Mining machinery and equipment used in modern mining are equipped with sensors and measurement systems at the stage of their production. Measuring devices are most often components of a control system or a machine performance monitoring system. In the case of headers, the primary task of these systems is to ensure safe operation and to monitor its correctness. It is customary to collect information in very large databases and analyze it when a failure occurs. Data mining methods allow for analysis to be made during the operation of machinery and mining equipment, thanks to which it is possible to determine not only their technical condition but also the causes of any changes that have occurred. The purpose of this work is to present a method for discovering missing information based on other available parameters, which facilitates the subsequent analysis of machine performance. The primary data used in this paper are the currents flowing through the windings of four header motors. In the method, the original reconstruction of the data layout was performed using the R language function, and then the analysis of the operating states of the header was performed based on these data. Based on the rules used and determined in the analysis, the percentage structure of machine operation states was obtained, which allows for additional reporting and verification of parts of the process.

This study aims to identify main facilities and determine the level of the main facilities utilization of Birea fish landing base, Pa'jukukang District, Bantaeng Regency. The research was conducted from May to July 2020. The method used in this research is a case study. Primary data was consisting of the length of the pier, the distance between ships, the length of time to moor, the length of the breakwater and the length of the trip, and the size and number of ships anchored, were collected through direct observation in the field. Meanwhile, secondary data such as catch production data, development of the number and types of fishing units, the size of the port pool area, and the depth of the waters were taken through the interviews method. The utilization rate of the main facilities utilization of Berea fish landing base are a pier utilization rate of 90.5%, a port pool of 72.5%, a land port 86%, and two meters of water depth are required. Based on the research results, it is found that the long pier is still possible to accommodate ships that are anchored, while the port pool and portland still meet the requirements, however, dredging is necessary for dredging the depth of the waters for shipping in and out of ships. The Earth, being the main object and operational basis for mining, is exposed to the greatest impact because of extracting minerals. Protection of elements of the biosphere, including subsoil, should provide for the provision of scientifically based and economically justified completeness and complexity of use. The article discusses the need to monitor the technical condition of mining equipment, as applied to assessing its technical condition and reducing energy consumption by this equipment. The dependence of energy consumption on vibration parameters and temperature of equipment surfaces is shown. The data of the results of vibration parameters monitoring are given. Criteria are given for estimating the energy efficiency of operation of process equipment and, accordingly, the influence of these parameters on the environment.

Cities are tackling their economic, social, and environmental challenges through smart city solutions. To demonstrate that these solutions achieve the desired impact, an indicator-based assessment system is needed. This chapter presents the process of developing CITYkeys performance measurement systems for target setting and monitoring. This European smart city indicator framework was developed by analyzing cities' needs, existing indicators, and gaps. The current research sets out to review several indicators, KPI, and performance measurements, along other indicator frameworks on the case studies involving the conceptualisation, development, and monitoring of smart cities in Lebanon and in Malta for comparative purposes. For this purpose, a mixed methods approach was adopted, whereby both interviews and structured surveys were used to collect primary data pertaining to the analyses of the respectively investigated smart cities.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish the logical consistency in the application of lean techniques to improve the DFS business processes and service delivery and to create logistical pinch-points that improved the logistics and physical distribution of goods from the GSC and RSC to Field Missions.Methodology: The study employed a qualitative research design. The study targeted all the senior managers at Director Levels at the GSC and the RSC and all the senior operational staff from supply chain and service delivery pillars in three (03) large Field Missions. These field missions are namely United Nations Stabilization Mission in Congo (MONUSCO); United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS); and the United Nations Support Office for AMISOM (UNSOA). This study used purposive sampling technique. The researcher purposively sampled fifteen (15) personnel; with three (03) participants each from the GSC, RSC, and three (03) participants each from the three (03) Field Mission. Primary data was obtained from the original sources using questionnaires and interview.Findings: The respondents indicated that the logical consistencies observed needed an understanding, through measurement, a reordering model that included lead time, reorder point, and safety stock.  The respondents also indicated that the consistencies observed mainly relates to the overall approach of being more customer oriented while trying to optimize business processes and workflows. However, the respondents indicated that there were limitations in how the various organizations diversely applied lean concepts. There was no clear guidance provided on areas requiring higher prioritization; consistency throughout the departments, divisions and, missions when changes are applied (i.e. in structures, and functional organizational units). Additionally, lean analyzes were conducted mainly by internal resources that may not have been completely objective on areas being investigated, therefore bringing bias and subjectivity. Internal resources using lean techniques may not have been complete. Finally, the respondents indicated that there is no clear guidance yet. Policies and training have to be provided to staff prior implementing lean techniques.Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study recommends that there is need to establish formal strategic plans to direct and align the work of the organization and supported by objectives and data-driven performance monitoring, analysis, and reporting. The study also recommends that there is a need for more efficient monitoring and evaluation of all GA resolutions and audit recommendations. The organization needs to monitor the manner of compliance with the provisions of the memorandums of understanding.

The digital technology that unites all services related to production, diagnostics of technical condition, maintenance and repair of mining equipment is based on the SAFE PLANT software package, which provides globality, scalability, versatility, integrability, modularity, distribution, and functionality. The article reflects the results of the implementation of the system at an industrial enterprise.

At present, Kuzbass coal strip mines pay great attention to improving quality performance of mining equipment operation, including reliability and durability of components and units. One of the ways of the performance improvement is decreasing number of unforeseen failures. To achieve this purpose a mine dump truck part diagnostics should be introduced into a maintenance service procedure. At the same time the process of diagnostics should not increase the machinery downtime, but effectively reveal a condition of motor-wheel gearboxes in the course of dump truck operation. The aim of the research is to increase the reliability and service life of motor-wheel gearboxes of large BelAZ dump trucks. Failure of a motor-wheel gearbox is a rare phenomenon, but the cost of a new gearbox can vary from 3.5 to 10 million rubles. That is why it is important to implement such methods of diagnostics, which allow revealing the condition of gearboxes in the shortest possible time and without disassembling corresponding units. Determination of the actual technical condition of motor-wheel gearboxes is possible by different methods: vibroacoustic; acoustic; thermal; physical and chemical analysis of spent operating materials. The studies showed that none of these methods can be used as a universal one. When justifying and selecting the most suitable method, different factors should be considered, including technological, or a combination of methods should be applied, which will reduce risks, but at the same time increase costs. It is necessary to develop a better diagnostic method based on the use of several methods simultaneously.

The development prospects of the mining industry are closely related to the state and development of modern mining machinery and equipment that meet the technical and quality requirements of mining enterprises. Enterprises are focused on a quantitative assessment – the volume of mineral extraction, depending on the functioning efficiency of a promising series of mining machines, which include modern mining excavators. Downtime and unplanned shutdowns of mining excavators directly depend on the operating conditions of the mining machine, which has negative influence on the machine as a whole and its technical condition, which entails a decrease in the efficiency of using expensive mining equipment and economic losses of the mining enterprise. The rationale for external factors that affect the operating time and technical condition of mining excavators is given. For a more detailed assessment of the influence of external influences on the efficiency of operation of mining machines, the influencing factors are divided into two groups: ergatic, directly related to human participation, and factors of a natural-technogenic nature, where human participation is minimized. It was revealed that factors of a natural-technogenic nature have the greatest influence. An algorithm is proposed for a comprehensive assessment of the technical condition and forecasting of operating time both in nominal and in real operating conditions, taking into account factors of a natural and technogenic nature. It is proposed, based on the developed program for planning and evaluating the life of a mining excavator, to adjust the schedules for maintenance and repair (MOT and R) in order to minimize the number of unplanned downtime of a mining excavator and maintain it in good condition.
