The method of modernization and analysis of the choice of the electric motor are shown. It has been established that it is expedient to carry out modernization based on a feasibility study in several stages with the development and approval of technical documentation at each stage

The new history of a new Łódź multimodal station, its functions and surroundings has few milestones – in 2007 (concept), the feasibility study (2011) and the technical documentation (2013), than implementation stages (2012-2016). Designed using the best foreign experience in the field of multimodal railway and buses hubs. Its multifunctionality facilitates interchanges between different means of transport, contributing to the time reduction in the door-to-door journey. At the same time, the building an underground station enabled freeing a significant space for urban functions which was up till now an example of a deurbanized part of the city center.

Further expansion of Kolubara lignite basin indicates a necessity to limit future territorial encompass and spatial development of the present semi-urban settlement of Vreoci which is located some 50 km to the south from Belgrade. There is a part of Vreoci which has already been expropriated for the purposes of lignite exploitation, yet the possibility to resettle the town as a whole is still to be validated according to appropriate technical documentation and the feasibility study. Having that estimation of the total cost for such a venture so far showed to be unreliable, the Institute of Architecture and Urban & Spatial Planning professional team was engaged by the Electric Power of Serbia state company in order to prepare and conduct a questionnaire study on conditions for total resettlement of Vreoci. Before the actual fieldwork took place in June-July 2005, citizens of Vreoci were well informed on the questionnaire content and the interviewing period. The questionnaire was thus conducted through face-to-face interviews with one representative per household who could give all relevant information concerning this study. Though the questionnaire covered information on households as well as on their premises (general facts about constructions built on the household lots), this paper is focused on the first type of information and makes an emphasis on residents' opinion regarding viable/ sustainable options for their resettlement.

The modern offshore patrol vessel is designed to carry out various missions in the management of economic exclusion zones, thus having some speed of service. For example, the speed for slow patrol is 10 knots, regular patrols 18 knots and chasing 22 knots. This condition requires a flexible propulsion system, which is combination of mechanical and electrical propulsion system. The application of this propulsion system to the OPV can increase the load factor of the propulsion system, resulting in lower fuel consumption than when using a mechanical propulsion system. Based on feasibility analysis results, the choice of combination of mechanical and electrical propulsion system is more advantageous than mechanical propulsion system, although investment and maintenance cost is higher. Therefore, patrol boats should use combination of mechanical and electrical propulsion system.

Abstract Active suspension for automobiles involves an active control of wheel motions. This work investigates the possibility of realizing controlled wheel motion for an active suspension using piezoceramic actuation. The proposed concept deviates significantly from conventional practice of using heavier, hydraulic actuators. Rather than accomplising the wheel motion using the direct stroke of an actuator, the motion is to be realized by actively modifying the stiffness of the suspension system using piezoceramic sensing and actuation. Preliminary analysis and experimentation are performed to test the above concept. Two candidate designs are presented for composite piezoceramic suspension elements. It is shown that it is possible to control suspension system deflections through sufficient motion ranges necessary for this application.

AbstractHigh resolution images, obtained during July 11, 1991 total solar eclipse, allowed us to estimate the degree of solar corona polarization in the light of FeXIV 530.3 nm emission line and in the white light, as well. Very preliminary analysis reveals remarkable differences in the degree of polarization for both sets of data, particularly as for level of polarization and its distribution around the Sun’s limb.

Individuals with Rett syndrome (RS) present with a complex profile. They benefit from a multidisciplinary approach for diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. In our clinic, the Communication Matrix © (Rowland, 1990/1996/2004) is used to collect data about the communication skills and modalities used by those with RS across the lifespan. Preliminary analysis of this data supports the expected changes in communication behaviors as the individual with RS ages and motor deficits have a greater impact.
