Online healthcare services are growing rapidly. Patients can receive health support through communication with online health professionals. However, previous research on eHealth has focused on patients’ online behavioral intentions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of online patient–doctor communication on offline behavioral intentions and to propose a conceptual model for eHealth. We integrate fairness theory and band extension theory to develop a research model. This is further tested by structural equation modeling (SEM), with 279 valid sets of data from patients on the online health platform. Using partial least squares analysis (PLS), the results show that perceived fairness is an important factor affecting online satisfaction and the willingness to ask online doctors, which in turn has a positive impact on the willingness to go to offline doctors. These findings shed light on the research model for eHealth and offer suggestions for improving patients’ online satisfaction, as well as both online and offline behavioral intentions.

This study is focused on communications that come from consumer-to-consumer (C2C) ecommerce relationships. This topic is directly associated with the electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) phenomenon. eWOM is related to the set of positive or negative opinions made by potential, actual, or former customers about a seller. The present study proposes a structural equation modeling with partial least squares (PLS-SEM) research model to analyze consumers’ opinions impact on attitude toward purchasing. This model is based on the Information Adoption Model (IAM) in combination with an ecommerce satisfaction perspective, comprising five constructs: (1) service quality, (2) ecommerce satisfaction, (3) argument quality, (4) source credibility and (5) purchase intention. The model was tested by applying the Smart Partial Least Squares (SmartPLS) software for which 116 effective data from customers of the Taobao C2C platform were used. The findings reveal that all of the defined relationships were supported, confirming the positive impact of all the proposed constructs on the purchase intention. In this respect, the findings suggest that C2C platforms should strengthen the analyzed connections to grow the business and to promote transactions. Finally, implications and limitations related to the explanatory capacity and the sample are identified.

This study aims to investigate interrelationships among perceived service fairness, emotions, and behavioral intentions in a fast food chain restaurant context. we use terms that are commonly use on the study of fairness or justice perception. This study uses purposive sampling and the survey method to generate our sample which consists of 800 respondents from big cities in Indonesia, namely: Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar. The data are analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show different roles for each fairness perception in relation to peoples’ emotions and behavioral intentions, based on the Mehrabian-Russel model. Three fairness variables (price fairness, outcome fairness and interactional fairness) have positive and significant effects on customers’ positive emotions, while, procedural fairness does not influence the formation of a positive emotion. Furthermore, a positive emotion has a positive influence on a customer’s behavioral intention. Data collected in this study are limited to the context of the restaurant industry, therefore, precaution must be taken when generalizing these results to other industries. The results of this study can serve as guidelines for managers in the restaurant industry to develop effective and efficient strategies for ensuring their services’ perceived fairness and its impact on both customers’ retention rates and the companies’ financial gains.

The phenomenon of tourism commercialization in the context of China has transcended the research scope for Western commodification and has become a special topic for destination research, particularly in ethnic minority villages in China. Limited research has as yet drawn attention to the relationship between commercialization and experience quality. The main purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of tourism commercialization on tourists’ experience quality. Specifically, the study examines the interrelationships between five main constructs: tourism commercialization, perceived value, experience quality, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. Using a sample drawn from the Xijiang Miao Village in China, a structural equation modeling approach is applied in the research model investigating 10 hypotheses. The results show that tourism commercialization has a positive influence on tourists’ experience quality and an indirect effect on others constructs, the implications are discussed with reference to the future development of tourism in the ethnic minority villages.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the utilitarian value (UV), hedonic value (HV) and social value (SV) that make people use a certain type of online media website and how the usage of specific online media website impact the way people perceive online information credibility (OIC). A research model was also proposed to explain the essence of this study. Design/methodology/approach This study adopted the survey research methodology to empirically test the research model with 873 research participants from the University of Science and Technology of China and Anhui Medical University. Findings Results from structural equation modeling showed that UV and HV have a significant positive impact on the usage of print news media website (PNMW), usage of broadcast news media website (BNMW) and usage of social networking website (SNW). The SV was also found to have a significant positive impact on the usage of SNWs. The result also indicated that the usage of the PNMW and the usage of the BNMW by online users have a significantly positive impact on high rating of OIC. However, the result showed that the usage of SNW does not have a significant positive impact on the high rating of OIC. Originality/value Findings in this study provided substantial contributions toward the advancement of the uses and gratification theoretical framework by unraveling how certain motivational values can influence online media users’ preferences for specific online media websites, as well as showing how specific online media websites affect online users’ perception of OIC.

The study aims to examine the direct impact of social capital on the employment and income of workers. The research model is built based on Granovetter’s theory of the strength of weak-ties relationships, Putnam’s social capital theory, and the results of some related previous studies. The study used secondary data collected from 1,197 workers in the Dong Thap Muoi region of Long An province. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to analyze the data. The results show that social capital has a positive impact on the employment and income of workers, in which the trust factor has the most substantial influence. From the research results, some recommendations are proposed to increase work efficiency and increase employee income.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to reveal the relationship between personality traits, travel motivations, perceived destination quality, overall destination satisfaction and behavioral intentions of domestic tourists. Design/methodology/approach The quantitative research method was used in the study. A survey technique was used to collect data. Data were applied to incoming domestic tourist to Gaziantep and Sanliurfa cities in Southeast Anatolia of Turkey. The data obtained were analyzed by structural equation modeling. Findings The study showed that personal traits “agreeableness” and “conscientiousness” positively affect relaxation motivation. Cultural and relaxation motivations had a positive impact on satisfaction, whereas pleasure-seeking motivation has a negative impact on satisfaction. In addition, overall destination satisfaction is positively affected by destination quality perceptions and affects loyalty in a positive way. Research limitations/implications During the literature review phase, no scale was found according to different destination characteristics (cultural, nature and sea destinations). In this regard, developing new scales to measure destination quality in accordance with different destination types would allow comprehending the subject in a more clear and detailed way. Practical implications The establishment of relationship between variable examined by this study ensures that product and services provided by the destination reach the correct target audience, which brings along the success to destination. For instance, destination management organizations could get information from travel agencies they work with about the characteristics, and motivations of tourists, and could develop their strategies, and plans, accordingly. Originality/value This study has three important contributions. First, revealing the role of personality in tourist behavior; second, their behaviors and attitude before (motivation and personality) during (destination quality and satisfaction) and after visiting (behavioral intentions) were examined; and third, personality, travel motivation, destination quality and satisfaction are discussed together as a model in this study.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate what factors can affect people’s continuous watching and consumption intentions in live streaming. Design/methodology/approach This research conducted a mixed-methods study. The semi-structured interview was deployed to develop a research model and a live streaming typology. A survey was then used for quantitative assessment of the research model. Survey data were analyzed using partial least squares-structural equation modeling. Findings The results suggest that sex and humor appeals, social status display and interactivity play considerable roles in the viewer’s behavioral intentions in live streaming and their effects vary across different live streaming types. Research limitations/implications This research is conducted in the Chinese context. Future research can test the research model in other cultural contexts. This study can also be extended by incorporating the roles of viewer gender and price sensitivity in the future. Practical implications This study provides managerial insights into how live streaming platforms and streamers can improve their popularity and profitability. Originality/value The paper introduces a novel form of social media and a new business model. It illustrates what will affect people’s behavioral intentions in such a new context.

The current study sought to extend the literature on antecedents of the green behavioral intentions of hotel guests in a developing country context. Building on the theory of planned behavior and moral norm-activation theory, antecedents of the green behavioral intentions of hotel guests were proposed and tested using a developing country as a field of study. Data were collected from 203 hotel guests, and the proposed model was analyzed using a structural equation modeling technique. The results showed that altruism helps in developing positive attitudes, and these attitudes have a significant influence on hotel guests’ green behavioral intentions. Similarly, cognitive aspects, including quality attributes and value for money, also play a role in developing positive intentions for willingness to pay more and revisit intentions. Inconvenience has a significant negative impact on revisit intentions, and quality attributes have a significant positive impact on willingness to pay more.

The rising trend of people dining out has made food waste in restaurants become a significant issue because of sustainability. Consumers’ attitudes toward food waste in restaurants are still undergoing scrutiny. The main purpose of this study was to test the relationships among consumers’ attitudes, social norms, behavioral intentions, and plate waste behaviors in restaurants in Taiwan. This paper contributes to the understanding of consumers’ food waste behaviors by examining a hypothesized research model. Based on a questionnaire with 464 restaurant customers, the hypothesized research model was examined by using structural equation modeling. Sequential mediation for examining the relationships of variables was conducted, and it was found that there was a significant serial mediation effect on the path of consumers’ attitudes, behavioral intentions, food waste behavior, and consumer plate waste. The results of this study can contribute to better engaging consumers in mitigating food waste in restaurants. Implications and suggestions for further research and recommendations for restaurant managers are provided based on sustainable management.

Purpose Despite recognizing the importance of eReferral in shaping tourists’ behavioral intentions, researchers have rarely explored its dynamics. In the recent years, interest in the superiority of interactive eReferral over eWOM has burgeoned, thus increasing theoretical and empirical quest, which has generated many inconsistencies. Drawing on social identity, trust transfer and social tie theories, the purpose of this paper is to explore an integrative model that investigates the impact of interactive eReferral on tourists’ engagement, eReferral sharing behavior and intention to visit. Besides the direct influences of interactive eReferral on tourists’ engagement, eReferral sharing behavior and intention to visit, the authors assess the mediating role of tourist engagement on the relationship between these concepts. Design/methodology/approach Utilizing survey data, variance-based structural equation modeling (VB-SEM) was applied to diagnose the proposed model. Findings VB-SEM results suggest that interactive eReferral has a positive impact on tourist engagement, eReferral sharing behavior and intention to visit. Tourist engagement mediates the link between interactive eReferral and eReferral sharing behavior, and intention to visit. Originality/value By examining the relationship between interactive eReferral, tourists’ engagement, eReferral sharing behavior and intention to visit, the model departs from existing views to shed new light on the interactivity of eReferral. Implications for marketing practices and research are discussed.
