Business plan has been one of the most popular management categories in our economy over the last two years. Popularity of business plan has been created from the outside. It is not the result of our managersz belief in its usefulness, but of the creditors request for potential debtors. In that way, business plan is becoming the main negotiating tool in providing financial resources for expanding capacities of the existing firms or start-ups. Creating business plans with this purpose only poses the biggest threat to its implementation. For these reasons, the concept, purposes and business planning process are also presented.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a very important role in the Vietnamese economy. Specifically, new SMEs are seen as a suitable solution to cope with development issues such as poverty and a high unemployment rate. In Vietnam, a high SME failure rate is due to lack of capital and poor managerial experience of owners. Most existing research on SMEs focuses on well-established stages, and less attention is paid to new SMEs. This paper investigates the determinants of credit access by SMEs existing for less than forty-two months in the Phu Tho province located in Northern Vietnam. The quantitative data were collected from 259 SMEs in 2015. The regression analysis reveals that a business plan, the firm size, and networking (emotional trust, knowledge trust, and approachability) are the main drivers of access to bank loans by new SMEs. About 64% (165 observations) of new SMEs in our sample did not get any bank loan caused by high collateral requirements, unfavorable interest rate, poor business plans, limited networking, and lack of government support. The results also indicate that, among the selected explanatory variables, having a concrete business plan significantly affects the bank loan ratio (total bank loans over total capital). Based on these results, we derived political implications.

Abstract Hospitals will soon require antibiotic stewardship programs. Infectious diseases specialists must craft business plans to engage hospital leadership to fund such programs. In this article, we review key cost and revenue elements that should be covered in such plans. Society is placing increasing emphasis on the importance of antimicrobial stewardship programs (ASPs). New regulatory standards require hospitals to implement ASPs. Infectious Diseases (ID) specialists will need to help design and implement such programs at hospitals. A critical component of establishing such programs is submitting a business plan to hospital leadership justifying the cost and structure of the ASP and explaining what benefits the hospital will gain in return. In this article, we explore typical elements of such business plans and describe how hospital leadership may evaluate and determine the value of such plans. Understanding hospital costs and revenue models is critical to creating a viable and realistic business plan to support ASPs.

A business plan is a document that describes how to manage a specific activity in a specific period of time. It is actually a study, but also a communication tool, designed to provide information to its potential recipients, whether they are investors and potential partners. Most times, it is used as a tool for strategic decisions or as a tool for the implementation of specific actions. The contents of such a business plan may vary according to the sector of activity; nevertheless it must follow certain standards. Usually business plans are used for the presentation of a company's plans to a bank or another financial institution, for financing. It provides answers to the following three questions: where is the position of the company now, were wants to be and how will manage to be there.

The main feature of the modern state investment policy is the creation of conditions for extending extra-budgetary sources of financing of capital investments and attraction of investments of own and foreign investors in the economy of the country based on the further improvement of the regulatory framework and state support of productive investment projects. State regulation of the investment process is carried out to implement economic, scientific and social policies. The constructed classification can be used by the heads of public administration institutes in developing business plans for investment projects, creating a model for managing an investment project, monitoring the implementation of a business plan for an investment project, developing regulatory management decisions aimed at adjusting the business plan and actions of executors of the investment project.

Writing of business plans ensures performance of a business and contributes to enabling countries to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). The latter are intended, in part, to promote industrialization, and improved human living and working standards. This chapter identifies and analyses the importance of business plan for family-owned food processing small and medium enterprises (Fo-SMEs). It advocates for the establishment of an “integrated planning” strategy to link Fo-SMEs and government support system for business development. Business-planning forecasts industrial production based on consumers' demands. Integrated planning ensures sustainability of Fo-SMEs, farmers' economic growth, and consequent achievement of SDGs. Tanzania Fo-SMEs serve as a useful lesson for developing economies. Future studies should consider Fo-SMEs' succession planning framework.

This article offers a critical discussion of the role of the business plan in current enterprise educational practice. In addition to reviewing recent work that considers the ‘for’ and ‘against’ arguments about the use of business plans in higher education, the authors suggest that the context of student learning is largely omitted from these discussions. As such, they contextualize the debate so that the purpose of the business plan can be better appreciated. They build on recent work that offers alternatives to the business plan – approaches directly focused on customer discovery and explicit testing of assumptions. In doing so, recent concerns about the value of business plans and, conversely, the views of those who argue in favour of the role of business plans in enterprise education, are noted. The article provides insights into emerging alternative practices in the field of enterprise education, practices based on students' use of such education as a vehicle for skills and knowledge development and/or wealth creation. It is acknowledged that various biases are present in the current debate, including those of the present authors: whilst it is accepted that these biases are unlikely to disappear, the article contextualizes their origins.
