Nut fasteners are produced by machines working around the clock. Companies generally operate with a run-to-failure or planned maintenance approach. Even with a planned maintenance schedule, however, undetected damage to the dies and non-die parts occurring between maintenance periods can cause considerable downtime and pervasive damage to the machine. To address this shortcoming, force data from the fourth and sixth dies of a six-die nut manufacturing machine were analysed using correlation to the best health condition on the force profile and on the force shock response spectrum profile. Fault features such as quality adjustments and damage to both die and non-die parts were detectable prior to required maintenance or machine failure. This detection was facilitated by the determination of health thresholds, whereby the force SRS profile generated a longer warning period prior to failure. The analytical approach could benefit the industry by identifying damage that would normally go undetected by operators, thereby reducing downtime, extending die life, enabling “as needed” maintenance, and optimising machine operation.

A hybrid simulation method is used to generate two group artificial ground motions that are compatible with the same acceleration response spectrum, same peak displacement and different peak ground velocity (PGV). The influences of PGV on the internal forces of subway station are studied. For the time histories with the same response spectrum and same peak displacement, the larger PGV of input motions may lead to the great plastic deformation of the soil, and then cause the larger internal forces for the most elements of subway station. The influence of PGV should be considered reasonably in determination of design ground motion parameters for underground structures.

In this paper, a three-dimensional shaking table test of three three-span subway station model is done. Three test seismic waves were selected in this experiment, which were applied to the model. Modal analysis of the structure was done, and the determination of the acceleration of the model structure was obtained. And the law of underground structures under earthquake damage was analysis. Soil surface acceleration process and its response spectrum and strain are obtained in the different amplitudes of ground motion input case. From experiment cracks in the emergence and development of the situation were observed, and which gives recommendations for the seismic design of underground structures.

This study aims to determine the machine maintenance schedule. We use the Simulated Annealing Algorithm. Fitness and reliability functions are functions that are used in the optimization process. Several weighting scenarios are done to see the unity of the function. The results of the scenario produce several alternative schedules. This algorithm is implemented on machines that have more than one sub-machine. This sub-machine is a smaller engine system part. This sub-machine also has one particular function. The results of the study show that the optimal engine maintenance period to use is six periods. There are five scheduling scenarios used in this problem. The resulting schedule can increase the value of reliability and can minimize costs.

Plant regeneration in vitro from virus-infected somatic tomato (<em>Lycopersicon</em> sp.) tissue was performed. Regeneration experiments were started after the determination of virus presence, using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, in leaves used as a source of explants. Leaf explants infected with selected strains of tomato mosaic <em>Tobamovirus</em> or cucumber mosaic <em>Cucumovirus</em> respectively, were cultured on a standarised MS agar medium to induce adventitious shoots, which were afterwards excised, rooted in vitro and cultured to plants. Explants were also screened for their ability to produce callus. Diverse effects of viral infection, ranging from stimulation to inhibition of callus formation and of morphogenesis rate, were observed. The health condition of the tissue proved to affect regeneration potential of <em>Lycopersicon esculentum</em>, whereas wild accesions did not react in that case so distinctly. In cultivated tomato was encountered the decline in competence to reproduce shoots adventitiously in infected tissue. There was also relationship between donor plant health condition and adventitious root formation in regenerated shoots. Experiments with short-term cultures of <em>L. esculenum</em> reveled also that a certain number of shoots regenerated from diseased tissue can be virus-free.

Since the raw signal collected from the sliding bearing is contaminated with background noise, and it is difficult to obtain high-precision results for the traditional methods due to the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Therefore, a stepwise intelligent diagnosis method based on statistical filter and stacked auto-encoder (SAE) that is established with several auto-encoders is proposed to identify several faults of sliding bearing in a rotor system. Firstly, the statistical filter is utilized to reduce the interference information for the different abnormal states and to increase the SNR. Secondly, the stepwise intelligent diagnosis based on SAE is performed to learn the useful fault features, and it can automatically complete the fault diagnosis which is contributed with the superiority binary classification to fully mine the relationship between the fault characteristics and the health condition of bearing. Finally, the diagnosis of the oil whirl and structural faults in a rotor system is cited as an example to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method. It can effectively illustrate the advantages of the stepwise diagnosis method to obtain the maximum diagnostic accuracy.

In this paper, a finite element (FE) and scaled-up experimental modal analysis are employed to estimate the natural frequencies of the baker’s yeast cells. It is apparent the mechanical properties of the living cells and particularly the natural frequencies are highly related to the health condition of cells, and therefore a comprehensive analysis is carried out to determine the natural frequencies of individual cells.
