However, research has shown that in order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to take into account the awareness and opinion of teachers. This article is an exploratory study examining the application of CEFR in the English language teaching system in general education schools in Kazakhstan, with emphasis on the knowledge and opinions of teachers. The article also provides a brief overview of world experience in the practical application of the principles of CEFR in teaching English. This paper is devoted to the study of the impact of class size on teaching and learning English as a foreign language. The investigation was conducted at the department of English at Abdelhamid Ibn Badis University. The department has witnessed a huge increase in the enrolment figure in the past decade which resulted into an increase in class sizes. This has created problems for staff and students alike. Despite the steps taken by the administrators to reduce the number of students, the problem of class crowding still persists. The department of English, alone, has an enrolment of almost 3000 students, it is a huge number indeed if we take into consideration the availability of facilities and resources. The aim of this study is to explore the organizational and pedagogical difficulties that are frequently encountered by the teachers dealing with large classes and the effects on student learning. Additionally, this paper proposes some suggestions on how to deal with class overcrowding. As part of our research, we have given questionnaires to 200 students and 40 teachers. The findings of the survey clearly demonstrate that large class sizes have an adverse impact on the quality of teaching and learning.

Proficiency in professionally-oriented vocabulary is one of the most important factors that determine the success of communication in the academic, business and professional spheres, as well as a means of expanding knowledge in the subject area and developing extralinguistic competencies. In this regard, the training of professionally-oriented vocabulary is one of the most important areas for improving the quality of language training of specialists of a technical university. Despite the growing need for mastering a foreign language and the significant theoretical development of the issues of formation and development of lexical skills and teachings, the practical results of training often do not meet the goals set. We see one of the reasons for this contradiction in the insufficient or isolated implementation of the set of fundamental principles of teaching vocabulary, as well as their modern interpretation, taking into account the peculiarities of teaching the digital generation. It is also necessary to take into account the "unfavorable" pedagogical conditions of teaching a foreign language in a technical university, such as time constraints (2 hours per week, 2-4 semesters, depending on the university, along with the required increase in vocabulary from 1200 - 2600 units); low level of educational motivation in relation to the disciplines of the humanities cycle, rapid obsolescence of methodological literature and high dynamics of professional development. Taking into account the above, this paper attempts to summarize the available theoretical and practical material on the principles of teaching professionally-oriented vocabulary, considering it through the prism of the modern social order, clarifying some traditional principles taking into account the characteristics of students of the digital generation, as well as to demonstrate the complementarity and interdependence of these principles.
