In this study, we examined the biomagnetic flow and heat transfer of an incompressible electrically conductive fluid (blood) containing gold nanoparticles over a stretching sheet in the presence of a magnetic dipole. In this problem, both principles of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and ferrohydrodynamics (FHD) were adopted. Biot number and slip and suction parameters were taken into consideration. The nonlinear partial differential equations were transformed into ordinary differential equations by implementing similarity transformations. The numerical solution was attained by utilizing the bvp4c function technique in MATLAB R2018b software. The influence of pertinent parameters involved in this model, such as ferromagnetic parameter, magnetic field parameter, Grashof number, Eckert number, suction parameter, Biot number, slip parameter and Prandtl number, on the dimensionless velocity, temperature, skin friction and heat transfer rate were analyzed numerically and are represented graphically. Among the numerous results, it was observed that increment in ferromagnetic parameter and Prandtl number results in decrement of the velocity and temperature, respectively. For some values of the parameters, a comparison with the results of other documents in the literature is also made.

AbstractA non-linear analysis has been made to study the unsteady hydromagnetic boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a micropolar fluid over a stretching sheet embedded in a porous medium. The effects of thermal radiation in the boundary layer flow over a stretching sheet have also been investigated. The system of governing partial differential equations in the boundary layer have reduced to a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations using a suitable similarity transformation. The resulting non-linear coupled ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by using an implicit finite difference scheme. The numerical results concern with the axial velocity, micro-rotation component and temperature profiles as well as local skin-friction coefficient and the rate of heat transfer at the sheet. The study reveals that the unsteady parameter S has an increasing effect on the flow and heat transfer characteristics.

The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stagnation point flow over a shrinking or stretching flat sheet is investigated. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are reduced into a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by a similarity transformation and are solved numerically with the help of MATLAB software. The numerical results obtained are for different values of the magnetic parameter M, heat generation parameter Q, Prandtl number Pr and reciprocal of magnetic Prandtl number ε. The influences of these parameters on the flow and heat transfer characteristics are investigated and shown in tables and graphs. Two solutions are found for a certain rate of the shrinking strength. The stability of the solutions in the long run is determined, and shows that only one of them is stable. It is found that the skin friction coefficient f ″ ( 0 ) and the local Nusselt number − θ ′ ( 0 ) decrease as the magnetic parameter M increases. Further, the local Nusselt number increases as the heat generation increases.

This article explores the impact of a magnetic dipole on the heat transfer phenomena of different nano-particles Fe (ferromagnetic) and Fe3O4 (Ferrimagnetic) dispersed in a base fluid ( 60 % water + 40 % ethylene glycol) on micro-polar fluid flow over a stretching sheet. A magnetic dipole in the presence of the ferrities of nano-particles plays an important role in controlling the thermal and momentum boundary layers. The use of magnetic nano-particles is to control the flow and heat transfer process through an external magnetic field. The governing system of partial differential equations is transformed into a system of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations by using appropriate similarity variables, and the transformed equations are then solved numerically by using a variational finite element method. The impact of different physical parameters on the velocity, the temperature, the Nusselt number, and the skin friction coefficient is shown. The velocity profile decreases in the order Fe (ferromagnetic fluid) and Fe3O4 (ferrimagnetic fluid). Furthermore, it was observed that the Nusselt number is decreasing with the increasing values of boundary parameter ( δ ) , while there is controversy with respect to the increasing values of radiation parameter ( N ) . Additionally, it was observed that the ferromagnetic case gained maximum thermal conductivity, as compared to ferrimagnetic case. In the end, the convergence of the finite element solution was observed; the calculations were found by reducing the mesh size.

The focus of the present paper is to analyze the shape effect of gold (Au) nanoparticles on squeezing nanofluid flow and heat transfer between parallel plates. The different shapes of nanoparticles, namely, column, sphere, hexahedron, tetrahedron, and lamina, have been examined using water as base fluid. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are transformed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by suitable transformations. As a result, nonlinear boundary value ordinary differential equations are tackled analytically using the homotopy analysis method (HAM) and convergence of the series solution is ensured. The effects of various parameters such as solid volume fraction, thermal radiation, Reynolds number, magnetic field, Eckert number, suction parameter, and shape factor on velocity and temperature profiles are plotted in graphical form. For various values of involved parameters, Nusselt number is analyzed in graphical form. The obtained results demonstrate that the rate of heat transfer is maximum for lamina shape nanoparticles and the sphere shape of nanoparticles has performed a considerable role in temperature distribution as compared to other shapes of nanoparticles.

An analysis has been carried out to study the flow and heat transfer in a liquid film over a permeable stretching sheet. Using similarity transformations, the time-dependent boundary layer equations are reduced to a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The resulting parameter problem and velocity as well as temperature fields are solved using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Analytic series solutions are given, and numerical results for velocity and the temperature profiles are presented through graphs of different values for pertinent parameter. The effects of unsteadiness parameter and permeability parameter on the velocity and temperature profiles are explored for different values of blowing or suction parameter.

The steady three-dimensional stagnation-point flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid toward a stretching sheet is investigated by using similarity solution approach. The freestream along z-direction impinges on the stretching sheet to produce a flow with different velocity components. The governing equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations by introducing appropriate similarity variables and an exact solution is obtained. The nonlinear ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using Runge–Kutta fourth-order method. The effects of the physical parameters like velocity ratio, fluid and thermal particle interaction parameter, ratio of freestream velocity parameter to stretching sheet velocity parameter, Prandtl number, and Eckert number on the flow field and heat transfer characteristics are obtained, illustrated graphically, and discussed. Also, a comparison of the obtained numerical results is made with two-dimensional cases existing in the literature and good agreement is approved. Moreover, it is found that the heat transfer coefficient and shear stress on the surface for axisymmetric case are larger than nonaxisymmetric case. Also, for stationary flat plat case, a similarity solution is presented and a comparison of the obtained results is made with previously published results and full agreement is reported.

An Analysis has been carried out to study the boundary layer flow and heat transfer characteristics of second order fluid and second grade fluid with variable thermal conductivity and radiation over an exponentially stretching sheet in porous medium. The basic boundary layer equations governing the flow and heat transfer in prescribed surface temperature (PST) and prescribed heat flux (PHF) cases are in the form of partial differential equations. These equations are converted to non-linear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformations. Numerical solutions of the resulting boundary value problem are solved by using the fourth order Runge-Kutta method with shooting technique for various values of the physical parameters. The effect of variable thermal conductivity, porosity, Prandtl number, radiation parameter and viscoelastic parameters on velocity and temperature profiles (in PST and PHF cases) are analyzed and discussed through graphs. Numerical values of wall temperature gradient in PST case and wall temperature in PHF case are obtained and tabulated for various values of the governing parameters. In this study Prandtl number also treated as variable inside the boundary layer because it depends on thermal conductivity. The results are also verified by using finite difference method.

This paper examines the effects of thermocapillarity and thermal radiation on the boundary layer flow and heat transfer in a thin film on an unsteady stretching sheet with nonuniform heat source/sink. The governing partial differential equations are converted into ordinary differential equations by a similarity transformation and then are solved by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The effects of the radiation parameter, the thermocapillarity number, and the temperature-dependent parameter in this study are discussed and presented graphically via velocity and temperature profiles.
