This study aims to examine the effect of work-life balance and emotional intelligence on organizational intelligence through work engagement. This quantitative research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 118 employees of Kebumen Branch and Unit of BRI Bank using a purposive sampling method. The data analysis used was Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using second-order confirmatory with the help of SmartPLS 3.0 application. The results showed that; (1) work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on work engagement, (2) emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on work engagement, (3) work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment, (4) emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment, (5) work engagement has a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment, (6) work engagement plays a role in mediating the effect of work-life balance on organizational commitment (7) work engagement plays a role in mediating the effect of emotional intelligence on organizational commitment of employees of Kebumen Branch and Unit of PT Bank BRI.

Industrial Revolution 4.0 is a phenomenon that collaborates with cyber technology and automation technology. this research aims to conduct scientific research on the role of work-life balance and the level of welfare of millennial employees through work engagement as a variable intervening. The participation of respondents to this study is the general of millennials who has worked in the Jakarta area, aged 21-36 years. Researchers used the purposive sampling method. This study uses a work-life balance measurement tool with a balance dimension in time management, engagement balance, balance in expectation fulfillment, and satisfaction balance. Besides, at the level of well-being with meaningful work-life factors, good social relationships, work attachment, self-actualization, comfortable circumstances, self-acceptance. While employee performance is measured through the work environment, ability to do work, and motivation. Work Engagement is measured by vigor, dedication, and absorption indicators. The analysis technique used is Structural Equation Modeling based on VB-SEM using SmartPLS software. The results showed that five hypotheses of direct influence were accepted and one rejected. While the two hypotheses of indirect influence are each rejected and accepted. Work Engagement variables as intervening variables are only capable of mediating Work-Life Balance against Employee Performance.

Work-Life balance has its importance from ancient days and the concept is very old, from the day the world has been created. There was a drastic change that has occurred in the market of teachers and their personal profiles. There are tremendous changes in various families which have bartered from the ‘breadwinner’ role of traditional men to single parent families and dual earning couples. This study furnishes an insight into work life balance and job satisfaction of teachers working in School of Villupuram District. The sample comprises of 75 school teachers from Government and private schools in Villupuram District. The Study results that there is increasing mediating evidence in Work-life balance as well as Job satisfaction of teachers are not affected by the type of school in which they are working. Job satisfaction or Pleasure of life will be affected as a whole by Work life balance of an individual which is the main which can be calculated by construct of subjective well being.

PurposeThis study sought to understand how having a calling influenced engagement, work–life balance and career satisfaction for Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA) and Golf Course Superintendent of America (GCSA) professionals.Design/methodology/approachA conceptual model was used to examine callings among golf course supervisors and its impact on their engagement, work–life balance and career satisfaction. This study also explored the moderation effect of employees’ generalized or specialized role on the calling–engagement relationship. Surveys were collected from a single golf management company and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for data analysis.FindingsThe results revealed significant relationships among all of the variables, with the exception of the impact of having a calling on work–life balance. Additionally, the more having a calling increased, the more important it was for supervisors to have specialized roles to increase their engagement.Originality/valueThis study identifies important differences in factors that promote career satisfaction for golf course supervisors and extends current understanding of role theory.

Purpose of the study: This research explores the effects of Work-Life Balance (WLB) on job and life satisfaction, and burnout in Iran and Spain. Besides, this research investigates the impact of WLB on organizational commitment and the mediating role of this factor on the studied outcomes. Methodology: This study uses confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling in AMOS to analyze a sample of 263 full-time employees. The sample includes employees from various sectors and firms. The same measurement scales, factors, and structural models were used in both studied countries. Main Findings: The results of this study confirm that there are positive relationships between WLB and job and life satisfaction and negative relationships between WLB and burnout in both countries. Furthermore, results confirm the partial mediating role of organizational commitment on WLB and the studied outcomes in a way that WLB has a positive impact on the organizational commitment which is, in turn, positively associated with job satisfaction and negatively related to cynicism in both country samples. Applications of this study: These findings involve that WLB has a positive impact on employees' outcomes. Therefore, organizations should implement and promote WLB policies as a means to increase their employees' satisfaction while reducing job burnout. Employers' attention to WLB should be prominent. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research is one of the first studies to investigate WLB outcomes in Middle-Eastern societies like Iran and compare them with western societies. The results show more similarities than differences between the two studied country samples, although few differences are found.

The authors attempted to investigate how to resolve the growing work-life balance issue occurring due to COVID-19 Pandemic in the higher education sector. On the premise of prominent literature, the study conceptualized a framework to test if supervisor support and employee`s proactive work behavior could help address the work-life balance issue. Through applying the quantitative approach, the study collected data from employees working in a higher education institution in the UK. Results of the structural equation modeling found significant association and influence of supervisor support and work-life balance. The study also found a strong affiliation between proactive work behavior and work-life balance. However, proactive work behavior did not moderate supervisor support and work-life balance relationship. The study concluded that both supervisor support and proactive work behavior could be vital in helping employees to achieve their work goals effectively and efficiently without compromising their work-life balance. The study forwards prominent implications to guide practitioners, policymakers and researchers in this domain.

Human resource is the one of the most important elements in the company. Therefore, the company must have related strategies to retain these workers. One of them is by increasing employee loyalty and satisfaction through flexibility of work and work life balance. The strategy chosen is based on the unique characteristics of the majority of workers who entered the millennial generation. Some companies are already implementing these strategies, including startup companies. This study aims to investigate the influence of the flexibility of working on loyalty and employee satisfaction with work life balance. This research was conducted using convenience and snowball sampling technique to the 121 respondents with a millennial generation background which is worked in startup companies in Indonesia. Data obtained from respondents were processed and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results of this study indicate that flexibility of work has significant and positive influence to loyalty and employee satisfaction. However, flexibility of work has positive and significant impact on loyalty and employee satisfaction. This research prove that work life balance have partial mediating influence in relationship between flexibility of work and loyalty. In the other hands, work life balance have no mediating a relationship between flexibility of work and the satisfaction of employee with millennial background that is worked in startup companies.

Offering services to clients by staff is a major feature of the hotel industry. Therefore, maintaining high-quality and stable services is critical for hotels to stay competitive. As for hotel human resource management, how to effectively increase employee retention is crucial because it not only enhances organizational performance but also reduces personnel cost. In this study, the researchers used structural equation modeling to explore the relationship between job embeddedness, organizational commitment, and intention to stay in tourist hotel interns. Furthermore, work–life balance was used as the moderating variable between organizational commitment and intention to stay. The study subjects were interns who had completed between half and one year of an internship at a tourist hotel and were going to graduate from the school upon completing the internship. The results indicated that job embeddedness has a significant and positive effect on organizational commitment and intention to stay whereas organizational commitment mediates the relationships between job embeddedness and intention to stay. In addition, work–life balance moderates interns’ intention to stay. This study provides the hotel industry with useful management guidelines for retaining employees and improving competitiveness.

University of Jember is a large State University with many students registered at Jember University, with the large number of students, it needs teaching staff (lecturers) and education staff in their daily education activities. Teaching and learning activities at the University of Jember starts from early morning hours until the evening so that impact on the workload of educational staff. At work, most people begin to feel there is something else that must be considered in addition to work, namely daily life. Lack of work-life balance is one of the triggers for stress. When an individual does not maintain balance and work too much in an organizational setting, this can lead to psychological and behavioral consequences, as well as low job satisfaction as a result of his/her productivity will also be low. This study aims to analyze mediating effect of Work Life Balance on the relationship between Workload and Job Satisfaction of Employees in Education Contract Staff at the University of Jember. The data used in this study are primary data using questionnaires on 106 respondents determined using purposive sampling technique. Researcher determines the sample taken is the University of Jember education contract staff who work more than 1 year and have shifts work schedules outside regular working hours several days a week. The analytical method used is Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis. The results showed that workload and Work life balance had a significant effect on job satisfaction of Education Contract Employees at Jember University.

PurposeThis study aims to explore the relationship between work–life balance and employee retention by examining the mediating role of psychological empowerment among software firms based in India.Design/methodology/approachThe study collected 283 responses by using a structured questionnaire and interview method. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to validate the hypothesized research model for examining the consistency and sturdiness of the study variables by applying AMOS 20.FindingsThe result reveals that psychological empowerment partially mediates the relationship between work–life balance and the retention of professionals. This indicates that a high degree of psychological empowerment strengthens the relations between work–life balance and the retention of professionals.Research limitations/implicationsThe research outlined a best-fit model of psychological empowerment as a partial mediator among work–life balance and the retention of professionals. The study presents a set of sensible and practical aspects where work–life balance and retention of professionals can aid in developing and generating commitment to the organization which could offer new insights for software professionals, managers and practitioners.Originality/valueThis study emphasized that psychological empowerment helps in enhancing dedication, loyalty, integrity, allegiance and trustworthiness among employees, thus playing a role between work–life balance and the retention of professionals.
