This study was a research and development used ADDIE model aimed to produce mathematics textbook for 8th-grade students by applying five principles of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach, included: phenomenological exploration, bridging by vertical instruments, self-reliance with students own constructions and productions, interactivity, and intertwining. The subject in this study involved 30 students' junior high school in Yogyakarta. The qualities of the developed textbook refer to three criteria, namely validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Supporting instruments used to examine three criteria for the quality of the textbook were validation sheets, assessment sheets for teachers and students, and students' mathematical communication ability test. The textbook meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness if at least "good" from the results of validator assessments, the results analysis from teachers and student assessments, and at least 75% of the students' mathematical communication ability test results. Based on the results of this study, the developed textbook has met the criteria of validity (very good), practicality (very good by the teacher and good by students), and effectiveness (good for 86.67%). Therefore, developing textbooks is suitable to use as an alternative to enhance the students' mathematical communication ability.

The main purpose of this study to investigate the ability of mathematical communication ofHigh School Students, as a result of learning mathematics through application RealisticMathematics Education (RME). Research design used was a quasi experimental. Subjects inthis study consisted of 70 students of class VII Junior High School, Junior High School on oneof the states in Bandung academic year 2015/2016. Subject determined by purposivesampling techniques, and this study using pretest-posttest design of the control group. Datacollected with a mathematical communication ability test descriptions. Data were analyzedusing parametric statistical tests which is Test Independent Sample T-Test and nonparametrical tests which is Test Mann-Whitney. The results showed that: (1) students wholearn math with RME approach has a better ability mathematical communication of studentswho do not learn math with RME; (2) increasing mathematical communication ability ofstudents who learn with RME better than students who do not learn with RME; (3) students'attitudes toward learning mathematics through RME showed a positive attitude.

This research aims to produce mathematics textbook for grade VII junior high school students based on realistic mathematics and oriented to the mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication. The quality is determined based on Nieveen criteria, including validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This study was a research and development and used Borg & Gall model. The subject of this research were the students of SMPN 2 Pujon-Kabupaten Malang, that is 30 students in an experimental class (using the developed textbook) and 29 students in a control class (using BSE book from the government). The teaching material was categorized valid if the expert's judgment at least is categorized as “good”. The teaching material was categorized practical if both of teachers and students assessment at least categorized as “good”. The teaching material was categorized effectively if minimum 75% of student scores at least is categorized as “good” for the mathematical reasoning test and mathematical communication test. This research resulted in a valid, practical, and effective teaching material. The resulted of the validation show that material teaching is valid. The resulted of teachers and students assessment show that the product is practical. The tests scores show that the product is effective. Percentage of students who categorized at least as “good” is 83,33% for the mathematical reasoning and 86,67% for the mathematical communication. The resulted of statistic test shows that the product more effective than the BSE book from the government in terms of mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication.

Mathematics communication is a way of sharing ideas and clarifying comprehension. The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach can improve mathematical communication skills. The student worksheet is used because it is shorter, more comfortable and summarizes the material along with the questions to be able to assist students in the ability of mathematics communication. This study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of student worksheets based on Realistic Mathematics Education Approach to improve students' mathematical communication skills. This research is development research with ADDIE development model, that is analysis, design, develop, evaluation implementation. The subject of this research is the students of the first grade of VII. Instruments used in the form of validation sheet, mathematics communication ability test, and interview guidance manual. The validation sheet is addressed to material experts and media experts. The test to determine students 'mathematical communication skills is done before and after the use of student worksheet so that it is known whether there is an increase in students' mathematical communication ability. Interview guides are conducted with teachers and students to find out the curricula and character of students in the school. Data analysis techniques in this study using data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The resulting student worksheet design based on the RME approach that matches the characteristics, curriculum, and student tasks. This research can be developed to the stage of development, implementation, and evaluation.

This study aims to describe the mathematical communication abilities in terms of selft concept of studens of class VIII junior high school 10 Cimahi. This research method is included in this type of research descriptive research is qualitative, describes approach the errors of students in answering questions mathematical communication seen from selft concept. The research in the test to 22 students in the sample in this study is 9 students. The determination of the sampling is done by taking the 3 students that have high self concept, 3 students who have self concept, and 3 student have low self concept. The result of data analysis showed the ability of mathematical communication for students who have hgh self concept that is 2 students showed the test of mathematical communication ability enough and 1 student low. Mathematical communication skills for students who have a moderate self concept that is 2 students showed good mathematical cominication ability test and 1 low students. The ability of mathematical communication for students who have a low selft concept that is 2 student showed less mathematical ability test and 1 students enough.

This research developed Science, Environment, Technology, Society (SETS) e-module integrated with predict, observe, explain (POE) model on the subject matter of Earth Layer and Its Dynamics for grade VII students. This study aimed to reveal i) the feasibility of the developed e-module for grade VII students, and ii) the practicality of the developed e-module and its dynamics. This is a developmental research adopting the ADDIE model consisting of five stages, i.e.: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subject of the limited test consisted of 15 students of grade VIII.G of Public Junior High School 8 Yogyakarta. The data were collected using a product feasibility assessment sheet for material and media experts, a product practicality assessment sheet for teachers, and a product readability assessment sheet for students. The results show that the developed e-module was feasible to be used according to the material and media experts and the developed e-module is practical according to teachers and students.

This research aims to describe the students’ mathematical communication ability by using cooperative learning talking stick type. This research conducted at one of junior high school in Asahan-North Sumatera- North Sumatera. This research used posttest experimental class design as the method to obtain data. The indicators used to measure mathematical communication ability in this research arranged in three, as follows: 1) the ability of explaining a mathematical problem into figure; 2) the ability to explain mathematical problem situations by own words; 3) the ability of stating a mathematical problem in writing into mathematical models and doing calculation to solve the problem. The result found from this research is there are the differences in the students’ way of answering the problem even though the learning model and the instrument used is same.
