This paper aims to analyse the relationship between obesity and economic growth in the context of the Obesity Kuznets Curve model for the Eurasian Economic Union for the years between 2000-2016. The relationship between obesity rates and the real gross domestic product has been examined for the Eurasian Economic Union in the context of the Obesity Kuznets Curve model using the fixed-effects model. The results show that the Obesity Kuznets Curve Model is valid for the Eurasian Economic Union. Therefore, this paper points out that the relationship between obesity rates and economic growth within the Eurasian Economic Union is non-linear.

The main purpose of the research presented in the article is to answer the question of whether or notthe Eurasian Economic Union has strategic opportunities to initiate integration processes with third countriesand built comparative advantages. The authors identify the channels of its integration with third countries aswell as assess their effectiveness based on the relationship with Vietnam, Singapore, Iran and China. Thefollowing methods were used: a critical literature analysis, an empirical analysis of the official documents, alogical construct method, an analytical theoretical overview of the Eurasian Economic Union external strategy,as well as statistical methods. Subsequently, based on the results obtained, a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses,Opportunities, Threats) analysis was carried out. The work diagnoses the main vectors of the EurasianEconomic Union strategy, analyses its institutional extra-regional integration as well as defines the scope andmain channels of the influence of business and logistics on extra-regional integration. The main achievement ofthe research presented in the article is the diagnosis and assessment of the impact channels of EurasianEconomic Union extra-regional integration. The research points out that the organisation has an effective extraregional policy towards very different Eurasian countries and uses many channels of influence.

The paper investigates the relationship between economic growth and environmental quality in the context of the Kuznets curve, which foresees that growth, while initially causing negative externalities for the environment, eventually can be seen also as the solution to environmental degradation. The novelty of the paper is to analyze the role of environmental policies, and in particular the use of market-based and non-market instruments to challenge the pollution plague and mitigate climate change. The results of fixed effects estimates on a sample of 32 countries observed for the period 1992–2012 show the existence of an inverted U-shaped relationship between per capita gross domestic product (GDP) and per-capita CO2 emissions for the quadratic specification, as well as of an N-shaped pattern for the cubic specification. Most importantly, the stringency indexes, i.e., the proxies used to account for environmental regulation, exhibit negative and strongly significant coefficients, suggesting that the policies are effective in reducing environmental damages associated with economic growth.

This paper aims to analyze the relationship between exports and economic growth in Côte d’Ivoire. In order to achieve this objective, annual data for the period 1960-2017 were tested by using the cointegration approach of Pesaran, Shin and Smith, including the causality test of Breitung and Schreiber. According to our analysis it is only exports that drive economic growth and not the opposite. Exports act positively and significantly on economic growth in the short term as well as in the long term. The causality test of Breitung and schreiber indicates a one-way long-run causal relationship ranging from exports to gross domestic product (GDP). All those results show that exports are a source of Ivorian economic growth.

This paper contributes to the huge debate on the relationship between financial development and the economic growth. The evidence is applied to the CEPGL (Communauté Economique des Pays des Grands Lacs) region. Previous studies have concluded either to the absence of connection between the two spheres, to a unidirectional or bidirectional relationship, or to a differentiated connection depending on the economic status of development of the country. The research design applied in this research has been inspired by the reality of the region by running an Error Correction Model for each country and a fixed effects model on panel data for the whole region. Therefore, we estimated econometric models from a series of macroeconomic data relating to the depth, and the accessibility of the financial system. The data used in this study range from 1976 to 2013. Insights from this study show that the financial system of the region is extremely underdeveloped, a weak connection between the financial and the economic sphere, in addition to an ambivalent sense of causality.

Considering the necessity of achieving economic development by keeping the quality of the environment, the aim of this paper is to study the impact of economic growth on GHG emissions in a sample of Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries (V4 countries, Bulgaria and Romania) in the period of 1996–2019. In the context of dynamic ARDL panel and environmental Kuznets curve (EKC), the relationship between GHG and GDP is N-shaped. A U-shaped relationship was obtained in the renewable Kuznets curve (RKC). Energy consumption, domestic credit to the private sector, and labor productivity contribute to pollution, while renewable energy consumption reduces the GHG emissions. However, more efforts are required for promoting renewable energy in the analyzed countries.

Based on the co-integration test, error correction model and vector autoregressive model, the empirical analysis results show a long-term co-integration relationship between economic growth and energy utilization in China, energy consumption increased by 1%, GDP will increase by 1.342%. In order to raise the efficiency of energy utilization during China's economic development, suggestions like saving energy conservation, reducing emission and recycling economy have been proposed.
