Saprolegnia sp fungi are freshwater mushrooms that live in freshwater environments and require water to grow and reproduce. Mushroom Saprolegnia is a major type of water fungus that is associated with fungal infections of fish and eggs that are in freshwater. Saprolegnia sp fungus is also called a cold water fungus because it spreads in cold water. Saprolegnia fungus growth in fish / egg bodies or suitable substrate is affected by water temperature. Saprolegnia sp attack causes clinical symptoms that are filled with white threads such as cotton grown in fish eggs. To overcome this problem needed a solution for the prevention of fungal infections one of them is by using anti-fungal herbs such as chicken shoot leaves (Tagetes erecta L). therefore this research needs to be done to control fungal infections Saprolegnia sp on tawes fish eggs. This study used a complete randomized design (RAL), each treatment was repeated three times, the treatment was: P0 = ppm, P1 = 400 ppm, P2 = 600 ppm, and P3 = 800 ppm. The results showed that the most effective extraction was found in treatment P1 with an average value of 14%.

Tawes (Puntius javanicus) is one of the freshwater fish species that has economic value in Aceh. One of the obstacle in tawes fish breeding is Saprolegnia sp. fungus that attacks tawes fish eggs. The necessary solutions  was needed to resolve fungal infection by using Tagetes erecta L. Therefore this research was very important to control fungal infections on fish eggs Saprolegnia sp.. This study used Randomized Complete Design with four treatments and three raplications for each treatments. The treatment in this study namely P0 = P1 = ppm, 40 ppm, P2 = 50 ppm, P3 = 60 ppm, and P4 = 70 ppm. The parameters observed in this research is the prevalence of eggs hatchability rate, eggs growth and water quality. The results of this study showed that the highest value of tawes eggs hatchability (prevalence) found in treatment 3 (P3 = 60 ppm) was 53.33% and the lowest value was present in control treatment (P0 = 0 ppm) was 36.66%. The reasults of eggs hatchability rate (HR) show the highest values found in treatment 2 (P2 = 50 ppm) of 95.66% and the lowest value is present on the control (P0 = 0 ppm) of 45.66%. On the egg development stage shows that there is a embryogenesis process starts from cleavage, morula, blastula, gastrula, organogenesis to become larvae. Water quality during the research shows that water temperature range were 29.2-30oC, and DO water range were 3.6-4.8 mg/l.

<p>Drought tolerance is an important genotypic character to be exploited for the plant cultivar selection under water deficit conditions. In the recent study, we examined the response of two marigold cultivars (Inca and Bonanza) under different regimes of drought stress. The aim was to determine the best performing cultivar under water/drought stress. Three irrigation treatments include; 4 days (T1), 6 days (T2) and 8 days (T3) in comparison to control 1 day (T0) interval were imposed. Response characters under study were morphological, physiological and anatomical. Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four replications in two factorial arrangements was followed for experiment layout. The results revealed that increasing water stress adversely affect plant height, in both cultivars. Both cultivars showed a decreasing trend to the number of flowers under water stress. Total chlorophyll contents including a, b were also showed reduction under prolonged drought treatment in both cultivars from (2.7 mg g-1 FW) to (1 mg g-1 FW). Overall, the performance of cultivar (cv.) Inca was satisfactory under water stress regimes. These results are helpful for selecting drought tolerant marigold cultivars in water scarce areas.   </p>

Objective: To estimate the anti-microbial activity of ethanolic extract of Tagetes erecta L. (family-Asteraceae) in association with phytochemical analysis. Methods: The ethanolic extract of the stems of TageteseErecta L. was prepared and investigate for phytochemical constituents using standard methods. Antimicrobial activity of ethanolic extract of has been carried out against one Gram positive bacteria-Staphylococcus aureus and one Gram negative bacteria-Escherichia coli, and the antifungal activity of the plant extract was evaluated on Candida albicans species. The testing was done by the disc diffusion method to visualize the zone of inhibition of ethanolic extract was compared with that of standard drug i.e., Ciprofloxacin for anti-bacterial activity and Terbinafine for anti-fungal activity. The MIC was determined by the microdilution method (Cup-plate method). Results: The present investigation shows the phytochemical analysis, antimicrobial activity of the ethanolic extract of the stems of Tagetes erecta L. Various phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of alkaloids, saponin glycosides, flavonoids, phenol, proteins and amino acids, cardiac glycosides, steroids, tanin and phenolic compounds. The anti-microbial activity of the ethanolic extract of the plant showed significant results against all three of the test organisms in compare to the standard drugs. Conclusion: The present study concluded that ethanolic extract of-of the stems of Tagetes erecta L. Proved the existence of phytochemical constituents. The ethanolic extract of the plant was found to possess promising antimicrobial activity when compared with the standards and it can be useful for the development of the antibiotics.

Tagetes erecta L. is a popular ornamental plant of the Asteraceae family, which is widely cultivated not only for its decorative use, but also for the extraction of lutein. Besides carotenoid representatives, which have been extensively studied, other important classes of secondary metabolites present in the plant, such as polyphenols, could exhibit important biological activities. The phytochemical analysis of a methanolic extract obtained from T. erecta inflorescences was achieved using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) techniques. The extract was further subjected to a multistep purification process, which allowed the separation of different fractions. The total extract and its fractions contain several polyphenolic compounds, such as hydroxybenzoic and hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives, flavonols (especially quercetagetin glycosides), and several aglycons (e.g., quercetin, patuletin). One of the fractions, containing mostly quercetagitrin, was subjected to two different antioxidant assays (metal chelating activity and lipoxygenase inhibition) and to in vitro cytotoxicity assessment. Generally, the biological assays showed promising results for the investigated fraction compared to the initial extract. Given the encouraging outcome of the in vitro assays, further purification and structural analysis of compounds from T. erecta extracts, as well as further in vivo investigations are justified.
