The application of different evaluation approaches in logistics requires considering many factors with different significance for making the final decision. Multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods are often applied in logistics to create different strategies and evaluations. In this paper, research has been carried out in a transport system of an international transport company. An MCDM model has been created for the purpose of human resource evaluation, on which the overall efficiency of the company depends. A total of 23 drivers were evaluated on the basis of five crucial criteria in order to increase employees’ motivation through their periodic remuneration. The Full Consistency Method (FUCOM) was applied to determine the significance of the criteria, while the evaluation of potential solutions was performed using Measurement Alternatives and Ranking according to COmpromise Solution (MARCOS). After the results had been obtained, the created model was validated throughout comparisons with seven other MCDM methods.

In this study, a knowledge-based system has been developed for selection of non-conventional machining processes using a hybrid multi-criteria decision making Method. This approach is a combination ofDEMATEL(Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory),ANP(Analytic Network Process) andVIKOR(VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje, in Serbian, meaning Multi-criteria Optimization and Compromise Solution) methods which evaluates different types of quantitative and qualitative measures of performance and economic factors, and ultimately provides a set of capable processes in order of priority. Twelve machining processes, eight group of workpiece material and eighteen shape features have been investigated in this study. What separates this approach from others is that, this hybrid method considers the influence of factors in the network relation map as well as their relative importance. Moreover, unlike other popular ranking methods such as TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to the Ideal Solution), it is not just based on two reference points, namely ideal and inferior points; instead, it proposes a compromise solution and not just a single ranking score. Observations have shown that the developed system works satisfactorily, yields acceptable results and makes accurate decisions as well. It also provides a comparative study among the alternative processes by utilizing graphical features for better analysis and judgment of acceptable alternatives.

Multi criteria decision making (MDCM) methods are amongst the approaches available in aiding composite designers to make the final decision especially during the material selection process where multiple solutions are present and various requirements are required to be satisfied simultaneously. Thus, in this paper, material selection process of thermoplastic matrix using MDCM methods for hybrid natural fiber/glass fiber polymer composites is presented. The aim is to identify the most suitable type of thermoplastic matrix to be used in the hybrid polymer composites formulation. The Weighted Sum Method (WSM) is applied in the selection process of seven candidate thermoplastic matrix materials based on the product design specifications. The overall analysis highlights that low density polyethylene (LDPE) is the preferred matrix for the intended application based on the highest scores obtained compared to other candidate materials. A signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio analysis was further performed to validate the initial selection results where LDPE once again outperformed other candidate materials with highest S/N ratio score in the non-compensatory approach.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is the application of a tool to assist the multi-criteria decision-making process for selecting an asset for a company in the metallurgical industry which manufactures metal parts for diverse industries. Design/methodology/approach – This investment, complex due to the commitment of resources it requires, has been made with the assistance of decision-making methodologies, specifically versions I and IV of the ELECTRE method. Findings – This model of multi-criteria decision making has been chosen over other models because it offers the possibility of including technical and economic decisions so they can be analyzed simultaneously, therefore the decision is not based solely on financial aspects. Many companies base their decisions exclusively on financial returns, however in this case it is also appropriate to include the technical parameters, since the asset being replaced is the most important asset of the company. Originality/value – Applying version I of the methodology, the optimal technical configuration of the asset will be analyzed based on the features requirements, all of which are among options available in the market. Once a subset of technically and economically viable alternatives has been defined, version IV will be applied and a ranking of the alternatives from the best to the worst will be obtained and, based on this ranking, the final decision will be made.

Education has a very decisive role, not only for the development and manifestation of individuals but also for the development of a nation and a state. The progress of a culture depends on how that culture recognizes, appreciates, and uses its human resources. This is closely related to the quality of education provided to members of the community. The word decision means choice, namely the choice of two or more possibilities. Decision making is hardly a choice between right and wrong but what often happens is a choice between "almost right" and "maybe wrong". Decision making in an organization is the result of a continuous process of communication and participation from the entire organization. The results of these decisions can be statements that are agreed between alternatives or between procedures to achieve certain goals. However, to be able to determine the best decision, there are several methods that can be used to build a decision support system, one of which is Promethee. The promethee method is included in the Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) group solving or multiple criteria decision making which is a discipline that is very important in making decisions on a problem that has more than one criterion (multicriteria).

Both within the formation field and the labor market Multi-Criteria Decision Methods (MCDM) provide a significant support to the management of human resources in which the best choice among several alternatives can be very complex. This contribution addresses fuzzy logic in multi-criteria decision techniques since they have several applications in the management of human resources with the advantage of ruling out mistakes due to the subjectivity of the person in charge of making a choice. Evaluating educational achievements as well as the professional profile of a technician more suitable for a job in a firm, industry or a professional office are valuable examples of fuzzy logic. For all of the previous issues subjectivity is a fundamental aspect so that fuzzy logic, due to the very meaning of the word fuzzy, should be the preferred choice. However, this is not sufficient to justify its use; fuzzy technique has to make the system of evaluation and choice more effective and objective. The methodological structure of the multi-criteria fuzzy criterion is hierarchic and allows one to select the best alternatives in all those cases in which several alternatives are possible; thus, the optimal choice can be achieved by analyzing the different scopes of each criterion and sub-criterion as well as the relevant weights.

Organizational culture has attracted attention in research, as it affects not only the performance of employees, but also the overall efficiency and sustainability of the entire organization. An analysis of the organizational culture in textile companies is a problem that can be solved using the multi-criteria decision-making method (MCDM). The interest in analyzing organizational culture comes from the fact that culture influences the behavior of members of the organization, decision-making and the setting of strategic goals. Companies can confront the challenges in nowdays by choosing a strong and stable organizational culture. An approach based on the AHP method is proposed to solve this complex problem in this paper. The AHP method is convinient for organizational culture analysing by Hofsted’s dimensions of national culture and determining the severity of the criteria. The usability and effectiveness of the AHP approach has been considered in the empirical application of the proposed method for selecting an organizational culture in textile companies in Serbia.
