scholarly journals Qibla Direction Correction Test using a Digital Compass and Arduino Microcontroller

Qibla is an Arabic word that refers to the direction in which a Muslim establishes prayer. In this study, we made a Qibla-based digital compass and Arduino microprocessor construction. The spherical trigonometry method is used to find out the direction of the Qibla by getting cross lines and longitude. While the direction of the qibla is obtained with the help of a digital compass. The testing of this tool was carried out at the mosque in Indonesia. The results showed that the direction of the Qibla for the Nur Asmaul Husna Mosque (Banten Province) is located at 295.2077026o with a correction of -0.06o . Gedhe Kauman Mosque is (Yogyakarta City) located at 294.7148437owith a correction of -0.35o and the Jami Nurul Muminin mosque is located at 294.0274353o with a correction of -9.74o . A small correction value indicates the accuracy of the Qibla direction

A mosque is the Muslims’ primary place of worship. The term ‘mosque’ is derived from an Arabic word meaning a place for sujood (salah). However, verily, not only is a mosque merely the Muslims’ place for salah, but it may also be taken advantage of as a place for enhancing social and economic conditions of the neighboring residents regardless of their races, ethnic groups and religions. This is what Jogokariyan Mosque in Yogyakarta has exemplified. Located in Jogokariyan Kampong, Mantrijeron Sub-district, Yogyakarta City, the mosque started to be built on September 20th 1966, with the initial size of which measuring 15 by 9 meter and occupying 660 square meters of land. It was inaugurated in August 1967. When directly observing it for several days in July 2018, I noticed that this Jogokariyan Mosque had many facilities, distinctions, and uniqueness that most mosques did not have in general. For instance, very few or probably no mosques had inns with dozens of rooms with three-star-hotel facilities. The mosque’s management had applied three steps in enhancing Jogokariyan residents’ quality of life from mapping, giving services, to the society’s empowerment as the completion stage. To Muslims who had not made salah jamaah at the mosque, they were officially invited like that of a wedding invitation. In the society’s prosperity sector, the mosque’s management had renovated several needy families’ houses. With those many facilities, distinctions, and uniqueness, Masjid Jogokariyan had successfully played its role as an agent of change, so this mosque became legendary and phenomenal; therefore, in 2016 the Ministry Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia bestowed it an award and made it a Pilot National Grand Mosque.

This article explores how the uniqueness of the Qur'anic revelation has been perceived by primarily Sunnī Muslim commentators through time in the context of four main analytical aspects of revelation: (i) revelation as communication between God and humans that links language to divine truth; (ii) revelation as both oral and written text that points to complementary modes of divine discourse; (iii) revelation as purposeful manifestation of divine mercy and justice; and finally (iv) the idea of revelation as beautiful and inimitable text that invites the human recipient to ponder the aesthetics of divine self-disclosure which becomes reflected in Islamic theology as the doctrine of iʿjāz al-Qurʾān. These aspects are indicated by certain key concepts and terms derived from the Qur'anic vocabulary itself and are discussed in detail in order to illuminate the nature of the Qur'anic revelation—as adumbrated within the Qur'an itself and as elaborated upon by its human exegetes. The Arabic word for the phenomenon of revelation is waḥy and is, strictly speaking, applied to the Qur'an alone. In the Qur'an, the term wahy and its derivatives frequently occur with reference to God and His communication with humankind, although exceptions exist. Tanzīl is another Qur'anic lexeme that refers uniquely to God's direct communication with humanity. In the understanding of a number of influential commentators, both these terms also imply linguistic and rhetorical excellence as a component of divine revelation recognisable in all four of the aspects identified here.

This research was conducted to examine the influence of positive emotion, time availability, and money availabilty toward impulsive buying behavior both partially and simultaneously. The respondent of this research are university students who have experienced unplanned buying in several department stores at Yogyakarta City. Purposive sampling method was utilized then 102 respondents were chosen. The results indicate that positive emotion, time availability, and money avaiability positively and significantly influence impulsive buying behavior. The three independent variables as stated above, simultaneously influence impulsive buying behavior also. Finally, as the managerial implication stated, it can be concluded that understanding consumers condition related with unplanned buying is important topics in recent years, especially in department store.

Aims: Normally, the temperature increase of individuals leads to the possibility of getting a type of disease, which might be risky to other people such as coronavirus. Traditional techniques for tracking core-temperature require body contact either by oral, rectum, axillary, or tympanic, which are unfortunately considered intrusive in nature as well as causes of contagion. Therefore, sensing human core-temperature non-intrusively and remotely is the objective of this research. Background: Nowadays, increasing level of medical sectors is a necessary targets for the research operations, especially with the development of the integrated circuit, sensors and cameras that made the normal life easier. Methods: The solution is by proposing an embedded system consisting of the Arduino microcontroller, which is trained with a model of Mean Absolute Error (MAE) analysis for predicting Contactless Core-Temperature (CCT), which is the real body temperature. Results: The Arduino is connected to an Infrared-Thermal sensor named MLX90614 as input signal, and connected to the LCD to display the CCT. To evaluate the proposed system, experiments are conducted by participating 31-subject sensing contactless temperature from the three face sub-regions: forehead, nose, and cheek. Conclusion: Experimental results approved that CCT can be measured remotely depending on the human face, in which the forehead region is better to be dependent, rather than nose and cheek regions for CCT measurement due to the smallest

Since 1980s, accelerated by urbanization, Yogyakarta City was shifting to many directions defined by main road networks and service centres. Urbanization has transformed rural dwellings to become urban settlements and generated urban agglomeration area. Until now, new business centres, education centres and tourism centres are growing hand in hand with new settlements (formal or informal) without proper provision of water supply and sanitation system. This condition increase the possibility of groundwater contamination from urban wastewater and a change of major chemistry of groundwater as shallow unconfined aquifer is lying under Yogyakarta City. To prove the evolution of groundwater chemistry, old data taken on 1980s were comparing with the recent groundwater chemistry data. The evaluation shows that nitrate content of groundwater in 1980s was a minor anion, but nowadays become a major anion, especially in the shallow groundwater in the centre of Yogyakarta City. This evidence shows that there is an evolution of groundwater chemistry in shallow groundwater below Yogyakarta City due to contamination from un-proper on-site sanitation system. Keywords: Urbanization, Yogyakarta city, rural dwellings, settlements, agglomeration, contamination, groundwater

This work contains continued research carried out on improving mathematical models of the Gauss-Krueger projection in accordance with the parameters of any ellipsoid with the removal of points from the axial meridian to l ≤ 6° . In terms of formulae earlier derived by the authors with improved convergence for the calculation of planar rectangular coordinates by geodesic coordinates, the algorithms for determining the convergence of meridians on the plane and the scale of the image are obtained. The improvement of the formulae represented in the form of series in powers of the difference in longitudes was accomplished by separating spherical terms in series and then replacing their approximate sums by exact expressions using the formulae of spherical trigonometry. As in previous works published in this journal [7, 8], determining the sums of the spherical terms was carried out according to the laws of the transverse-cylindrical projection of the sphere on the plane. Theoretical studies are given and formulae are proposed for estimating the observational errors in the results of the derived algorithms. The maximum of observational errors of convergence of meridians and scale, proceeding from the specified accuracy of the determined quantities was established through analytical methods.
