The use of digital information and communication technologies (ICTs) has enabled many professionals to continue to provide their services during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, little is known about the adoption of ICTs by psychologists and the impact of such technologies on their practice. This study aimed to explore psychologists’ practices related with the use of ICTs before and during the COVID-19 lockdown, to identify the main changes that the pandemic has brought and the impact that such changes have had on their practice with clients, and also identify the factors that potentially have affected such changes. The Portuguese Psychologists Association announced the study, and 108 psychologists responded to an online survey during the mandatory lockdown. The results showed that these professionals continued to provide their services due to having adopted ICTs. Comparing with face-to-face interventions, psychologists recognized that additional precautions/knowledge were needed to use such technologies. Despite the challenges identified, they described the experience with the use of ICTs as positive, meeting clients’ adherence, and yielding positive results. Psychologists with the most years of professional experience maintained their services the most, but those with average experience showed the most favorable attitudes toward the use of technologies and web-based interventions.

Recent workplace studies claim that the latest advancements in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and flexible work arrangements have enabled alternative ways of working that can now provide a wider scope of interactivity across geographic distances, a scope that would have once restricted interaction among groups, if not prohibited it altogether. Such claim has challenged the conventional understanding which asserts that proximity among firms provides crucial face-to-face interaction in the inter-organisation collaboration. It is, however, debatable that the acceptance of the alternative workplace depends on the nature of the work, context, and culture of the organisation or nation. Therefore, this research examines the extent to which traditional locational assumptions and the proclaimed transformations performed in a developing country, such as Malaysia. The aim is to investigate the impact of university location – in terms of the characteristics of place and distance between places – to users’ face-to-face, and ICT interactions in the collaborations. This research analysed a structured interview conducted with 32 academic staffs in two universities, and 25 scientists and engineers in 15 research organisations. The findings showed that face-to-face interaction has strong relationship with distance, and the impact of telecommunication technology in replacing face-to-face interaction is rather small. The purpose of this paper is to make a systematic review of the literature on role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in sustainability of the Base of the Pyramid (BOP) markets by studying the impact of ICT on innovation development at BOP. BOP markets are those segments of the global markets that have an income of about two to four dollars or less and are untapped fortunes for the business (Prahalad, 2002). BOP is fraught with dearth of infrastructure and resources which makes it hard for business firms to work out viable and sustainable strategies as the separations between the producers and end users are much wider in these markets compared with developed markets. Use of ICT helps reduce these separations by developing shared innovations with the people at BOP. Systematic literature review approach has been adopted to analyze the peer-reviewed journals for the period 2000 to 2019 using Google Scholar and Science Direct. BOP, ICT and Shared Innovations were the key words used in this search. Our findings suggest that ICT has significant role in development of shared innovations at the BOP markets as it bridges the physical market separation with its internet and web-based networks. This research has implications for busines managers, as it will guide them in making viable and sustainable strategies to run their businesses in these huge un-tapped markets.

The article highlights the issues of organization and functioning of logistics of online trade in the context of globalization of economic relations based on the introduction of modern digital information and communication technologies. The influence of digital economy on the changes in the forms of trade operations and the peculiarities of their organization in the Internet is studied. The differences between online and offline trading are estimated, as a result of which there is a propensity and loyalty of consumers to online purchases. The essence of logistics of online trade and features of its formation with the use of elements of virtual relationships with customers and suppliers are revealed. The article uses statistical data on the development of information and communication technologies in enterprises of Ukraine and open data of EU statistics for the period 2014-2018. The economic analysis of indicators of access to the Internet, e-Commerce operations and logistics for the service of electronic orders at the enterprises of Ukraine and the European Union allowed to determine the main trends that have developed in the digitalization of logistics of online trade and to assess the impact of digital platforms on global changes in trade.

This study analyzed the current situation of education in the context of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. The worldwide health emergency situation has caused the confinement of people and with it, the closure of centers and the transfer of face-to-face education to online education. Faced with these facts, teachers have had to adapt at a dizzying pace not only to new methodological approaches, but also to their own confinement, presenting high levels of stress. The purpose of this study is to offer a proposal that optimizes the work of education professionals in the current context of a pandemic through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) under the novel approach of the contributions of neuroeducation in the field of managing emotions and motivational processes, contributing to meaningful learning in students. The symbiosis of ICT and neuroeducation can make a great contribution to the paradigm shift that is taking place today.

Abstract:Many scholars have concluded, perhaps prematurely, that information and communication technologies (ICTs) are inherently empowering for Africans. In order to look more closely at the impact of ICTs on relationships and society, this article focuses on everyday life. Specifically, it uses ethnographic methods and the theory of “affordances” to illuminate the use of cell phones among Bulsa of Ghana’s Upper East Region. While cell phones help users connect with distant loved ones, they also plant seeds of alienation between users and those who remain physically present. These changes are evident in new body habits and in social behaviors that would be culturally unacceptable in face-to-face interactions but are largely excused in the interventions of the virtual world.

The impact of “e-business” on the public sector is the main source of the government’s transformation towards “e-government,” which refers to the public sector’s efforts to use information and communication technologies (ICT) to deliver government services and information to the public. E-government allows citizens to interact more directly with the government, transforming multiple operational and bureaucratic procedures and employing a customer-centric approach to service delivery; it allows intra-governmental communication; it also offers numerous possibilities for using the Internet and other Web-based technologies to extend online government services (Gant, Gant & Johnson, 2002). Governments evaluate the best practices of e-business applications worldwide and establish policies for the development of e-government applications. The aim of this strategy is to develop and provide faster and cheaper public services and contribute decisively to the new knowledgebased economy. The visions, goals, and policies that encompass e-government vary considerably among practitioners and users, while comparative indicators may not always be precise (U.N., 2001). As e-government consists of various aspects, perspectives and objectives there is not only one valid way for assessing its progress. A number of different methodologies for collecting and analyzing data have been applied to different reviews, depending on their evaluation objectives. The primary goal of the present study is to evaluate e-government services in Greece with a set of carefully chosen criteria, in a manner that can be used for evaluating e-government services world-wide.

Information and communication technologies offer us new possibilities to improve the way we develop our work as educators and give our students new opportunities to relate with us and other stakeholders in the process of learning. In higher education we can differentiate three different teaching styles, the traditional one, with the need of the presence of the students and the teacher in a classical classroom, the distance teaching style that substitutes the personal interaction in the class between student and professor with a distance relation based in different materials, and the virtual style, in which a permanent relation between students and lectures is established via a network. Some past analysis have tried to measure theimportance and variables that have an impact in the implementation of information and communication technologies and the final results achieved for each of the different styles. In this chapter, we try to study the variables that have a greater impact in the IT implementation and final success and try to integrate all them in a model. Future studies should try to contrast the presented model in the three main mentioned university styles.

The report presents the author’s experience in integrating modern ICT technologies in the process of teaching and learning in school. The emphasis is on the use of mobile devices and the integration of cloud technologies in schools. As an ICT teacher, the author provides some practical guidelines on how to apply innovation. The generation of 7 screens does not know a world without digital technologies and mobile communications. The discrepancy between the expectations of the digital generation and the reality in our schools is in terms of the information and communication technologies (ICT) used in them and the didactic models. Adolescents, when they find themselves in an environment that does not meet their expectations, are demotivated and redirect their attention to other objects and goals and stop being active in class. The use of the so-called. „Cloud“ technologies will significantly increase the interest and retention of students. The modern approach to building information systems is focused on developing solutions in which the collection, input and output of information is carried out through WEB-based applications or platforms.

The impact and benefit that information and communication technologies (ICT) have in the educational field require new teaching skills. This fact has been increased by the recent crisis caused by COVID-19. This study tries to investigate the level of digital teaching competence (DTC) of Higher Education teachers of Health Sciences, and its relationship with several variables. For this, it has the participation of 300 teachers from the 9 universities of Andalusia (Spain). The research is structured through a descriptive (RQ1) and inferential (RQ2) design. The answers given to the DigCompEdu Check-In questionnaire adapted to the Spanish context are analyzed. The results, which show high levels of reliability of the questionnaire (Cronbach and McDonald) and validity (CFA), indicate that the level of competence is basic-intermediate. In addition, the area in which teachers excel is digital resources. For this reason, it is proposed to structure personalized training plans and continue expanding the characteristics of this study at an international level.
