The changes taking place in the contemporary labour market were the factor that prompted our project. The employee’s position on this market does not depend only on his specialist knowledge and professional qualifications. This is particularly important in a multicultural environment, in which even linguistic competences are losing their significance because – without the ability to adapt to new cultural conditions – they do not play a major role. Cultural diversity becomes a source of competitive advantage at the moment when a company adopts appropriate strategies and techniques, which is the task faced by, among others, modern managers. The aim of the project is to explore the role of cross-cultural competence as an important element of university education from the point of view of both: educational programmes and the labour market. It is now believed that cross-cultural competence, understood as an attitude towards cooperation with representatives of other cultures, is a very important element of university education in the process of preparing students to successfully function on the global labour market. The level of interpersonal skills of individual members of a multicultural team (especially the level of their cultural intelligence) which enables them to effectively cooperate with representatives of other cultures is one of the main elements of cross-cultural competence. On the basis of the results of the study, the theories of management science will be elaborated on, taking into account international realities and emphasising the importance of cross-cultural competence on the labour market. The results of the project will support the development of management science, especially in the field of intercultural management, by indicating how existing management theories are based on and benefit from practice, and how they are interpreted in management practice. Thanks to the study, both theoreticians and practitioners of management will be able to obtain more knowledge about cross-cultural competence.

Fundamental theories of management science as well as important management practice from the perspective of economics are explained and references to public administration become clear. A comprehensive empirical study by means of expert interviews helps to provide a well-founded and in-depth insight into the actual management practice of public administration. The empirical study presents room for improvement in applied public administration management.

Cross-cultural communication in the context of competence and educational system is the major focus in this project. The paper concerns the issue of cross-cultural communication in the sphere of university education in the EL classroom. Special attention is given to the problems of innovation potential of different methods and models for the formation of cross-cultural competency. The article concentrates on developing cross-cultural awareness that students of non-linguistic higher schools should have knowledge in order to effectively communicate with other people. This awareness can be developed by means of particular didactic organization of a foreign language teaching process. Some methods and models aimed at students’ adopting peculiarities of foreign non-linguistic reality are considered here. Moreover, the author argues that there is a necessity to pay extra attention to the parameters of shaping cross-cultural competence. It is claimed that intercultural sensitizer (culture assimilator) is one of the most adequate and efficient techniques in enhancing cross-cultural competence in the process of training.     Keywords: Cross-cultural competence; innovative potential; methods and models of teaching; didactic organization

Abstract The Romanian academic system must adapt to the changing demands imposed by the European educational standards, according to the conventions of Bologna and Lisbon. The compatibilisation of university paths in creating the curricula must consider the competences which are to be acquired. The responsibility belongs equally to the institutions providing academic programs, but also to the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. We intend to analyse comparatively both the constant and variable elements of the academic programs for the Music field. The efficiency of these programs is particularly reflected from the point of view of insertion in the labour market, so the direct beneficiaries are the graduate students.

The essential measurable part of human capital is education. Educational, research and development capacities, economic development of regions, labour market, education of the population, and educational effects in regions of the CR in 2008 are the theme of this paper. The authors have analysed the total of 15 indices, which were shown in logical and conclusive mutual relations. The authors tried to quantify and from this point of view to compare the regions of the CR in light of the economic effect of education, which is based on the status of people with university education in the labour market – this is a combination of higher remuneration, higher economic activity and better employability of people with university education. The effect of education was assessed in the relation to the values of corresponding indices for the whole CR. In this case, a special status of the capital city of Prague and Central-Bohemian Region were manifested, while the opposite end of the ladder was occupied by Karlovy Vary Region and Ústí Region. In most cases, the status of university educated population of the regions corresponds with the values determined for all the CR. An interesting view can be presented by a comparison inside regions, in the relation to the values of indices for the given region. Here the largest effects from education were manifested mainly in some less developed regions, while e.g. Prague, a traditional leader in all similar analyses, is from this point of view found almost at the back.
