The availability of facilities and infrastructure in learning Cell and molecular biology courses is needed to support the achievement of learning objectives. Based on the results of observations in the Imelda University, Pharmacy Department, the lack of implementation due to the lack of facilities and infrastructure that support the practicum causes a lack of improvement in students' critical thinking skills. The ability to think critically is the main factor affecting student understanding. In this case, the media that can support this is a problem solving-based virtual laboratory to encourage students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to identify the effect of a problem solving-based virtual biology laboratory on the critical thinking skills of students in the Pharmacy Undergraduate Study Program at Imelda University, Medan. The research design was one group pre-test posttest. Data collection was carried out starting in January 2020, followed by data processing and analysis. The sample in this study were all students of the first semester Pharmacy Department at Imelda University, totaling 63 people. The sampling technique in this study is total sampling. The statistical analysis used was one sample T-test. Based on the results of the discussion based on the problems and research objectives, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant effect with p 0.00 <0.05 in the use of problem solving-based virtual laboratories on students' critical thinking skills in the cell and molecular biology courses at the Imelda University Pharmacy Department. With the virtual laboratory, students learn the principles of science in a fast, effective and fun way through virtual laboratory interactions and navigation.

Kata Kunci: Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis, Laboratorium Virtual, dan Sistem Pernapasan Manusia This research aims to determine the differences in critical thinking skills of students who taking conventional learning and virtual labs on the concept of the human breathing system. The method used is an experimental method by design pretest-posttest control group design. The research population is high school students at class XI in the second semester of school time. Two classes with 25 students each were chosen purposively for experiment and control class. The experimental classed was taught by using learning media of virtual laboratory software, while the control class was taught with conventional learning and both classes were applied the Direct Instruction Model. Pretest and posttest on critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of the students in both classes were compared and analyzed by using a test; essay and multiple-choice performed with t-test (Independent Samples t-Test). The results showed that there was significant improvement of critical thinking skills (tcount 5, 507 > ttable 2,011) students that learned through media of virtual laboratory software. Thus, there is a significant difference in the application of virtual laboratory software on students' critical thinking skills on the concept of the human breathing system. Abstract The 21st century demands critical thinking skills, problem solving, and communication skills, so physics education students must be prepared to have these skills in the current industrial 4.0 era. These skills can be trained and developed through Higher Order Thinking Laboratory (HOT-LAB) activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the HOT-LAB laboratory type on the improvement of critical thinking skills on the concept of magnetic fields. This research uses One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The instrument uses questions of practical understanding and understanding of 10 questions. The results of data analysis showed that the average N-Gain score for the experimental class was 45.3 and the control class was 35.7. The use of HOTLAB in a real blended virtual laboratory has moderate effectiveness to improve Critical Thinking Skills on the subject of magnetic field.

The purpose of this study was to determine the positive effect of virtual laboratory integration in Problem Solving learning models on students' critical thinking skills in the electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials. This research was conducted in December 2018 - May 2019. The quantitative research method used was a quasi-experiment with Posttest Only Control Group Design. This research consisted of experimental class and control class, with 36 students in each class. The experimental class applies virtual laboratory integration learning in the Problem Solving learning model, while the control class applies 5M learning. The results showed that the average posttest value of the experimental class was 72.8 and the control class was 63.7. The results of the testing of the hypothesis were obtained by the value of t count (4.942)> t table (1,667) with a value with a significant level of 0.05, indicating that the positive influence of virtual laboratory integration in the Problem Solving learning model on students' critical thinking abilities in electrolyte solution material and nonelectrolytes.
