Indian Railways has the largest rail network in the world and is also responsible for transferring millions and millions of passengers on a daily basis. But it has obtained the reputation of being accident prone. Consequently the safety record of Indian Railways is very low. Many factors affect the safety of the trains in Indian Railways. Major environmental conditions, geographical conditions and the conditions of the driver's driving the trains are all factors which contribute towards accidents. Along with these conditions the track conditions and the asset conditions also contribute towards accidents. This paper presents a simple technique to reduce accidents in Indian Railways as well as monitor the train on a real time basis with very low cost application

Wireless Sensor Networks constitute an important part of the Internet of Things, and in a similar way to other wireless technologies, seek competitiveness concerning savings in energy consumption and information availability. These devices (sensors) are typically battery operated and distributed throughout a scenario of particular interest. However, they are prone to interference attacks which we know as jamming. The detection of anomalous behavior in the network is a subject of study where the routing protocol and the nodes increase power consumption, which is detrimental to the network’s performance. In this work, a simple jamming detection algorithm is proposed based on an exhaustive study of performance metrics related to the routing protocol and a significant impact on node energy. With this approach, the proposed algorithm detects areas of affected nodes with minimal energy expenditure. Detection is evaluated for four known cluster-based protocols: PEGASIS, TEEN, LEACH, and HPAR. The experiments analyze the protocols’ performance through the metrics chosen for a jamming detection algorithm. Finally, we conducted real experimentation with the best performing wireless protocols currently used, such as Zigbee and LoRa.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of lightweight devices with low cost, low power, and short-ranged wireless communication. The sensors can communicate with each other to form a network. In WSNs, broadcast transmission is widely used along with the maximum usage of wireless networks and their applications. Hence, it has become crucial to authenticate broadcast messages. Key management is also an active research topic in WSNs. Several key management schemes have been introduced, and their benefits are not recognized in a specific WSN application. Security services are vital for ensuring the integrity, authenticity, and confidentiality of the critical information. Therefore, the authentication mechanisms are required to support these security services and to be resilient to distinct attacks. Various authentication protocols such as key management protocols, lightweight authentication protocols, and broadcast authentication protocols are compared and analyzed for all secure transmission applications. The major goal of this survey is to compare and find out the appropriate protocol for further research. Moreover, the comparisons between various authentication techniques are also illustrated.

Di era Internet of Things (IoT). Kata kunci: Internet of Things, Kondisi Lingkungan, Peternakan, Smart City, WSN. In the Internet of Things era (IoT). Everyone can access the data in anywhere and anytime. All stored data can be accessed using end devices such as smartphones, laptops and computers. One of the IoT technologies is a smart city for monitoring the environment. To be able to know the condition and quality of an environment, everyone does not need to wait for the announcement of information or come to the relevant agencies in the government. Utilization of IoT on Environmental Monitoring can be applied to the field of ranch. in this case it will be used for helping someone in knowing the quality of environmental conditions that will be used for. In this case it is how to find out which ranchs are suitable to be applied in the environment from the user that he want to construct cow or chicken ranch. Using wireless sensor networks (WSN) to retrieve values from these environmental conditions can help determine the condition and quality of the environment. IoT helps someone to open a business in field of ranchs that is suitable for region without having to do many survey. Only by using IoT, anyone can get suitable environmental quality data to open a ranch with environmental conditions that have been known before. Keywords: Environmental conditions, Internet of Things, Ranch, Smart City, WSN.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have experienced an amazing evolution during the last decade. Compared with other wired or wireless networks, wireless sensor networks extend the range of data collection and make it possible for us to get information from every corner of the world. The chapter begins with an introduction to WSNs and their applications. The chapter recognizes event detection as a key component for WSN applications. The chapter provides a structured and comprehensive overview of various techniques used for event detection in WSNs. Existing event detection techniques have been grouped into threshold based and pattern based mechanisms. For each category of event detection mechanism, the chapter surveys some representative technical schemes. The chapter also provides some analyses on the relative strengths and weaknesses of these technical schemes. Towards the end, the trends in the research regarding the event detection in WSNs are described.

As with many technologies, defense applications have been a driver for research in sensor networks, which started around 1980 due to two important programs of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA): the distributed sensor networks (DSN) and the sensor information technology (SensIT) (Chong & Kumar, 2003). However, the development of sensor networks requires advances in several areas: sensing, communication, and computing. The explosive growth of the personal communications market has driven the cost of radio devices down and has increased the quality. At the same time, technological advances in wireless communications and electronic devices (such as low-cost, low-power, small, simple yet efficient wireless communication equipment) have enabled the manufacturing of sensor nodes and, consequently, the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs).
