Compacted polyaniline (PANI)/Layered silicate nanocomposites have been successfully prepared by simple in situ, core-shell, and ex situ polymerization routes using AnHCl as a predecessor through chemical oxidation method. The structure, chemical groups, electronic transition and properties were investigated by XRD, SEM, HRTEM, UV Visible, DC electrical conductivity, TGA, and DSC. The XRD results reveals that HCl-treated Cloisite 20A, and PANI-ES/Cloisite 20A nanocomposites are delaminated. Flake-like morphologies were observed in Cloisite 20A and HCl-treated Cloisite 20A, whereas different rate of compacted fibrous morphologies of prepared PANI-ES/Cloisite 20A nanocomposites were observed as evident from SEM images. The Si-O FTIR band position does not change even after HCl treatment of Cloisite 20A, but different FTIR peaks positions of PANI-ES/Cloisite 20A nanocomposites were shifted from pure PANI-ES peaks after using Cloisite 20A nanoclays. UV-Visible spectra indicated the increment of charge carrier within the PANI-ES/Cloisite 20A nanocomposites compared to the pure one. The prepared nanohybrids showed significantly improved thermal property compared to pristine PANI-ES as clear from TGA and DSC analysis. The highest DC electronic conductivity of nanocomposite prepared by core-shell route is found to be 5.12 S/cm using linear four probe techniques. In addition, the charge transport mechanism was understood with and without loading Cloisite 20A in PANI-ES. The conductivity data supported the temperature-dependence relationship σ(T) = σ0.exp[-To/T)1/4] and followed characteristic of three-dimensional variable-range hopping (3D‒VRH) mechanism. In addition, we were discussed the response of Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) gas with polyaniline based sensor materials.

In the present research, the properties of ultraviolet (UV) visible (daylight invisible) fluorescent coatings modified by the addition of SiO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles were studied. Structural, surface, and mechanical properties and changes in the coatings caused by accelerated ageing were analyzed. The results showed that the addition of nanoparticles caused the changes in unaged and aged printed coatings. Reflectance measurements of modified coatings showed that addition of TiO2 nanoparticles improved the visual effect of the unaged coatings. Furthermore, results have shown that the addition of SiO2 did not diminish the reflectance of the modified coatings after ageing. The results of roughness measurements showed that the addition of SiO2 decreased roughness after the ageing process, probably due to the degradation process indicated by Attenuated Total Reflection Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. The roughness of the coatings with TiO2 nanoparticles was increased after the ageing on the samples with higher concentrations of TiO2 due to the agglomerates of plastisol formed on the surface of the coatings, visible in SEM images. Surface analysis of coatings showed that TiO2 caused an increase in the polarity of the surface coatings. Results of the bending stiffness showed that the addition of the nanoparticles to the coating, especially of SiO2, significantly improved the bending stiffness of the unaged samples.

The Ni-P/TiN coating was used as bipolar plate by electroless plating on Ti. Surface morphology and phase structure of the coatings were characterized by SEM and XRD, respectively. Corrosion resistance of Ni-P and Ni-P/TiN coating was measured in the simulated solution of Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). The interfacial contact resistance (ICR) was conducted by applied different forces. SEM images indicated that the particles of core–shell structure were formed on the surface of coating on Ti substrate. The core–shell structure was composed of TiN core and Ni-P electroless plating shell. Compared with Ni-P coatings, the Ni-P/TiN coating showed better corrosion resistance behaviors and low ICR (below 10[Formula: see text]m[Formula: see text][Formula: see text] cm[Formula: see text] under pressure of 200 N/cm[Formula: see text]. TiN particles and distribution of core–shell were in favor of the formation of coating and compact surface morphology. The good conductivity was attributed to the compact surface morphology of coating. The Ni-P/TiN coating showed excellent interfacial conductivity and good corrosion resistance at applied high potential in simulated solution of PEMFCs.

The research on ultrafiltration membrane assisted by powdered zeolite for the treatment of secondary effluent from a municipal wastewater treatment plant was studied. The results show that membrane fouling rate is reduced by pre-coating the ultrafiltration membrane with powdered zeolite, and the treatment performance of secondary effluent is enhanced. UV-vis, three-dimensional excitation emission matrix (3D-EEM) fluorescence spectra and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images for ultrafiltration were also discussed.

Zn-Fe alloy electrodeposition was carried out in the presence of condensation product 2-{[(1E)-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)methylidene]amino}-3-hydroxypropanoic acid formed between veratraldehyde and serine in acid sulphate bath. Hull cell was used for optimizing the operating parameters and bath constituents. During deposition, the potential was shifted towards cathodic direction in the presence of addition agents and brightener. The polarization studies show that deposition taking place in basic bath and optimum bath was 1.08 and 1.15 V, respectively. Current efficiency and throwing power were reached around 85% and 26%, respectively. The SEM images of bright deposit indicated its fine-grained nature and appreciable reduction in the grain size. XRD studies have showed that the grain size of the deposit generated from optimum bath was 16 nm. UV-visible spectroscopic studies confirm the formation of complex between metal ion and brightener.
