This study examined broadcast media entertainment and attitude cultivation, a study of behavioural patterns of College Students. It is a survey designs study that investigated undergraduate communication students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State and Moshood Abiola Polytechnics, Ogun State. Systematic random sampling was adopted to select a sample size of three hundred (300) communication students of the two institutions as respondents for this study. Programmes such as films, soap operas and musicals, etcetera were units considered. The theoretical framework is premised on the cultivation theory and gratification theory. Its analysis was hinged on the simple percentage statistical calculation. The study outcome showed that youth crave satisfaction in the entertainment programmes they watch and that entertainment programmes like musical videos, foreign and local drama do portray obscenity which brings about delinquent behaviour in the younger generation. It was recommended that producers and directors of entertainment products should be conscious of young people who form the chunk of their audience to eliminate obscenity in programme production, while parents should control the level of media exposure of their wards

The COVID-19 pandemic not only threatens people’s physical health, but also affects their mental health in the long term. Although people had returned to work and school, they are closely monitoring the development of the epidemic and taking preventive measures. This study attempted to examine the relationship between media exposure, sense of coherence (SOC) and mental health, and the moderating effect of media exposure in college students after returning to school. In the present study, we conducted a cross sectional survey on 424 college students returning to school around May 2020. Self-report questionnaires were used to assess media exposure scale, SOC, depression, anxiety and stress. Correlation and moderation analysis was conducted. The results showed that (1) negative epidemic information exposure, rather than positive epidemic information exposure, was significantly associated with depression, anxiety, and stress. (2) SOC was also associated with depression, anxiety, and stress. (3) The effect of SOC on depression was modified by negative epidemic information exposure. With the increase of negative epidemic information exposure, the predictive effect of SOC on depression is increasing gradually. These findings demonstrated that negative epidemic information exposure was associated with an increased psychological distress in the sample. A high SOC played a certain protective role in the adaptation of college students in the post-epidemic period. It is important to find more ways to increase the colleges’ SOC level and avoid negative information exposure.

This study aims to reveal how people's behavior after watching the soap opera Anak Langit and what are the factors that cause people's behavior to change after watching the soap opera Anak Langit. In addition, this study will also look at how violations that occur in Anak Langit soap operas are based on broadcasting regulations in Indonesia. This research will explore the existing problems using Cultivation Theory where this theory assumes that television exposure impacts on the community. This theory is based on Gerbner's thought which conveys that the continued exposure of the media will give an idea and influence on the perception of the viewer. That is, as long as viewers make contact with television they will learn about the world, change their perception of the world, learn to behave and people's values. This study uses qualitative methods, where researchers conduct literature studies, observations and interviews to approach and explore research problems. Based on this research it can be seen that the soap opera Anak Langit has a negative impact on some of its audience. This is because many violations occur, if guided by broadcasting regulations in Indonesia.

Indian television has a come a long way since its humble beginnings. But while advancements are being made on the technical front, most soaps on Indian television lack realism and thrive by weaving new patterns on a tattered storyboard saturated in the tenebrous tar of patriarchy and superannuated social conventions. Television possesses the potency to mould public discourse on account of its pervasive- and invasive- nature. A vast majority of the public consumes entertainment proffered in the form of soap operas- which seem endearingly preoccupied with everyday concerns. Although the portrayal of women in Indian soaps has changed over the years, gender roles and behavioural patterns are influenced by a complex reworking of disempowering archetypes and stereotypes instilled in the public imagination by anintransigent, elite fraternity viciously dedicated to embracing overt aspects of modernity. In view of the largelydeprecatory portrayal of female characters, it is high time to interrogate the role of the soap opera in shaping the identity of women. Keywords: Television, women, identity, soap opera, audience
