therefore, students need appropriate modules to improve critical thinking. This type of research is development research using the Ploompdevelopment model. The model stage consists of the initial investigation, prototyping, and assessment. The research data were obtained from validity, practicality, and effectiveness tests. The results showed that the biology module that was developed according to the expert review obtained a value of 87.70% very valid category. The results of the practicality test by the teacher obtained a value of 93.97% in the very practical category and the results of the practicality test by the students obtained a score of 86.67% in the very practical category. The results of the effectiveness test of the critical thinking aspect in six categories showed a significant increase in students' critical thinking based on the N-Gain test carried out on the respiratory system. While the excretory system results in the N-Gain value of the experimental class 0.36 medium category and controls 0.30 medium categories

This is the second part of the study that aims at highlighting twenty-four myths about fingerprint evidence. In this paper, the authors are going to explicate and clarify the difference between the scientific facts and the wrongful concepts that negatively affect the justice system and the effective usage of fingerprint evidence starting from the initial investigation at the crime scene until the final trial at the courtroom.

We examined hierarchical structural models of psychopathology in samples of (a) adults recruited online and screened based on psychopathology history ( N = 429) and (b) undergraduates ( N = 529) to inform classification of neurodevelopmental disorder (NDD)- and hypomania-relevant dimensions within the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP). Results differed across samples in some ways, but converged to indicate that some NDD- and hypomania-relevant dimensions aligned closely with different HiTOP spectra. For example, some hypomania-relevant dimensions (e.g., affective lability) overlapped strongly with the internalizing spectrum, whereas others (e.g., self-perceived charisma) were reverse-indicators of detachment. Examination of cross-sectional and prospective correlates for emergent factors also was informative in some ways. This included NDD-relevant and disinhibited externalizing dimensions associating robustly with treatment seeking history and recent experiences of distress. These results provide initial insights into classifying NDD- and hypomania-relevant dimensions within the HiTOP and indicate a need for future research in this area.
