The current globalised environment has been preceded by a generalised increase in the diffusion and use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as well as by a large investment in Research and Development (R&D) by companies. This circumstance makes the use of these technologies fundamental for the automotive sector to face with guarantees the growing international competitivity. Thus, the correct use of ICT provides an improvement in productivity, and therefore in the competitiveness of enterprises. This article analyses the evolution of total factor productivity (TFP) in the Spanish automotive sector for the year 2017, in order to determine the influence this variable has on the improvement of total factor productivity.

Abstract The research evaluation community has devoted multiple efforts to analyze the effects of Framework Programmes. However, there is little empirical evidence on their impact on economic performance. This article presents an empirical analysis of the research project-based networks created by 7th Framework Programme in the field of Information and Communication Technologies and investigates their links with regional total factor productivity. For comparison purposes, the diffusion network created by the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme is also studied. Our results allow us to assess whether (or not) there are any common patterns in the research and diffusion links established by regions in these two European-supported networks and evaluate their (potentially) different connection with productivity. We use tools from Social Network Analysis and, specifically, the novel measure of bridging centrality, which takes into account territories’ internal microstructure.

Research in information and communication technologies (ICTs) has proven to be a major driver for innovation and growth in many countries around the world and is therefore the focus of policies to strengthen research, collaboration and application of research results. This chapter represents a detailed policy analysis of ICT research policies from the European region. The analysis follows a four step pattern: (1) Introduction: the situation of ICT R&D (Information and communication Technology Research and Development) and in Europe, (2) The main actors and programmes funding ICT R&D, (3) The main actors and projects active in ICT R&D and (4) The main ICT R&D themes.

Nowadays, manufacturers, as well as distributors, have a large amount of paper-based technical drawings. The development of information and communication technologies last year cause the task of such drawing digitalization. The task becomes popular 20 years ago in the research and development community (R&D) and now it is still opened since it has not been solved completely. Now there is a lot of scientific papers as well as a lot of commercial systems that have been created to support such a process. R&D community considers the following tasks: converting a raster drawing to vector, noise removing, etc. Some of them can recognize scanned drawings with good quality. The paper aims to analyze current research and developments for the raster drawings digitalization automation. We consider and analyze different approaches that allow supporting the digitalization process: neutral networks (YOLO, MFC-gan, AUTOFEAT, intelligent feature recognition methodology), graph theorybased approach, an algorithm based on a set of rules and Opitz coding system, an algorithm based on field losses of the surface and the concept of bridges. There is commercial software that supports the digitalization process for the PDF that has been exported from the CAD software. However, scanned image recognition does not work fine.

The Belarusian economic model, state ownership, small and medium business, forms of association of economic organizations in the republic, foreign investments and the presence of TNCs in the Belarusian market, the level of development of information and communication technologies are considered as the main factors of development of cooperation relations in the Republic of Belarus. The article shows the comprehension by all subjects of economic activity and especially by the elite of the country of the effectiveness and value of cooperation relations is an obligatory condition for the participation of the Republic of Belarus in international technological cooperation. It is necessary to master modern mechanisms of extracting significant economic effects from cooperation that can not be obtained in hierarchical and market relations and which today determine the competitiveness of enterprises and countries

With the developments in Information and Communication Technologies, the competition now seems to be emerging on a global level rather than being on a national level. Communication, knowledge and information flow caused trade, production, consumption and any economic activity to originate the new competition and bond market opportunities on a national and global extent. The most dynamic and affective source of competition is to focus on the production of the new in today's Information Age. Mutual benefits rely mostly upon the technological developments and initiatives. Research and development activities gradually gain importance for the countries. In this paper, the data on research and development between Turkish Republic and Russian Federation is comparison and analyzed.

The essence of the processes of digitalization in the field of science of Russia has been considered, the specific issues of adaptation of science to the demands of the information society have been revealed, the readiness of the Informatization process of the Russian scientific sphere has been assessed. The criteria for the formation of the potential of digital technologies used in scientific and design work have been evaluated. The statistics of the state of development of high and knowledge-intensive technologies in General and information and communication technologies used in research and development, in particular, has been adduced. The complexities of determining indicators and classification of information and communication technologies used have been reviewed. The approaches to determining the statistics of the number of employees employed in computer science and related industries have been presented. The indicators of development of research and developments in the field of digital technologies have been investigated. The distribution of the employed in various sectors of the national economy has been given. An increase in the cost of importing technologies has been noted, which indicates a rise in the country’s technological dependence on sources of external (foreign) technologies. It has been noticed, that in the field of information and communication technologies, Russia had a significant profit from technology exports, which indicates the progressiveness of scientific developments in the field of digital technologies. The issues of financing research and development, shortcomings in the incentive mechanisms of the methods used and sources of funding have been considered. The state of educational processes, that form the personnel component of the digitalization of the economy, has been analysed. The results of information activity in the field of research and development will allow us to draw a conclusion about the lack of readiness of the sphere of research and development in the field of information and communication technologies in the organization of promotion and dissemination of digital technologies in the scientific field.
