The main objective of the study was to examine the effect of knowledge management processes on organisational effectiveness in Nigerian deposit money banks. Specifically, the study examines knowledge creation, acquisition, sharing and storage and organisational effectiveness in Nigerian deposit money banks. The data for the study was generated through a questionnaire which yielded 359 valid responses and was determined scientifically using Krejcie & Morgan (1970) from selected Nigerian deposit money banks with their operational head offices in Lagos-Nigeria as the population of the study. The study adopted survey design and the validity results of KMO, and Bartletts test indicate that variables are highly significant, and principal component analysis was suitable (.837). The test-retest result of reliability reported a reliability index of 0.872. Multiple regressions with the aid of SPSS version 21 were used to test the formulated hypotheses. Findings of the study show that knowledge creation (32.3%), acquisition (62.1%), sharing (42.4%), and storage (46.2%) have a positive significant effect on organisational effectiveness. The study recommends among others that management of Nigerian deposit money banks should aptly designed and encourage knowledge processes in their banks since it constitutes a valuable intangible asset for creating and sustaining exceptional competitive advantages in the Nigerian banking industry. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to review current literature on knowledge management processes considering the relationship between the key knowledge processes of acquisition, sharing, storage, codification, creation, application and different types of innovation, through a systematic literature review. Design/methodology/approach This study follows systematic review protocols for management and organisational sciences and analyses 45 full papers on knowledge management processes and innovation. Findings Results not only show that all knowledge processes can directly support innovation but also that other organisational variables (e.g. organisational learning, absorptive capacity) mediate this relationship. Moreover, knowledge creation and knowledge application appear as two central processes through which knowledge acquisition, sharing, codification and storage influence innovation. Knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing are the most frequently studied knowledge processes. The majority of the sample papers present traditional innovation definitions (product vs process, radical vs incremental and technical vs administrative). However, organisational innovation, innovation capability and innovation performance approaches emerge from the papers’ analysis. Research limitations/implications The present review includes major scientific papers; however, the search is limited to the Web of ScienceTM platform. Originality/value This literature review analyses high-quality, peer-reviewed papers, following a systematic methodology that can be tested and updated. Papers were divided based upon the knowledge process(es) being analysed and the innovation type/approach, providing a twofold contribution to knowledge management and innovation literature.

Nūdienos dinamiškoje aplinkoje informacija ir žinios yra vieni iš esminių organizacijos išteklių ir pagrindiniai inovacijų šaltiniai. Šių išteklių tikslingas valdymas lemia organizacijų konkurencinį pranašumą kuriant didesnę pridėtinę vertę ir didinant jos procesų efektyvumą. Atsižvelgiant į Pasaulio ekonomikos forumo 2013–2014 metų šalių konkurencingumo tyrimo rezultatus, Lietuva užima 27 vietą tarp 148 valstybių pagal žmonių, turinčių aukštąjį išsilavinimą, skaičių, tačiau 44 vietą – pagal inovacijų ir verslo lankstumo subindeksą. Šie statistiniai duomenys leidžia daryti prielaidą, kad Lietuvos organizacijose žinių potencialas yra aukštas, tačiau jis nėra pakankamai išnaudojamas. Susiklosčiusi realybė verčia ieškoti būdų ir metodų, kaip būtų galima ją keisti lygiuojantis į užsienio šalių patirtį. Knowledge is an inexhaustible source of creating innovative ideas, which is one of the essential conditions of innovation development. Today, knowledge management is closely associated with innovative activities. The scope of studies related to determining the impact of knowledge management on innovation is constantly increasing. In order to continuously create innovations, organizations should formulate their knowledge management strategy and integrate it into the organizational strategy, create the organizational culture which could stimulate knowledge sharing, promote continuous learning and the improvement of competencies, identify the key knowledge, create new ideas, develop and acquire new skills, constantly store and share knowledge. The article highlights knowledge management activities affecting innovation, presents an integral knowledge management model which stimulates a continuous creation of innovations, and provides a case study results demonstrating the knowledge management influence on innovation. According to the case study results, knowledge management processes, particularly knowledge sharing, storage, and creation, make the greatest impact on the continuous creation of innovations. Besides, the organizational culture and the organizational structure also influence the process of innovation creation. The knowledge processes, such as sharing and storage, make the greatest influence on the organizational, marketing and product innovation, and process innovation is impossible without knowledge acquisition and storage. Organisations seeking to continuously create different types of innovation should develop knowledge management processes, with a particular emphasis on knowledge storage while applying appropriate technological solutions, and knowledge sharing while creating a favourable organizational culture and choosing the optimal organizational structure.

Knowledge management includes several processes, e.g., knowledge creation, knowledge storing, sharing, and using knowledge. When these processes run smoothly, an organization can confirm that information is available for users whenever needed. This is essential for organizations that sell knowledge based services. However, often these processes are not as effective as they could be. In this article the authors concentrate on the following knowledge management processes: storing, searching, and sharing knowledge. The purpose of the research was to find out the different kind of practices companies use for these processes and how information technology can help companies produce these processes more effective. This paper includes the theoretical background of knowledge management and its processes as well as the results of an empirical benchmarking research done among medium sized and large organizations in knowledge intensive businesses.

Social Innovation has been considered as the main policy agenda in various developed countries throughout the world. Social Innovation is said to make a massive contribution to the social, economic and technological progress of nations. Therefore, it addresses critical issues, among which are poor economic growth, massive unemployment, poor social health, poor living conditions, poor education systems and poor technological advancement. The aim of this paper is to present an empirical insight on the impact of social innovation on strategic knowledge management processes i.e. knowledge creation, knowledge transfers and knowledge application. The main data for this study was collected through survey questionnaires via personally administered and email from 200 project leaders of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) education institutionsindustry-community partnership project. The data were collected from December 2018 till December 2019. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 19. The findings indicate a significant positive relationship between strategic knowledge management processes i.e. knowledge creation, knowledge transfer and knowledge application and social innovation.

This paper investigates the impact of blogging on knowledge processes and proposes a way to manage collective knowledge. Qualitative methods are used to collect data through individual semi-structured interviews, think-aloud protocols, focus groups, and document analysis. Data analysis is pursued with the use of the qualitative software package Atlas.ti®. This qualitative research contributes to our understanding of how a self-organised group of individuals involved in a temporary joint project in the Kingdom of Bahrain creates, transfers, retains and shares knowledge in a blog and provides insights into the knowledge management processes. It reveals the impact of blogging on knowledge management and examines issues concerned with the individual, the groups, and the organisation. It also suggests strategies on how to improve the management of an effective blog. Findings contribute to the debate on knowledge management processes and provide insights for academics and practitioners who are interested in a new theoretical approach connecting individual knowledge to collective knowledge, as well as to those studying online repositories and new information technology tools for the management of organisational knowledge. Future research should be conducted on how blogs may impact the effectiveness of organisational communication. Empirical research should also be conducted to explain how internal and external bloggers contribute to the development of organisational expertise.

Hackathon is a sort of event which fosters the creativity and the innovation. In this way, many software industry organizations have organized their hackathons mainly addressed to improve the individual and organizational knowledge. Thus, this paper aims to investigate the individual's learning after hackathon participation. For that, we conducted a questionnaire with the participants of an internal hackathon carried out by a software development organization. Furthermore, we analyzed a retrospective meeting in which the participants gave their opinion and suggestion regarding the event. Our results point out that hackathons are considered local for knowledge creation which stimulates individual and organizational learning, driving the own learning. Finally, the hackathon creates organizational knowledge which requires Knowledge Management processes, practices, and tools to support that knowledge

Purpose This paper aims to analyse the relationship between knowledge management processes and innovation (KM-IN) in Brazilian and Portuguese companies. Design/methodology/approach The tests were performed using a sequential mixed-method approach. Quantitative analysis was conducted using 341 observations from Brazilian and Portuguese companies and partial least squares techniques. Qualitative analysis was conducted using ten interviews and content analysis techniques. Findings Results showed differences between Brazilian and Portuguese companies with respect to the relationship between knowledge sharing process and innovation. Portuguese companies cope with the geographical dispersal of operations and the lack of interpersonal skills by introducing formal knowledge sharing processes. Practical implications Findings demonstrate that the transfer of knowledge processes to foreign countries may demand adjustments according to cultural traits. Specifically, the findings will be of interest to firms intending to expand their activities between Brazil and Portugal. Originality/value Although researchers have investigated the influence of the national context in many countries, country comparisons are still scarce.

PurposeConstructed upon a knowledge-based view, the purpose of this paper aims to empirically examine the entrepreneurial leadership impact as knowledge management enabler on knowledge management processes and knowledge management processes on project success. The study further ascertains the mediating role of knowledge worker satisfaction among knowledge management processes and project success.Design/methodology/approachUsing the data collected from 302 project workers from the software industry, China. The research used structural equation modeling (SEM) to analyze the hypothesis relationships using smart-PLS 3.2.9.FindingsThe outcome of the study reveals that entrepreneurial leadership has a substantial significant impact on knowledge management processes, and knowledge management processes influence project success via knowledge worker satisfaction as a mediator both directly and indirectly. Moreover, the study found partial mediation of knowledge worker satisfaction between knowledge management processes and project success.Practical implicationsThe current research identifies that entrepreneurial leadership may play a role in fostering knowledge management processes in project-based organizations (e.g. software industry) that can use the knowledge management processes to increase their chances of project success. More broadly, the current study contributes to the entrepreneurial leadership, knowledge management processes, knowledge worker satisfaction and project success existing literature and strengthens the relationship and suggest that how project manager's value knowledge worker satisfaction and help organizations gain competitive advantage and project success.Originality/valueAlthough there is an increased significance of knowledge management in the software industry, there is a lack of research that examines the enabling factors and outcomes of knowledge management practices. The present study is one of the first studies to ascertain the relationship of entrepreneurial leadership, knowledge management processes, knowledge worker satisfaction and project success. This is one of the initial researches that not only empirically examines the interrelationships among these variables but also enlighten insights into the current literature by instantaneous investigation of the mediating role of knowledge worker satisfaction.
