Objective – The research objective of this paper is to establish an efficient awareness model of emergency supplies dispatching for tropical cyclone disasters, so as to timely deliver emergency supplies to each disaster area at the lowest cost. Methodology/Technique – Taking the disaster caused by super typhoon No.1409 "Rammasun" to cities and counties in Guangxi as an example, 24 counties (districts) belonging to 7 prefecture-level cities with more than 1000 people in need of emergency transfer and resettlement are selected as the research objects. Findings– The linear programming method is used to establish two kinds of emergency supplies dispatching models: level-by-level centralized dispatching model and unified dispatching model of provincial emergency management center. By comparing the calculation results of the two models, it is found that the level-by-level centralized dispatching model adopted by Guangxi government departments is relatively high in cost although it is simple and convenient. Novelty– The total cost of the improved unified dispatching model of provincial emergency management center is 31.72% less than that of the level-by-level centralized dispatching model, which has greater promotion value. The research results can provide a better reference for the government departments at all levels in Guangxi to formulate the emergency supplies dispatching scheme for tropical cyclone disasters. Background: Although the Internet boosts business profitability, without certain activities like efficient transportation, scheduling, products ordered via the Internet may reach their destination very late. The environmental problems (vehicle part disposal, carbon monoxide [CO], nitrogen oxide [NOx] and hydrocarbons [HC]) associated with transportation are mostly not accounted for by industries.Objectives: The main objective of this article is to minimising negative externalities cost in e-commerce environments.Method: The 0-1 mixed integer linear programming (0-1 MILP) model was used to model the problem statement. The result was further analysed using the externality percentage impact factor (EPIF).Results: The simulation results suggest that (1) The mode of ordering refined petroleum products does not impact on the cost of distribution, (2) an increase in private cost is directly proportional to the externality cost, (3) externality cost is largely controlled by the government and number of vehicles used in the distribution and this is in no way influenced by the mode of request (i.e. Internet or otherwise) and (4) externality cost may be reduce by using more ecofriendly fuel system.

Production planning is often challenging for small medium enterprises (SMEs) company. Most of the SMEs are having difficulty in determining the optimal level of the production output which can affect their business performance. Product mix optimization is one of the main key for production planning. Many company have used linear programming model in determining the optimal combination of various products that need to be produced in order to maximize profit. Thus, this study aims for profit maximization of a SME company in Malaysia by using linear programming model. The purposes of this study are to identify the current process in the production line and to formulate a linear programming model that would suggest a viable product mix to ensure optimum profitability for the company. ABC Sdn Bhd is selected as a case study company for product mix profit maximization study. Some conclusive observations have been drawn and recommendations have been suggested. This study will provide the company and other companies, particularly in Malaysia, an exposure of linear programming method in making decisions to determine the maximum profit for different product mix.

Special Economic Zone has been introduced as a new approach in Indonesia for regional development purposes on the basic of economic activities concentration. Some countries have run such project as part of national income and thus opening new job opportunity for the local people. A concept for its development need to be established since it also affects to the government’s expenditure. This is a chance for the government to open mind in creating new investment from other countries to Indonesia. Two cities have been chosen as cases of study namely Bitung – north Sulawesi Province and Dumai – Riau Province. The first is known as fish processing industry city whereas the second one is known as CPO processing industry city. This study has proved that Dumai has a good prospect as a special economic zone based on the application of Powersim dynamic programming model for its analysis.

A study was undertaken in Bhagwanpur distributary of Vaishali Branch Canal in Gandak Canal Command Area, Bihar to optimally allocate land area under different crops (rice and maize in kharif, wheat, lentil, potato in rabi and green gram in summer) in such a manner that maximizes net return, maximizes crop production and minimizes labour requirement employing simplex linear programming method and Multi-Objective Fuzzy Linear Programming (MOFLP) method. Maximum net return, maximum agricultural production, and minimum labour required under defined constraints (including 10% affinity level of farmers to rice and wheat crops) as obtained employing Simplex method were ` 3.7 × 108, 5.06 × 107 Kg and 66,092 man-days, respectively, whereas Multi-Objective Fuzzy Linear Programming (MOFLP) method yielded compromised solution with net return, crop production and labour required as ` 2.4 × 108, 3.3 × 107Kg and 1,79,313 man-days, respectively. As the affinity level of farmers to rice and wheat crops increased from 10% to 40%, maximum net return and maximum production as obtained from simplex linear programming method and MOFLP followed a decreasing trend and minimum labour required followed an increasing trend. MOFLP may be considered as one of the best capable ways of providing a compromised solution, which can fulfill all the objectives at a time.
